What an epic song. Metallica is the best band ever. Many bands can make a few great songs, but the amount of great songs from Metallica is totally unmatched by other bands/artists regardless of genre. And most of them kinda run out of ideas. Being able to produce a song like this 35 years into your career is spectacular.

I remember when I was 16 me and a buddy were listening to music while stoned, back then I only listened to rap. He put a cd in and was like check this out, he put on for whom the bell tolls and my mind was blown. We started listening to the rest of the cd and I couldn’t believe that every song was better then the last. 20 years later and Metallica is still my favorite band and ride the lightning is my favorite cd ever. Metallica has got me through some really rough times in my life, they are simply the best.

This song contains all the beauty of agonizing oneself, all the self-righteous drama and all the desperate anger that MetallicA stands for! This band is at least as much music as it is philosophy. I passionately love and admire their work!

The lyrics to this song are like someone went into my head and pulled out my thoughts and emotions.

Just as they about to enter a killer musical section (4:30ish) a Geico commercial kicks in.

This is definitely a new style for Metallica, but i dig it. of course its still heavy metal but This seems more.....groovy? maybe? regardless, i like it. and hey, those people who tell you not to take chances, they are all missing on what life's about.
