LYRICS
My life suffocates
Planting seeds of hate
I've loved, turned to hate
Trapped far beyond my fate
I give, you take
This life that I forsake
Been cheated of my youth
You turned this lie to truth
Anger
Misery
You'll suffer unto me
Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow
Pure black looking clear
My work is done soon here
Try getting back to me
Get back which used to be
Drink up
Shoot in
Let the beatings begin
Distributor of pain
Your loss becomes my gain
Anger
Misery
You'll suffer unto me
Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow
All have said their prayers
Invade their nightmares
To see into my eyes
You'll find where murder lies
Infanticide
Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow

Metallica were so inventive in their build up and interesting variations within each song. Beautiful in the old sense of art--not modern art--where reflection on negative emotions make it all the more possible to bear them, and even make the art beautiful to hear or see. It has a tonne of competition, especially from the likes of Sad But True, but Harvester somehow manages to be the heaviest Metallica song ever IMO, particularly this Seattle performance and also the Moscow 91 version. It's not the fastest or the most technical track on AJFA, in fact it's simplicity stands it in stark contrast to tracks like Frayed Ends and AJFA itself. Harvester is just raw power - it oozes hatred and anger. James' drunken (yet amazingly still exceptionally competent) delivery adds even more rawness to it. It screams "get the f out of my way".

God I love ...And Justice For All so much. Definitely Metallica's Magnum Opus. It wasn't my favorite in the beginning of my Metallica fandom but it is now by a wide margin, and I love all their albums!

Honestly I’ve always said Justice is my favourite album and everybody seems to hate it because of the production and lack of Cliff Burton. But honestly it’s their most aggressive and darkest album, it’s fucking untouchable. Not to mention in the late 80s and early 90s their live performances couldn’t be touched by anyone.

The filming is so perfect in this video that it would be the perfect video for an official Metallica studio version of this song. Tom Sisson

It's like watching Michael Jordan in his prime decimate the NBA, or Nolan Ryan striking out anybody at will, this is Metallica in their prime absolutely crushing the arena of "live performance"

My life suffocates Planting seeds of hate I've loved, turned to hate Trapped far beyond my fate I give You take This life that I forsake Been cheated of my youth You turned this lie to truth Anger Misery You'll suffer unto me Harvester of sorrow (language of the mad) Harvester of sorrow Pure black looking clear My work is done soon here Try getting back to me Get back which used to be Drink up Shoot in Let the beatings begin Distributor of pain Your loss becomes my gain Anger Misery You'll suffer unto me Harvester of sorrow (language of the mad) Harvester of sorrow All have said their prayers Invade their nightmares To see into my eyes You'll find where murder lies Infanticide Harvester of sorrow (language of the mad) Harvester of sorrow (language of the mad)

As a live music fan, I think that this proves that modern concerts are TOO BRIGHT! This is actually a very dimly lit show. It has a lot of lights and tons of colors and different effects, but I think over the years the total level of Lumens has come up so much that it's just to a point where it doesn't feel very Rock n Roll. I think if modern day lightshows included everything the already do, but backed down the overall aperture/brightness, I think it'd be better. I wonder if it's a product of how many video screens are involved in this day and age.
