Cliff used a Morley Power Wah pedal back in the day for his bass, not sure if that was used on KEA or Ride The Lightning, but it was in the mix at some point!
They definitely get darker-sounding later on! The albums they're probably known for most are Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All, so you might have expected a sound more like that coming into it.
