@@11DNA11 Not entirely true. The producers WANTED him to do all of Dave's stuff because fans were already familiar with it from the No Life Til Leather demo, but Kirk wasn't really comfortable with just completely mirroring another artist's work. So they came to a compromise where Kirk would play the first few bars of Dave's solos and then do his own thing and then end with the last few bars of what Dave did. So the familiarity would be there but he also got to do a lot of his own thing in the middle since most of the solos were pretty long.
@@rubemortenson1724interesting. Kirk and Dave were both great but I think I heard there’s a couple errors in Kill ‘Em All. Part of me wonders what Metallica would’ve been if Dave never got kicked but I’m still a bigger Metallica fan than Megadeath
@@WinstonWolfe21 I honestly think that if Dave hadn't been booted, not only would we not have two great bands... we might not even have one. The band might have just reached a boiling point and fallen apart for good.
Don't remind me. If I tried to play these songs now my arm would fall off. But I remember how much fun it was to learn how to play them. Great fun, but all we had for accuracy back then was ear and bad tabs.
Yea but I prefer Metallica’s version much better than “The Mechanix” the guitar playing and that middle bridge part added to the original and the lyrics were superior than being a gas station attendant daydreaming about screwing some hot woman who needed her “car filled up” lol Metallica definitely took Mustaines idea but improved on it I.m.o.
Brother you nailed it with kirk I'm 54 yrs old and I saw them do the kill em all concert back in 81 or 82 it's foggy 😂...but kirk Hammett would of had a backup if something happened to him and he'd be proud I know I met him that night him and Lars and cliff they were cool cats all the way also have pictures of me and my friend hanging with em back stage...rock on young bro...
My God. Kid I've been playing thus instrument since 2001 and am no where near your skill!!!! Amazing! You played through this album(minus one song 😉) like it was a warm up 😮😮😮 Excellent work son. Just phenomenal.
lol exactly how I feel I’ve been playing for 27yrs “not religiously” I’ve always been more of a casual player than a 4/5hrs a day practice type of player. But I’m nowhere near as good as him at guitar lol. I’ve always been good at naturally playing songs and learning them by ear but never could understand all the technical aspects of guitar playing, even after all those years I’ve barely memorized the string letters for each string lol I’ve always just did what came natural, never had someone to show me any technical skills or finger placements I just did what felt right even if it was wrong
@DblakeDeathMetal89 ya I with ya. I've taken some lessons but mostly use youtube and tabs to learn songs. My ear sucks when trying to just learn by listening. My guitar teacher could listen to a song & tab it out like no big deal. He has a channel on here called String Theory if you wanna check it out.
@@speedguy26 that’s cool! Yea I’m not that good, lol especially trying to tab out solos I’m sure that would be pretty hard. But I can hear a song and learn it in a matter of minutes by ear on guitar or piano. Like I learned not too long ago how to play The Great Fairy Fountain theme song from “The Legend Of Zelda” video game by ear and memorized it in not too long of time! I’ll definitely check it out thanks.
Таких челов уже как собак нерезаных - кто круче и извращеннее сыграет то, что написано десятки лет назад другими, вместо того, чтобы писать свою музыку.
dude I watched the first 2 songs - thats absolutely incredible. you nail the solos insane bro. but really, what's my favorite is that your attitude is fun and outward and youre having a blast jamming these tunes. and that shines thru. keep rocking bro!
You say you haven't played these in so long but I can tell that you're just like me in the sense that we will never lose the muscle memory of this album being ingrained into the fibers of our brain. I guarantee that you were just like me and listened to this album religiously for years and still listen to it because it's just that damn good! I play the drums but I know every guitar riff and the melody of every solo, every up picking, down picking, dive, etc. Guitar would've been my second instrument had I had one to learn with but I didn't pursue it. My older brother had a drum set and I beat the crap out of it to this album from beginning to end. A pleasure to watch you play to these songs. You're flawless my man! Thank you for posting this! Signed, Old school Metallica fan! They call me Hambone!
0:00 - Hit the Lights 4:10 - The Four Horsemen 11:26 - Motorbreath 14:38 - Jump In The Fire 19:23 - (Anesthesia)--Pulling Teeth 20:08 - Whiplash 24:17 - Phantom Lord 29:21 - No Remorse 35:52 - Seek & Destroy 42:49 - Metal Militia
You're so damm good man :) Somehow I've found this video and watching this now seems to me very relaxing :D BTW - I've bought just exactly the same guitar few weeks ago and it is great. I love this album but still I need to learn the solos. Cheers!
Def looked like he struggled here and there with some of the riffs and he doesn't have the best ear for hitting the right pitch with his bends, but overall it was really well played.
One thing I notice when slowing your playthroughs down to play along and practice to. I dont strum the in between low E string chugs the way I should when covering these songs, I first noticed it when playing Holy Wars that I don’t chug on the E string long enough before changing to the next part. Thats one part of my guitar playing the past 27yrs is my picking technique. I’m horrible at up picking when I’m supposed to I mainly alternate pick or just downpicking I never noticed how important that part of learning guitar truly is until now.
How it's possible to have a good song like this on rocksmith ? Mine is so bad... And what's the ref of your ear monitoring ? thank you and great video !
It's wild that Kirk composed these solos so quickly. I am thinking these are my favorite solos of any of their albums overall. And it's hard to believe some/most are based on Mustaine's solos b/c I don't care for his playing. *Kill Em All and Ride the Lightning all day long for me.
