Man, I remember when I saw them in 2019 and James said something like "We're gonna play something off out first album, who's heard Kill em All?" I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember exactly, but it was funny that James thought they were going to be playing some obscure old stuff that people might not have heard. Then the entire stadium erupted with cheering and screaming.

I mean I love Pantera, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden. But to me no band will ever come close to what Metallica has done with their first 5 albums. The last 2 albums are great too. People always talk about how Kirks or Lars' technique sucks. Im just a regular guy who doesnt give a shit about pentatonic scales or whatever. I just love the sound that comes out the speakers. This is music not the fucking olympics so I just love the musicality of the band not the speed that theyre playing or technique that theyre using. Im a music fan. Looking forward to seeing them in Estonia in July

In my mind it is no offense to every other legendary concert every band has done that’s still talked about decades later like this one but I mean come on James vocals made him sound like an loud angry lion Jason’s backing vocals you would think he was possessed by how he sounded at times Kirk’s playing was phenomenal like on the albums themselves and lastly Lars’s drumming was almost perfect yet so fast and that snare! Sounds like a machine gun going off and with the echo in that arena makes it sound like there’s about 100 guns going off in there plus the crowd!! Loud and just word for word perfect! The moshpits and headbanging from men and women in there I COULD TALK FOREVER AS TO WHY THIS CONCERT TO ME IS NUMBER #1!

I love that you can hear the natural fluctuations in tempo throughout this performance. The band pushes and pulls where it feels natural. No in-ear monitors, just a bunch of loud-ass monitors on the ground to hear each other. Perfect.

That’s what I’ve always enjoyed about this band. They don’t have cookie cutter performances that all sound the same from one show to the next. They always had the human sounding element to them. It disappoints me when I listen to a band live and it just sounds like a machine performing the songs!

Jeff Porcaro once said "a good musician knows how to dance around the beat and make it intesresting and less tight for the others to be able to play around too". in short it gives room to improvise knew/original things to make the performance unique. playing always the same at the very note and be tight like a virgin pussy... well just play with robots or along a beat machine LOL. one of Steve Wonders' best songs has been recorded without clic and the song is all over the place. still one of the best songs in music history. go figure... if it feels good, it's right. simple as that.

The more I listen to Metallica, the more I appreciate how absolutely vital Kirk is. Man is a certified monster while still having that frail and haunting touch that pumps your soul up like a balloon and pokes it full of razor blades. The most human of the metal lead guitarists.

Kinda. But imo Jason's departure was a symptom - not the cause. I suspect the bell first rang when Cliff died and they realized that it was ringing for them. So they decided to stay together and keep playing, but at the same time they had to overcome the loss and kept going with understanding that it could end for them just as quickly. I think Kirk mentioned that he was gonna sleep at the bunk Cliff fell out of the bus from. So I guess they just decided to cash out in a way. Use their reputation to play whatever they want and make money from it to enjoy the time they got left. I think it made them wake up from the rock star dream and reconsider their priorities. But Jason didn't go through all of that and became an emotional punching bag for others to let anger out on. And James always looked like the most honest and emotional guy of them all to me. So yeah, now the band is a way for them to make money and have fun, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that it in any way undermines them being the biggest metal band in history.

I said the exact same thing when I listened to the Black album a few times back in the day. I knew then that Justice was their pennacle and they reached it. It sucks it took them so long to make Hardwired...to self destruct. That is the album that should have followed Justice. Hardwired is very good.

That’s just what they were doing back then. If you check out a few more of their concerts from mid/late 80s like the show in Japan, or Canada, they are going extremely fast as well. Although, I will say those two shows recordings are… well… not as good as this production if ya know what I mean. However they’re both on RU-vid so it’s still pretty cool.
