"Master of Puppets", to me, has always been about drug addiction "chop your breakfast on a mirror" is specifically talking about drugs.

Wow, that's an amazing podcast. I can't believe it's not well known yet. It was very interesting to hear Luxxury and I had a similar experience about Metallica as something so ground-breaking in young age.

You really should have done a deep dive into the lyrics of this one guys. As great as it is musically, its very deep lyrically. Master of Puppets is about drug addiction. The "master" is the drugs and the "puppets" are the users who are addicted. This is an anti drug song. The lyrcs are really well written and you should have given them a lot more attention and time. The "Master! Master!" That you played is the "good guy voice". It's the addicted person pleading with the drugs. Master, master Where's the dreams that I've been after? I LOVE this fucking show so much and both of you. There could not be two better hosts for this type of show! This is a gift from the gods and I'm so glad youtube recommended it! I love both of your musicap styles and as a 35yo we are pretty much in the same generation in thay we experienced the same music and have similar tastes, and I love both of your personalities! Youre covering every genre, getying me into some songs I wouldnt normally but also covering some of my favorites. This is that generational thing I mentioned, you huys fucking nailed the songs of this first season. Im patiently waiting for the Miss Jackson episode!

As a teen, I played “Master of Puppets” for my preppy buddy at work and his reply was “that’s so gross.” He assumed it was an S&M thing.🙄 I had to show him the lyric “Chop your breakfast on a mirror” for him to see the addiction themes.

I feel like there's a lot of misinformation and slander going on right now about metallica, even and polite as it may seem. Real metallica fans only "actually" count as the albums? And Justice For All deserves so much more than "a side eye". That's crazy. Black album? Every song on that album is a massive hit to the point where even the biggest of metallica fans can go from now to death without hearing Enter Sandman again and would be perfectly fine. Also, Lars came off as a money hungry A hole while suing Napster but the bigger picture was him defending artists as a whole. It was pure theft and he had the balls to step up to them meanwhile ALL the other popular artists sack back and kept quiet while reaping the benefits of him making sure their music and arts weren't taken without payment. If 1 movie is made to make a profit and EVERYONE copy's the original then nothing is sold and those artists can't continue to do the things that we all love. He's the scapegoat but it was a job that had to be done. Good on him.

Why is Diallo always so reductive about anything non "hip hop". Saying Metallica lyrics are childish or referencing white guys yelling the lyrics to master of puppets? Stacking 4 drum machines on a song to make Bomb Squad beats, takes nowhere near the technicality of writing any section of this song in 1985.

One more thing, I started with later episodes but this is one of my least favorites even though I LOVE IT and the song.....I truly hate the cuts into segments. I want to hear EVERYTHING you guus have tonsay about this. I dont have sirius but I see the logo, so maybe you are keeping it X amount of minutes because this is a sirius show? This is youtube and more importantly a podcast, we want everything, we want the bamter you are cutting out etc. It doesnt seem like this is a sirius show you are recording here, it seems like your doing this just for youtube. Maybe I didnt notice it because you already made that change in later episodes? This is my singular complaint, other then that, your show is magic and I crave this content. Nobody is doing it, let alone like you. What a great niche as someone who watches butch vig play the stems and talk about recordings. Thanks again you two! Could you possibly indulge a super fan and explain why you do the cuts, and if yoi changed it later on?
