First seen them in 85 . Shared a few spliffs with Cliff in his hotel room in 86 . I'm 54 now . Still wonder what happened to the petrol lighter I gave him 🤔
!!! 54 years old here too....saw them open for Ozzy, 1986 or '87. The whole general admission floor turned into stage rush the instant the Oz took the stage and remained a wavelike mosh pit the entire show; intentional, circular mosh pits were still years away. Post show, the memory of the preacher in the parking lot with a big cross with a megaphone hanging from it trying to "save souls from Satan's music" is priceless, most people walked on by, saying things like "it was a great show, you just don't get it, man". Some metal fans wadded up the pamphlets he was handing out and gently beaned him and his cross with them...smiles everywhere. Ozzy definitely proved why he was the headliner that night, Jake E. Lee most definitely held up to everything anyone could expect from a guitarist doing the impossible job of replacing Randy Rhodes, shredding on the old songs and showing his own tone and style on the new post-Randy material. However, the chatter in the parking lot post show was all about "that opening band played so fast and louder than than any opener i've ever seen". And echoing all over were the sparse amount of lyrics that were understood by a crowd's first exposure to Metallica... "Jump in the fire!, Jump in the fiiiiiaaa!" And "Seek Annnnd Deeestroy". Amazing night and road trip to a big city concert with 4 high school friends.
Metallica have once again raised the bar in the studio to the stage. 72 Seasons sounds incredible and their live show is untouchable. Who else puts on a show like this? Take it all in people because these guys will not be around forever and I`m not sure who can replace them.
Noone can "replace" or even imitate Metallica. They literally stand in a place all their own. Gods among men.. I am so glad that I grew up at same time that Metallica was blowing up. So many memories hanging with friends jamming to Metallica, megadeth, slayer and so many others but METALLICA will always stand high above the rest. Jusy completely untouchable in music and performance ! Sadly I must admit tho that I have NEVER EVEN BEEN TO SEE MY FAV BAND OF ALL TIME PLAY LIVE.! but I hope I do someday before i die. 😂 Top of that bucket list fs!! Should have said duplicate..
@@-iceraptor- I'm 54 and have yet 2 c them live. Don't know if it will ever happen, but, like you I was able to grow up having them around on the radio and cassette tapes to jam too.
@@Utubin there's a lot of rock/heavy metal bands out there.. But none of them have or any ever will even come close to Metallica. They had their own sound even to this day and always stood out from the crowd for me.
Yea first time I saw them was in ‘92 when they opened for GnR. They put on a better show than the gunners, and of course Axl being Axl decided to wait until after 1am to finally take the stage.
Never seen in concert but I still remember sitting on the bus in 7th 1989 listening to my “And justice for all” tape in my Walkman.. greatest rock band of all time in my opinion!
It does sound mint from further back. Those in the snake pit can only hear the drum kit acoustically because there's no amps on stage. I'm seeing them at Download in a week. Obviously the stage will be very different, just a normal 2D stage!
Glasgow 2017 great gig apart from the box video things that were part of the show, up/down the hydro Glasgow is like a gladiator auditorium very steep gradient and prices 😂 the boys were in the round tho , 👊\m/
I have already seen them 3 times and got lucky once to win meet n greet in Iceland on my first show at 17-18 years old. Last I saw them was Denmark 2012 and I feel like I need to see them one last time or I will regret it for the rest of my life, because I know I will still be listening to them when i’m old and grey.
on y voit rien dans cette vidéo... J'étais dans la fosse ce soir du 19 mai et ça envoyé beaucoup plus de son et d'effets que de cette vue lointaine ds les hautes tribunes...
there were actually a lot of people on floor, but upper deck wasn't filled for multiple reasons : - expensive tickets, - two dates, on a week end of holidays But to be honest, the concert was fantastic, and there were still a LOT of people lol, I would say at least 100000 people for both concerts
Lars is off on his tempo like always. Not sure how 90% of you miss this. Live Sh!t Binge and Purge live version of One is the best, back when Lars was a little better, but not much.
