I so relate to starting the kids early on good rock n roll. When my 10 year old son was an infant I would play the Metallica lullaby cd while I put him to bed. And pretty much all he hears in the car with me is rock from the 80's and 90's. Must have worked cuz he plays guitar, piano, bass guitar and sings in a rock band. His favorite band is the Beatles. At least I know I did something right! lol

No one is forcing you to listen to pop or rap or whatever though. Listening to metal doesn't mean you have a superior music taste. I used to be like you too, back in high school I thought I was superior because I only listen to metal while the others listened to pop. But now I realize that there's so many good modern music out there, just waiting to be discovered. Even though metal is still my favorite genre, I now listen to all kinds of songs and honestly it's much better this way

I only listen to 60s classic rock all the way up to 80s heavy metal and I was born In 1991 90s and 2000s music never got my attention.

I saw a random lady wearing a stock Iron Maiden tshirt the other day walking through town. I was so tempted to go up and ask her what her favourite Maiden song or album is. It always seems to be the way with fashion-conscious people, they'll only wear shirts of bands (brands) that have at least one foot in the door of the mainstream (Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, or maybe even Slayer). I hate stock band tshirts, or stock video game tshirts, people will pick a tshirt off a rack without paying attention to what made the name famous to begin with.

A little before my 5th birthday, my grandfather (my parents might also have been in on it, idk) bought me and my little brother an Xbox 360 and Guitar Hero 2 and 3 as well as a controller, and I am forever grateful for having been brought into metal. My mom's not really into the heavier stuff but my dad loves guys like Metallica and Megadeth, and my mom has recently gotten into Avenged Sevenfold. Really cool to have parents into the same music I am, especially when that music is metal \m/

This is so true. I have played guitar since i was 8 and now all i do is play and blast rock cds and my 2 daughters love it. My youngest (5) she will scream acl roses parts in welcome to the jungle lol
