I just love when people try to put a meaning on something like this. Metallica's intentions on this song was to leave interpretation open to the listener, to whatever it reminds him/her of. Whether it be your vices, friendship, the government, satan, it's whatever you take it to be.
i love when songs, or anything in general, can be open to interpretation, it really helps listeners relate to what they listen to and can create several possibilities that really tell what kind of person you are.
It isn't my number one but it's definitely definitely up there. For metal, yes. But I really love classic rock so I have to say the Beatles is my number one favorite band lol.
I took a weight lifting class several times in high school, and I could always lift more when this song came on. Metallica pumps you up like little else can.

The proper way to say it would be "when he put the drum in," so it was English put improper.

I've never seen the lyrics for this particular Metallica song before today. At the part where he says "I'm inside open your eyes. I'm youuuuu." I literally said, "Oh SHIT" and was super stunned at this shocking turn of events. I'm also stoned out my damn mind, so it might just be the mary that's making me flip on this song, but I really think it's just Metallica's true rock artistry and shining through the purple haze surrounding me.

Having just watched The HU band's new cover of this song, I came for the English-language lyrics. (The throat-singing HU's version is sung in Mongolian, the rock'n instruments being traditional morin khuurs, a tovshuur, etc.) The HU's "Sad but True" video gives all respect to Metallica and is itself truly GREAT! 🤘🤘

I have been on a metallica binge the past couple nights. Heard for whome the bell tolls on a movie called metal lords on netflix i was like hell yeah . Been a metallica fan since i was 5. My first cd to. Im 31 now.this is metal. Idk about the stuff today from other bands. 60s through the 90s are the BEST
