Please review The Metallica trilogy The Unforgiven I, II, III also in order of course. And I like that you mentioned the drummer & lead guitar as exceptional. Don't you also think Hetfields vocals are the kind that need to sing this? A Garden Grove CA kid, he is. Oh and lead guitar Kirk Hammett is a mestiso. Mom is pinoy. Ask your wife if she knows that.

This song was what gave me hope for the Band's future, but then they failed epically with Load & re-Load. IMO, The Black album was their last. Everything Metalica did after that, sucks. But I'm an old Metallica 'elitist', new Metallica is sold out bullshit.
@andalf_der_graue
@andalf_der_graue 3 года назад
@@peterbelanger4094 sorry, but I disagree. They've grown musically imo. Load and Reload are great in my book. Very different, but still great. If you really were an elitist you wouldn't like anything after AJFA. The black album heavily went towards mainstream metal which is good because more people (non metalheads) would give it a chance. People keep saying they sold out. That shit started with MOP, believe it or not. They were actually implying Metallica sold out on MOP because there were acoustic and melodic parts in it. Lastly, St. Anger is a rough listen I'll give you that. Death Magnetic and Hardwired to self-destruct were excellent, especially the latter felt like a best of from all their styles over the years.

I grew up with many types of music from my older siblings, so I have always been eclectic in my musical tastes, but I don't like everything I hear. When it comes to a new band/artist, I try to keep to a simple enough system, don't give up if you don't like the first song you hear. I try to listen to 3 songs before I make up my mind, if I find the first song a bit off. I cannot say that I have always used this rule, but most of the time, and while I do not like every song I hear or every band/artist, I have heard so much awesome music, it is difficult to remember it all. FAR more good than bad. Just try to keep an open mind and be fair to a new sound.

That's a great interpretation, but I think this song was actually inspired by a movie (James talked about this in an interview) where a puppet controls a person but it looks like the person is controlling the puppet. @@theof4455 everybody interprets a song through the filters of their own experiences. "Wish You Were Here" means different things to different people. The analogies used in a lot of music allow for interpretation, and for more people to connect to a song. It's what gives a song meaning to a fan.

I genuinely thought "Sad But True" was all about drug addiction. The drugs making you do everything to get a fix, lie, steal, betray... so seductive, but then let's you take the blame. I listened to Metallica A LOT during my most severe depression years. The lyrics spoke to me from my interpretation of what I was going through at the time. My whole 20's was really bad.

I've always looked at this song as the ultimate interpretation of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde , the normal and the monster inside us all

The second person you mention "hovering" could be thought of as ourselves. Every time I hear this song I think of my (lack of) shadow work. When you embrace and come to terms with yourself as a whole of your true parts, you can truly live as who you are and who you are meant to be.

Man I love your channel. Best reaction videos on RU-vid. I always felt that this song was about struggling with your inner demons. It seems that great songwriters have a way with writing a song about one thing and the listener can have it fit there life in a different way. Thanks for what you do brother.

It's sad but true that Metallica made their best music when the band and especially James was going through the worst of times. The music speaks.

I’m not a big fan of the black album but this is one song I’d recommend to anyone unfamiliar with Metallica. It’s sums up their essence succinctly in one song and it’s catchy as hell.

One of the great things about Metallica reactions is that they never copyright strike. They are one of the rare bands that own their own music catalog, so you don’t have a record company or a third party hired by the record company to go after channels on RU-vid. I don’t think I’ve seen a single takedown or copyright strike on a Metallica reaction. I could be wrong, but I’ve seen a ton of Metallica reactions and none have ever been blocked to struck.

This song contains one of Metallica's most massive riffs of all time! Not a fast, thrashy song, like Metallica fans were used to at the time, but crushing none the less! This album will forever be a turning point for the creativity of the metal genre.

Script-Flip by 'BoomerTang': Author Rudyard Kipling published a literary work in 1891 titled 'The Light that Failed'. 100 years later (1991), metal band Metallica released 'The God that Failed' as the first radio-played song from their 'Black' Album. In 1988 a A SciFi film was released titled 'Alien Nation' featuring a 'Newcomer' named 'Rudyard Kipling'. Another 'Black' album favorite, 'Sad But True', if lyrically followed, seems to have a theme of 'Alienation'. I learned all of this searching the origins of the phrase "bite the bullet". The actor who portrayed 'Rudyard' in the James Caan "E.T.PD" flick, that man earlier played 'Rafterman' in Kubrick's 'Full Metal Jacket'. In a (literally) pivotal scene, Gomer Pyle almost literally, 'Bites the Bullet' using a 'Full Metal Jacket'. Sad...but True.
