That’s amazing 16:21 “Chicago all over again” James referring to when the fans took Kirks guitar all the way back in 1983. That’s cool he remembers that so clearly
No one ever says it, but Kirk is the glue that keeps shit together. Without Kirk, Metallica would have fallen apart long ago. He is always cool/level headed, never wants the spotlight, and is never arrogant or pushy with his ideas. Not to mention he aged gracefully as hell.
Austin Bramer, with Dave instead Metallica would sound way different, given how Megadeth turned out i'm not thrilled about the idea, Fade to Black is better than every Megadeth song, and then Metallica has over 100 songs more in their sleeve :P.
Rob has really grown on me, I really appreciate what he brings to Metallica now. I do admit that I was a little jaded after Jason left, and in my mind no one could replace him. But Rob has done an amazing job bringing his own style into Metallica.
Jason's vocals were truly amazing and in that regard Robert can't truly replace him. However, Robert's Bass playing is truly outstanding. He's an amazing Bassist. Anyone with an ear would have to agree with that. I know that you do, but many just can't.
Yep now noone could replace Rob. He is successful and talented like Cliff and Jason. Everybody will be taking lessons from Cliff for a loooooooong time. That european classical theory mixed with the black mans blues composed on scars and feel gave us.....METALLICA!!
@@thebluesrockers Hated Jasons vocals. So forced and stiff. And worse of all when he was harmonizing in Nothing Else Matters. Always out of tune. Especially on Cunning Stunts.
I want to see Lars singing and running around going apeshit again, like he about 20 years ago. If Lars didn't do drums, he would've definitely been a crazy front man singer.
D Exactly. I really felt bad for Rob at that point. He’s not appreciated the way he should be. I really don’t know why so many people talk shit about him
lol at 16:17 when james said chicago all over again, in 1983 kirk like put his guitar out in the crowd and they just grabbed it from em and security had to jump in and fight it back.
Meanwhile, in an alternate universe: James Hetfield: Drums Lars Ulrich: Vocals and rhythm guitar Kirk Hammett: Bass guitar Robert Trujillo: Lead guitar
I love this band so much , I'd even let my wife take a massive cum shot on her face by all 4 members , the fan club staff , roadies , even the pop and peanut vendor , for me
+Grossguth Richard If you watch documentaries and behind the scenes kinda stuff he gets arm and shoulder massages before almost every show. My guess is to prevent tearing muscles and to avoid permanent damage down the road.
+surfinalien Haha yeah. I'm sure when they were rehearsing he just had an itch to play the solo. But it was hella funny when he said lets just start from the middle and Lars was like "That's my least favorite part..."
I love the fact that decades after their debut, after becoming living legends, they're rehearsing in a dirty damn.. workshop? And of course they brought a protools to record it all. That's authentic
Hell Naw that person is rubbing his right shoulder because of the issues he has with it from playing so aggressive younger and bending it a unnatural way same reason why kirk uses so much wah now compared to his younger self since he has wrist problems
+thrasherfan96 "There's no Escape " XDDD Even I'm laughing now xD If you don't know: They don't like their song Escape, also they played it live like three times only, after album release and twice in 2012. They even said they DON'T WANT to play it live, like never
+Mark O They needed another song for the album, and they forced the writing of it, from what I can remember. They talk about it in the SO WHAT! book, I think. Because they had to force it, they hated it.
They say that for three reasons: 1: He replaced his ride cymbal with a china crash cymbal. 2: His drum fills are all basically a snare drum roll. 3: He always seems to fuck up the timing on songs.
I like Robert. He seems like a really cool guy and a great bassist but damn Jason brought so much more power to this and many other songs with his backing vocals.
+Brian Fastabend rob just doesn't fit in as good as Jason and isn't such a great composer as cliff was but he is the best bassist of all. I like him way more when he is with his normal band (suicidal tendencies)
For some reason over the past week or so I have been watching several documentaries, behind the scenes footage of what goes into making a record, and having a good show... Now I understand why good seats are at times pricey... They are very worthy of the $ to recommend to anyone to at least see them once live, no matter what I think you'll end up being a fan for life. Humble, normal people just like you and I...
+Daniel Petrucci I mean, his playing has obviously gone down hill the last, well shit...like 10-15 years...and we all know the St. Anger snare sound was shitty....but I'm not sure what is wrong with the snare sound here? find me a better sounding snare from a live performance? it's got good attack, body, you can hear the tone of the drum....? or was that just your attempt at a bagging on lars moment? if that's your objective, complain that you can't hear the bass drums.... just sayin.
I don't know why I always get the feeling that they're really getting tired of playing the same songs over and over. Rob looks like he's not having fun anymore.
It's great to see them practising in a dirty and messy garage, just like any other local band (except for the physiotherapist, sound engineer and camera but ok). I love it!
this is the best video ever, they are all being themselves and not cheesy like when they are being interviewed and such. a real fly on the wall experience.
Yeah same. Would've been pretty cool to see Lars Ulrich play lead and Kirk play drums. I wanted to see how good Lars could play guitar and Kirk the drums.
It was insane!!! They made music in the last 30-32 years and i have the feeling that they can make it for another 20 years!!! oh, and Lars rocks it hard! \m/
Rodrigo Boschi my guess is he is trying to preserve his voice so he can tour and keep playing if he did it like that all the time he prob woukdnt be able to keep going like he does
