Im pretty new to music. I would like to understand what do you mean when you say lars is bad. I can barely notice when he is out of time, but to be honest i don't even understand the meaning of the word.
@@joaquindelfresno2586 ok...he is sometimes very sloppy. When you watch old metallica he was something like better good drummer, not best not worst but better then good. But now: mistakes, he doesn't use metronome, how I said sloppy. Watch some if his fails...especially one he did in song called ,,One"
I mean, he always talked good of Megadeth albums, even in 1986 in an interview he talks about Peace Sells, he is a fan, so who knows? Maybe he was playing Polaris.
Lars to Jason: "See, maybe you can play the drums better than me, but I can still turn down the volume of your bass for the next records...again and again"
Lars is 56. Idk why people expect him to play drums like he did on his twenties. At least be happy he's still alive and playing for the band we all grew up listening to.
Lars isnt as good as he could be for his age simply because he doesnt practice. Other guys around his age, like Danny Carey or Mike Mangini, play amazingly well for their age because they keep on practicing. But Lars has stopped trying to be good. With practice, he could be 10 times as good as he is now.
Buddy Rich was drumming Lars under the table into his 70s. Charlie Benante is older than Lars and he still kills it at every show. Lars just never was very good even in his prime and now he's old and doesn't practice.

@@Btron47 it doesnt, Danny Carey is older than Lars and can play like a god, Buddy Rich could play amazing things when he was in his 80s, Charlie Benante is a little bit oldet than Lars and can still play. Not saying that Lars totally sucks but he totally needs to practice again (trust me I've seen worse drummers out there)
Well, that was a pretty one-sided battle, wasn't it? James didn't stand a chance. But it's cool to see what crazy shit they did back then. Now all they do is play the same songs over and over. And it's not just them. So few bands realize a concert can be more than just a standard setlist.
Marty McTrap Touring is tough man and I am a touring drummer so I think I know at least a little about it. Big shows like that a lot of things have to come together to make it happen they’re working a big production playing in the round which is very hard part of the reason why a lot of bands only vary their setlist from leg to leg is that they have all the songs in a running order that corresponds to the lighting package they’re working with and how the FOH engineer hear the show and present it to the audience stage sound is way way different to the front of house mix that gets sent from the board through the PA, and unfortunately man some songs just sound shitty live either the production can’t be replicated or the band just can’t nail it. I agree it’s frustrating man but shows like this the fewer risks the better.
They change their set list up quite often and they do lots of cool little extras during the show, remember the Metallica boys are pushing 60 these days and play harder and faster than most half their age and all of the ones the same age.. I saw them in 2017 at the start of the "Hardwired" tour in Orlando and they were amazing, they blew away Volbeat and Avenged sevenfold...... one of these days they won't be around anymore and the world won't be the same\m/
@@roncriswell2685 amazing? All videos they've released from their 2017 shows are awful to mediocre, lars skipping beats and barely keeping on time, tempo may fluctuate alot during a song, kirk messing up solos and barely keeping on time, Rob & James have basically carried the band since 2012
you got it wrong man, the tall guy that won the battle is named James, the dude that lost is named Lars. Don't get me wrong he's a good drummer, People around here say he is the second best drummer in Metallica.
This hatred for Lars as a drummer is ridiculous. He is the reason most of you 30-40 yr olds wanted to play drums. Lars Ulrich deserves your god damn respect.
A smile on my face but a Demon inside Most drummers from 99% of thrash bands aren’t doing anything new. My humble opinion is Lars got A LOT hate before because of Napster, which was a understandable, but the band changed. They became hard rock with not much thrash. So has he gotten better? No... Is he still awesome? Fuck yeah. Metallica has 5 solid first albums that challenged the greats and in the process became one.
No, I owe my respects to Tommy Lee!! Lars gets away with being "ok" because he's in Metallica, hes not a bad drummer, he just needs to tighten the screws a bit.
Bunch of people bashing lars shut up!!!!!! No he's not the best drummer ever but he is a good drummer and he does the arrangements in the songs as well and he's pretty damn good at that James and Lars are the heart and soul of metallica. Metallica wouldn't be that successful without lars period
Not only nick menza, what if Dave Lombardo, Vinnie Paul and Igor cavalera were on the other drum kit still Lars wouldn't be able to match with their intense playing
