I really like the concept of coming up with an angerier version of a song already called St. Anger. And then starting it with such a calm first verse! Well done my man!
I kinda wish I hadn't seen this comment before the vocals kicked in 😂😂 Such a cool idea to start gentle rather than opening with a dropkick to the face, like the title might've made you expect. Top work
the automatic subtitles are hilarious: „st gucci around my neck , i‘ll make your booty quake like an earthquake. hard to see clear mr clean drinks a beer“ 😂😂😂😂😂🎉
el doble bombo es la esencia de Lars, aunque ahora lo meten en todos los covers, parecen todos iguales con la bateria a 10000 por hora, pero igual esta bueno el cover @@iamkiraz
Why does this get instantly better when you turn on captions? lmao Incredible work! Unironically one of my favorite Metallica songs, and this just made it even better.
CAPTIONS ARE 1/4TH OF THE PUZZLE, IF THEY AREN'T AN ADVENTURE THEN WHY ARE WE EVEN HERE Y'KNOW?? FOR REAL THO I'M HAPPY YOU HAD A GOOD TIME WITH THIS, IT'S IN MY TOP 5 TALLICA TRACKS FOR SURE
Todd....Damn....The progression of your screams from video to video, just gets better and better. Especially that Underoath video, Spencer better watch out. Totally here for all the metalcore flips. KEEP GOING!
Same exact thing for me. It holds a special place for me even with the hate it gets.

Hahaha, as the band who dampened the snare and added solos to St. Anger, I agree that none of those things "fix" St. Anger. The first time I heard St. Anger, it was what got me into Metallica, because it was exactly what my angry soul was looking for all those years ago. And yet, most of Metallica's fans didn't appreciate it for what it was and just wanted another Master of Puppets or Black Album. Our version was more like a "what would it have sounded like if someone took all of those gripes and actually addressed them" just to see how it would sound. It certainly came out sounding different (probably more like if St. Anger was on Hardwired), but we never claimed to have fixed that song; just reimagined. There have been some publications that claimed we may have fixed St. Anger, but I don't think anyone can truly capture all of the seething rage and bitter hatred Metallica were going through at the time and pour it into a track like that ever again the way they did. Not even Metallica could achieve that again.
OH HELL YEAH BRÖTHER 🖤 THANKS FOR CHECKING THIS OUT! JUST TO BE CLEAR THOUGH, A LOT OF WHAT I’M REFERENCING ARE THE VIDEOS ALL OVER RU-vid AND INSTAGRAM THAT OFTEN LITERALLY HAVE (FIXED) IN THE TITLE. YOUR REIMAGINING IS COOL AS FUCK AND I’VE LISTENED TO IT FRONT TO BACK NUMEROUS TIMES. I EVEN BRIEFLY CONSIDERED RIPPING A SOLO FOR FUNSIES IN THIS VERY COVER UNTIL I REALIZED YOU’D ALREADY DONE THE PERFECT SOLO IN THE SAME SPOT I WAS THINKING OF BTW I REALIZE THIS IS A RIDICULOUS COMMENT FOR ME TO BE TYPING IN ALL CAPS BUT I ALREADY COMMITTED TO THE BIT I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND

@@toddbarriage Before we dropped our version, I was only aware of one guy who did a full re-recording of St. Anger back in 2015 which was mostly to address the production woes, but didn't address the writing/composition gripes that people still had. After ours dropped, tons of people wanted us to do that same experiment with every other song on the album, but we weren't interested in releasing "St. Fan Service" because then it really would be like we were trying to claim to have the superior version of St. Anger. Now it seems like everybody is out there trying to claim to have fixed the whole album themselves, so I can barely even keep track of how many versions are out there now, let alone all the ones you must've seen. BTW, if your next song is gonna be "Some Kind of Monster but 23% more monstrous" it better have 8-string guitars and a cookie monster Brutal Slam breakdown to live up to that claim! I'll be looking forward to great things in the future!
St. Anger is great, a raw, furious, and honest sound. Nowadays, anyone can pretend to be a star by dressing everything up with technology and creating an authentic, perfect plastic wonder. I wore out the CD from listening to it so much back then, and I still do from time to time. St. Anger is irreplaceable.
This went way harder than I thought it would. Annoyed RU-vid stopped pushing notifications for songs despite having the bell rung so I'm going to definitely keep up with more on goings best I can. Keep pushing the limits!! 🤟
HELL YES, St Anger is in my like my top 5 Metallica songs and i think you really brought out the essence of what was always there: a really fucking great hardcore track. Hearing that "SET IT FRAAAAAY" from James in the og was always so cool, makes me wish he did dirties on the actual album. You SLAYED like usual honey!! 🤘❤
Odd take, but this is my favorite Metallica album, so thanks for covering the title track! I think “23% angrier” is accurate. 😅 Well done, sir! Great job as always!!
It's just more modern. It only sounds angry If you are angry . Just because you can scream and compress your vocals loud as f.... doesn't mean that this is brutal.
Didn’t Lars say at one point the snare sound was actually a suggestion by Bob Rock? Bob Rock was great for the band because he forced them to try new things. Bob Rock was also bad for the band because he forced them to try new things.
I felt the opposite. I felt like there was a lot of unnecessary fills (didn't add to anything), some of them were good but ...it kind of took away from the song.
If people ever ask me if I'm a Metallica fan, I say no, not really, purely because the fact that they asked means they are the type to dislike St Anger. I really love St Anger as an album, I do like other Metallica stuff, but Some kind of Monster and St Anger just spoke to me as a youngster and I hate that it's considered not ok to like it by so called fans... Great version of the song man, keep it up! :)
Metallica played at Rock am Ring in Germany in 2014. During the concert there was an online voting for them to play one of three songs. Near the end they stopped the voting. St. Anger had won by quite a margin. So they played St. Anger that day. I absolutely love that song and Some Kind of Monster. James said regarding the votes before they played it: "Yeah. It's an underrated song." With a sort of bittersweet pride and melancholy in his voice. It's unfair how much hate that song gets.
@@sharadmohip6536 There are these fun things called opinions. If the other guy thinks they're great songs, than they are great songs to him and there's nothing you can (or should) do about it.
It's great that you not claiming that you've done the "better version" of this or you "fixed" this song. I hate when people just spitting on this album thinking they are better composers than Metallica and proudly claiming "i did it better". Great cover and great approach of doing this
@@TRose-hc9pvIt’s more than that. The guitars, bass and vocals are better. The drums are played better. The production is better! And the arrangement of the song has been shortened which is so much better! Everything about this version is far superior than the original.
St. Anger is a misunderstood album, and this song always was a favorite of mine. I never expected to hear such a remake? retake? adaption? I am blown away by the production quality, the mixing is sublime, your vocals are mesmerizing, and wow, the intensity in this is on another plane. I am in awe. Instant sub, and all success to you.
ive always supported the idea that they had a couple of bad ideas here and they played it wrong but the album has many moments of proper shine and you made this justice, loved it
The subtitles for this I accidentally left on and I laughed my bum off, just going like I'll make ur booty quake Like an earthquake Hard to see clear Mr. Clean drinks a beer Now I wanna see an animatic of Mr. Clean drinking a beer lmao
Never isn't an awesome cover when done by Todd. And yeah, this one was awesome. Seriously, best cover of yours I've heard yet in my opinion! Amazing job! 🤘
Mr Clean drinks a beer. yall need to turn subtitles on and watch. lol. its great. thanks for the upload. now do the whole album. its a great one. very underrated. people may be mad about the snare, but danny carry likes to use no snares from time to time too, its just not as.. obnoxious like lars. lol.
I am not the type to comment on things but I just have to tell you, I've been binge watching all your videos and I am really impressed with your ability to re-imagine songs that I previously believed to be in a class that should be preserved and pure. Almost every time you hit the mark, and its done with such respect to the original artists. Great work man, keep it up.
I SUPER FKN APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO WATCH MY STUFF, AND TO GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH ME 🖤 GLAD YOU’RE ENJOYING MY CHANNEL!! I REALLY LOVE MUSIC Y’KNOW?
Yeeeah dude nice!!! Always loved this track. To me it was a ‘play everything you got as fast and loud as you can… but remember we’re making a song’ haha
That breakdown and chorus is absolutely one of my favourite parts in any song ever. I was having a real bad time at work recently and this part genuinely helped me get through my anger at the situation. Plus it just absolutely slaps in general!
That was amazing! Seeing as St. Anger came out when I was 11 it was, for better or much worse, my introduction to Metallica. With nothing else to compare it to I loved it. Now it's just nostalgic. 21 years later I'm still loving that ugly ass snare. 🤘 Frantick tick tick tick tick tick tock, maybe?
I first thought: Hold on, those are only 22%! But after listening to the whole song and analyzing the data, I can absolutely positively confirm the 23%. Precise work, my friend.
bravo!!!! bravo!!!! I also am one of few that love this album exactly as it is! this cover however was amazing, do a whole album reimagining of this! I can contribute!
Brilliant as expected! When ST anger came out I was a little disappointed, but I was comparing it to pretty much their entire back catalogue, which is pretty huge. The 2 previous albums, Load and Reload were this awesome blues rock kinda style and it was great! St anger wasnt exactly bad, but the whole mess behind the album was kinda sad. No more Jason Newsted.... That weird snare sound Lars insisted on throughout the entire album..... it was different. your cover of it here is evidence that the songs are good enough. They just needed a little something extra to cement them. I liked this better than the original for sure!
One of the best metallica covers I've heard. Well done. I'm not sure what genre your cover falls in to but I think it suits the song better than the original sound by miles.
Hey, thanks so much!! Idk what genre it really falls under either honestly; I don’t worry about that too much though. Some know-it-all usually comes along to make sure I know EXACTLY what sub-sub-subgenre I’ve concocted hahaha. I’m really stoked you enjoyed this
@@toddbarriage the band's been around since the 80's they were one of the originators of Industrial rock. I thought it would sound amazing if you did an extra angry version lol.
