@HorstKirkPageKian Kirk is definitely using a Wah. He has usually 3 or 4 placed around the stage so that he always has access to one. Plus given the camera angle, AND that metallica has their techs do all the switching off stage, i could see why it would be hard to tell. Great vid, thanks for uploading.

@Zodorac Hello, Kirk is using his wah as a filter, by leaving it either in the middle or slightly tipped with the toe down. He is using his neck pick up till 6:15 the switches to his bridge pick up. After the 6:15 part he uses the wah at liberty. I found that he is using more of an overdrive distortion with less gain to get more of a bluesy sound also. Most of his guitars he uses EMG active pick ups, EMG 60 in the neck and an 81 in the bridge. I hope this helps

Sounds so great. I love the little piano thing. I love it all. This song gets a little boring over time if you listen to it too much, as most of Death Magnetic for me, but I love it. I love every song from Hit The Lights to Suicide And Redemption That means every song they have sung, for the slow people.

@Zodorac I think he is playing with the neck pickup or with the middle position. I get such 'pseudo-wah' sound sometimes when playing through the middle switch position. If you watch closely at 6:15 you can see him switching to the neck pickup and there is an immediate switch of sound.

@tonyperkis615 I will argue that because of the way Metallica writes lyrics now saying he has more credits is a unfair comparison, everyone is in on it, wheras back in the day when Jason was around Hetfield wrote the lyrics exclusively no one else had a hand in it, so the rarities when Jason did have a writing credit are worth note, because most of the time they were fantastic songs.

@pillowpantsforlife2 I really don't see how. Rob is so fucking ridiculously talented. Just listen to his shit from Infectious Grooves. Plus He plays all the same songs as Jason did but better, and with fingers. Just watch the bass audition video from Some Kind of Monster, James and Kirk were blown away by how fast he can play with his fingers. Creatively he's better too, with more musical credits than Jason with only one album under his belt.
