@@Gopnikkgb This is all personal. I started off neutrally listening to metallica and started load, black album and kill em all in that order. Well I didn't think the kill em all vocals were really good and I don't think so now as well. James Hetfield himself seems to think the same. Forget technique, forget that he was just yelling, they are aggresive but aggresive isn't always good. And those weren't tracked well to begin with. Indistinct...for a band that just started it was ok I guess. I like how he handled puppets and justice and the live justice era was on the metal pantheon of live vocals along with all the other greats. But he started singing because he actually lost his voice and that led to the hetfield we know today. And he had a lot to offer regardless of the yelling. For me his kill em all vocals suck, I still love the songs to death but live I prefer to hear them in the justice era tour. Modern times they did very well on the through the never movie and unfortunately when he started drinking again on the 2019 and on tour...
Makes me think of my dad who passed 2018. I was his little rocker kid. He said the first song I knew was One by Metallica and by the time I was old enough to pick my own music this was my fav go-to song. Air drums and head banging for life. 🤘
@@goldenwolf8081 I hope you don't break your word. Music like this is not made nowadays by these new bands. What is being done now has no quality whatsoever. Music for fast consumption that after 1/2 years is no longer heard. This is music that when you are my age you will still hear it if people of your generation continue to promote it. So the responsibility is yours. Hugs from Portugal to you and to everyone like us.
@@jamescavalera I will not break my word this is real music! Not the garbage mumble stuff today! It’s seriously messed up how mumble music can makes millions of dollars and people call is legendary it’s not METALLICA IS LEGIT AND LEGENDARY!! Future generations will never learn or appreciate Metallica AC/DC or def leopard I feel bad for them
@@goldenwolf8081 Like you there are many. Your generation and others ahead or to come, there will be many people listening to good music. Don't lose hope. Hope is the last one to die. Big hug.
I went to a country school when I was a kid in the 80s, listened to motley crue and ozzy, stuff like that, mostly because my older brother listened to them and he was my access to music. A new kid came to my school who was into thrash and heavy metal. He let me borrow Garage Days. I probably listened to that cassette 150 times that weekend. It blew me away. After that, I listened to what ever thrash metal I could get my hands on. Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Nuclear Assault,Helloween, Anthrax, D.R.I. , Suicidal Tendencies! Aww man, I wish I could relive it.
You still can. Just blast them every day. It's hood to feel nostalgic in every single sense of the emotion. Look at it as where you're st now and how the song meanings have evolved your knowledge.
Always get a nostalgic buzz from this song and Garage Inc in general, adored listening to it as a kid. Still underrated imo, the covers are fucking great.
Wow. The bass guitar is so much more pronounced on this version. Killer remaster! I'm excited for Newstead. Come on . . . And Justice for All" remaster!!

Best song in the EP, if you ask me, love how dark and heavy this cover sounds. And now it sounds even better now, specially the bass which is louder in this remaster, just awesome.
@@arttusjoblom1878 Somebody already remastered some songs of AJFA, including Blackened, look for And Justice For Jason songs, or the name of the song plus Bass Boosted...
I'm confident ...And Justice (now with more Jason) remaster is next. Please Metallica, give us what we want and the money will keep flowing. Win-win situation for everyone
I'm not confident. The problem with all these fan versions of AJFA with bass is that's not how a correctly mixed album would have sounded, if they just turn up the bass in the mix, it still won't sound right. There is bass frequency on the album but it's coming from the drums, the frequencys of the whole thing would have to be altered, the bass frequency needs to come from the bass guitar and the whole thing needs to be balanced, i'm not confident James and Lars can get past their egos, and give either the original mixer or somebody new with talent the free reign to reshape, remix and remaster the whole thing, if they don't do that, the whole exercise is pointless. There's an interview online with the original mixer which is worth watching, he says the raw files may not even be usable now.
IbanezDave James already said they aren't going to really mess with that, because that's the way the album turned out in the first place, and it's a part of Metallica's history.
All the answers about the remix/remaster confusion are right, my mistake. I know the band said they didn't want to remix And Justice, but other "impossible" things have happened in the world of rock, like GnR or Misfits reuniting, or Metallica and Dave Mustaine being friends again, so I have faith
Eddie Höek they wont touch ajfa. I read an interview with the producer, he said the master tape was so cut up edits that its unlikely it has survived all these years.
Garage Days needs to come back in a big way! Such a great album! What an honor to have Metallica cover your song! Has anyone thought about it that way? So cool and how cool would it be NOW IF THEY MADE ANOTHER GARAGE DAYS? I THINK ITS TIME! PLEASE GUYS! PLEASE?
I listened to this loads of times when I was big into Metallica, then I got into Killing Joke and couldn't accept anything but the original for many years, and now, the day after the news of Killing Joke's guitarist's death broke, I've finally come full circle and decided this is a pretty good attempt at capturing the sheer darkness and chaos of early Killing Joke even if they didn't quite nail it. Kudos to Metallica.

I listened to this song so many times on my Walkman, I wore out the cassette. Then I bought the CD from Columbia House. You kids have no idea what I'm talking about.
I do I bought this album in 1987 when I was 13 years old and I bought many CD and cassettes from Columbia house I know what ur talking about and I wish I can go back
I discovered Metallica in 7th grade which would have been 86/87 so I also know what you're talking about. I'll admit to being spoiled by RU-vid and wouldn't go back to cassettes though I still use CDs
I really dropped off with these guys for many many years. And just recently have put Ride the Lightning into heavy rotation and realized again what a masterpiece it truly is. It's now leading me into The Garage Days and how unbelievable Newstead really is.
FYI: Original Garage Days B side of Creeping Death had 2 songs done with Cliff Am I Evil & Blitzkrieg - Recorded during Ride Tje Lightening. *$5.98 ep was Jason's first recordings...
Had this on cassette in the 80's. CD in the 90's and I'm buying it again on Vinyl in 2021. The price keeps going up but the songs are still amazing! Also: Vito Bratta and Mike Tramp (White Lion) didn't write this song. Jaz Coleman, and the rest of Killing Joke, wrote it in the late 70's.
everything's magnificent in this cover. Song in itself is amazingly haunting. Mighty bass !! Drums!! Vocals with effects !! and super saturated almost noise guitar ! and....wow...the solo is out of this world, i just can't get enough of it :)
mm its not a cover its taken from an earlier album and they remastered it 😂 its obviously in yhe title and it would be mentioned that its a cover, neither of y'all know what your talking about
