Dando continuidade ao projeto... dessa vez a música é "You Must Burn!"
Quem conhece os clássicos do "Black Album", vai se familiarizar com essa música. Ela lembra muito "Sad But True" por conter um riff lento e pesado, além da sua entrada na bateria contar com acentuação nos pratos e batidas na caixa com pausa na mão esquerda, as quais serepetem por toda a música.
SOBRE A BATERIA: É uma bateria simples com os tradicionais "backbeat" que jogam a atenção na guitarra. Seria uma música fácil de tocar ao vivo, mas difícil de seguir exatamente o que foi gravado em estúdio. Lars abusa de momentos espontâneos e não segue um padrão nas viradas, que apesar de serem parecidas sempre mudam alguma coisa e reproduzir exatamente igual sobre o take original é algo que exige muito mais da memória do que da técnica e disposição física.
De minha parte, acrescentei poucos detalhes e dois "breakdowns" curtos ao final da música.
SOBRE A LETRA: Ela trata de um tema que é, aparentemente, atual: a "cultura do cancelamento". Porém, os versos fazem referência à episódios da história humana fazendo-nos refletir sobre a ideia de que o cancelamento sempre ocorreu e não estamos tão distantes da temporada de caça às bruxas e das fogueiras medievais. A letra, portanto, é uma denúncia contra a a hipocrisia atual, o cerceamento da liberdade de expressão, a falta do exercício do diálogo, da alteridade, da incapacidade do convívio social racional e do espaço para o contraditório por parte da população considerar-se superior.
Obs.: A gravação foi feita minutos antes de eu receber a notícia de que meu pai havia sofrido um AVC.

Continuing the project... this time the song is "You Must Burn!"
Anyone who knows the classics from the "Black Album" will be familiar with this song. It is very reminiscent of "Sad But True" as it contains a slow and heavy riff, and the intro has a entry on the drums with accents on the cymbals and hits on the snare drum with a pause in the left hand, which are repeated throughout the song.
ABOUT THE DRUMS: It's a simple drum lines with traditional "backbeats" that focus attention on the guitar. It would be an easy song to play live, but difficult to follow exactly what was recorded in the studio. Lars uses spontaneous moments and does not follow a pattern in his fills, which despite being similar always change something and reproducing exactly the same over the original take is something that demands much more from memory than from technique and physical disposition.
For my part, I add small details and two short "breakdowns" at the end of the song.
ABOUT THE LYRICS: It deals with a topic that is apparently new: “cancel culture”. However, the verses make reference to episodes in human history, making us reflect on the idea that cancellation has always occurred and we are not so far from the witch hunting season and medieval bonfires. Therefore the lyrics are a denunciation against current hypocrisy, the curtailment of freedom of expression, the lack of exercise of dialogue, otherness, the inability of rational social coexistence and the space for contradiction on the part of the population considered superior.
Note: The recording was made minutes before I received the news that my father had suffered a stroke in the brain.
