Yeah, I saw them on the Damaged Justice tour (in 1989) for this album and the huge Lady Justice statue falling to pieces as the song neared its end was pretty epic. They also had part of the light rigging "snap/explode" and swing down, as if some sort of mishap happened. I remember Jason jumping up acting as if he was trying to grab onto the swinging lights and rigging, but it was out of his reach. Cool sequence in the show to conclude it. Yeah, I think they did two encores after that, though. lol

also "Whipping dance of the dead" is synonym of Old europe words "Dance of the Dead" that was used in phylosophy and mostly by church in Medieval & Renaissance time, that mean "the imminence of death and a summons to repentance." And in Latin i belive it was close words to Memento Mori- we all die anyway. @@JohnTheDoeDoe It's about global thermonuclear warfare. Which is what people were worried about in 1989. It's really not hard to figure it out. Look at the lyrics with that in mind. "Whipping dance of the dead" is the violent motion that happens from the shockwave of a nuclear blast. Trees whip away from the blast and then back after the shockwave passes. "Deadly nicotine, kills what might have been." Is a reference to nuclear weapons proliferation. Russia and the USA were addicted to making more and more world killing weapons.

All I have to say about Neutral Milk Hotel is that if you like one of their songs you automatically like 90% of their songs. But after Judson's sincere reflection on the consequences of Richard's sudden, self-inflicted, and so far hypothetical demise I am willing to forgive him for everything.

I haven't heard anything after Load that i much liked tbh. I love the first five albums.

Reaction. Children of the grave - Black Sabbath. It's a perfect song for these moments 🤘🏼🤘🏼

You REALLY need to have him listen to The Human Abstract. Such an incredible fusion of classical music with progressive metal.
