I love that during the duel Toki's guitar parts are all left speaker and Swisgar's are all right speaker. Hail Dethklok. Hail Brendon.

I like how even though Toki lost, Skwisgaar let him in the band anyway because nobody else was capable of pushing him that far. Sometimes it's not about winning, it's about showing that you won't be completely overshadowed.

Probably the only time Skwisgarr gave Toki any kind of recognition. :(

I could listen to the initial guitar riff during Pickles part at the start forever and never get bored.

This show is simply beyond godlike. The mix of hilarious fun and insanely good music... fuck me my mind can't take it.

This makes me wish Guitar Hero was still around. This would make a wicked battle song

The rhythm guitar player is always under appreciated. They’re main job is to make the lead guitarist sound good, which requires to have as solid time as the drummer , and also never over-playing, which both take a lot of discipline and control.

I LOVE Brendon's Skwisgaar voice in this well, I love Brendon's everyone voice always but still Skwisgaar is extra hammy in this

This is certainly tokis childish perspective on the brutality of the duel... but you cant disregard the fact that murderface played tremendous rhythm for this duel and pickles absolutely nailed the drum pattern for the 2 legends shred style. I'd say it was mostly a band effort that made the duel a strong moment for toki. Murderfaces hatred ridden tone, pickles tenacity and speed, skwisgaaars destruction and tokis sheer happiness to be a part of it all makes dethklok a force rather than a band. They stand for so much more than music in the world they live in

This is a guitar duel, and yet when combined with Some Time Ago, there's a lot of times when the standout is Pickles, either on Drums or Vocals.

The Wiki says that if you look at the divine power that Skwisgaar is supposed to represent its Life and the power of it. The Tribunal figured out awhile back that whether he wants it or not Toki is the embodiement of Death.(Hence he is the perfect counter to Skwisgaar) His nature balances him out and makes him a good guy but it limits his intensity and focus. Honestly wonder how good he would be if he stopped screwing around so damn much. On that same note also wonder how good Magnus must have been before he lost his damn mind because if he weren't up to at least near that same level Skwigaar and Nathan wouldn't have tolerated him in the band at all.

If Toki could only let go of his fear, he would be fully on par with Skwisgaar.

No, Toki has always been slightly worse than Skwisgaar. He secretly fear that Toki will one day become better than him which is why he never allows him to be the lead. That's why in the episode he finds out he was the lead guitarist in Thunderhorse he freaked out. Same with the episode where he gets a guitarist teacher. Toki is the second fastest guitarist in the series and that bothers Skwisgaar.

Poor Toki is a godlike guitarist but Skwisgaar constantly mocks him :(

1:49 - 2:13 is just an earthshaking force of nature. I cant describe it in better terms than that.

I'm the only one who feels its kind of weird that Toki's spirit animal is an eagle in the duel while during the rest of the series its have been imlpied its cats? I think a panther would had been a more appropiate transformation during the duel, oh well i'm just talking unimportant shit, what is important is how sick this song is, i fucking love the intro riff and the duel

It just dawned on me that it's a shame we didn't actually get a song of/prior to Magnus getting kicked out. Itd be nice to actually hear a song of him going from telling with the band, to clashing both in tone and in style/lyrics.

I love how hard that inital guitar note sounds.

If they made a full version of the duel (without Toki chocking at the end) i would pay 10x the itunes, spotifiy, whatever cost just to hear it once.

Amazing. The music, the lyrics, the drama, the feelings… I miss the show so much.

Fan interpretation time:- * In the previous song "Abigails Lullaby"; Abigail suggests to Toki Wartooth to remember his fondest, greatest moment he ever had while in the single most appalling, horrific conditions imaginable through a genuinely sweet-hearted number * What is truly striking though (IMPO) is that with other folks who have their fondest memories in a lot of other fiction; they tend to be the centre of attention & make themselves out to be the greatest person in the presence of all... But oddly enough; Toki doesn't seem to do that, this fondest memory of his seems to be told in a pretty honest way. * It's not known to the fullest extent if the other bandmates truly informed Toki of the actual events but he seems to honestly imagine the scenes as follows:- 1. The Lowdown- this sets up the situation with the band after the firing of Magnus Hammersmith & Pickles knowing they need a Rhythm Guitarist to begin creating an album to rock the world. 2. However; Swisghaar arrogantly boasts how because he's such a talent that Dethklok should be a 4 man act which he can cover all aspects of Guitar! Pickles shows Swisghaar the immense number of auditioners who have answered the call to become Dethkloks Rhythm Guitarist (This tells us that though Dethklok isn't famous yet, they've certainly earned a revered & respected reputation in the underground of Metal) so Pickles offers Swisghaar a challenge- "Defeat ALL of the auditioners & he can have his wish" 3. & Swisghaar proceeds TO. DO. JUST. THAT!!! (1172 Auditioners) thus declaring himself 'A wizard & sorcerer' of the guitar! (Perhaps he should include Warlock as well? Swisghaar rolling a Natural 20 on the challenge) however Nathan Explosion notices the door knocking & demands the entrant to arrive & its Toki. * He's a little younger minus facial hair & he's meek, polite & rather nervous (however notice his shadow when he's introduced is in the shape of a hawk indicating a potentially proud, valiant spirit) the rest of the band are rather skeptical with Pickles exhibiting a little curiosity, Nathan very skeptical & William Murderface?.... Well he's being William Murderface! *Swisghaar decides to allow this newcomer to challenge him but indicate in a somewhat Tongue-in-cheek way it's going to be a pity to destroy Toki as he did with the others. The Duel! * Swisghaar begins & unsurprisingly Toki is deterred (no blaming him) however unlike the auditioners, he draws out his guitar & then proceeds to MATCH Swisghaar! Much to the "Surprise" of the other bandmates, Pickles showing the most surprise! * The battle itself begins with Swisghaar shape-shifting into a Centaur-horse human hybrids who are known to be exceptionally lecherous creatures & Toki shapeshifts into a male version of a Harpy- bird/women said to be a manifestation of Zeus' wrath! & both continue the duel in the clouds with lightning firing from their guitars. The scene hilariously switches to the pair dressed in Baroque attire akin to Mozart & Beethoven & with straight faces & expert use of their pinky fingers continue to duel (properly starting to enjoy themselves) The climax- Both Swisghaar & Toki back in their trademark attire ascend into the clouds with their respected animals spirits behind them (Swisghaar-Horse & Toki-Hawk) & Toki is in the zone..... However, the storm clouds gathering may indicate that Toki is starting to realise the monumental mountain he's having to climb being Swisghaar is becoming all too apparent! & Sadly; the immense tension causes Toki to fumble & he falls to his knees.... Defeated! However, Toki is still intact as the other auditioners got obliterated rather unceremoniously! The bandmates express their disappointment with Pickles showing the most sympathy (as much as he will allow) Nathan being rather blunt in his honesty with William just telling him "politely" to GTFO here! Conclusion:- With Toki leaving dejected & hopes dashed; Swisghaar of all folks waits outside & offers him a revelation (which is surprisingly humble for such a narcissist) * Swisghaar admits that until Toki came around:- NOBODY was able to keep up with him, proved a good challenge & actually got him to do something he hasn't done in a long time...... TRY! & as a way to say "Thank you" he allows Toki Wartooth to join Dethklok as their Rhythm Guitarist much to Toki's delight!

This sequence brings tears of joy to my eyes - but I've got a soft spot for epic guitarplay :)
