Thats a sweet little quad!!!! Im still waiting on my Beta65x and my Qx90c pro 2 be fixed!! So happy i have a friend who likes fixing quads!!!! Man i can't wait to fly!!! My wife wants me out and its breaking my heart!! I love her and our 18 month old baby girl so much and i feel like im lost with out them. We have been married 7 years together for 13 and she just wants me to move out.......... I have done nothing and i haven't had a drink in 3 years! But i guess the wife is always right! Sorry for the long comment im just going threw a really bad time in life. Thank god i have a hobby that i can do to take my mind off things for a little. I just need my whoops and my Qx7 back so i can start flying!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for another great review!!! 👍😀👍

It is possible that FC comes stock with a project mockingbird setup which might cause those snaps as it has some very aggressive PIDS.

What's the weight difference between BT2 and XT30? Is it really worth the confusion with yet another connector type?

@@Gosuminer Not sure, but I suspect its a good bit lighter than xt30. The BT2.0 is a bit smaller than ph2.0, more metal less plastic.

Great review. Love your informative opinion on quad products. On the topic of coating the canopy with welder or equal equivalency, I have been using a product called Plasti-dip spray. It's a pretty common item in a hardware store. Works great and doesn't seem to add alot of weight. Note that I haven't actually weighed the difference of the two on scales, but you can feel the difference in flight. Anyway thought I'd share that with you. And thanks again for providing these helpful reviews for us.

I wonder how this would go with another 50 - 100Mah or so battery capacity. It looks like it could carry the additional weight easily, and this should give it ~ 4min flight time which sounds about right for the overall power/weight ratio. Seems to me that'd be a sweet spot. BT2 looks great. Certainly seems there's loads of small improvements across the board, which add up to a best in class scenario. BetaFPV are just on fire in the whoop class & micros in general. Interested to hear how the NBD Azi props are in future vids if possible.. Anyways, thoroughly enjoying the channel - thanks Nick!

With the weight being a bit different than what I used, and the batteries likely being different. I suggest having it a 3.34 and see what they come back to at the end of the flight on disarm.

I had the original .08 shaft 0603 motors on the UR65 and when I changed the original props, they came off so hard that it literally pulled the shafts off the motors hence the 0802 motor change.

The props do wallow out on those from everyone I have talked to with one both said that they had a issue with the props coming lose.

The prop material isn't resiliant enough, it needs to give enough to slide on but not more.

How do you get such good reception? What antennas are you you using? I have Commanders with a triple feed and cloverleaf and still get break up when going up and down levels indoors. Your videos and reviews are the best, you are definitely the go to you tuber for me Thanks

I am using the skyzone 03O with two axii antennas. I think my house has a fair bit to do with it as well. Open floor plan and where I sit is also the best location. If I fly from the basement the reception isn't nearly as good. Also try turning off the wifi, it could be interfering.

Not a fan of the low flight time. Everything below 3 minutes gets a little annoying in my opinion. The new connector though is pretty cool. Hope it gets adapted by other manufacters.

This is ripe for the Mr. Shutterbug mod to strip it of some of that extra weight. Batteries seem really good except for added weight so removing some elsewhere will let them shine. Thanks Nick for the always thorough review!

A few easy mods: remove VTX antenna and replace with a wire (or even a 2.4GHz tx antenna as Mr. Shutterbug likes to do) cut to length, replace the bulky betafpv camera mount and the metal screws and you're probably already at about 21g. Then if you wanna go hard core remove motor connectors and cut some bits of the frame. They did quite a good job with the new mold though, it's just over 3g and lowest I got their old frame by cutting a lot was 2.7g. Anyway you could probably get it down to somewhere around 19-20g total dry. Put 0603 motors on it and you pretty much have Mr. Shutterbug's latest build :)

kudos to betafpv for that 'BT2.0' connector type. Looks very wear resistant and much better than PH2.0. I think I'll change all my 1S lipos and my entire fleet. Only the white/blue color coding of the pigtails they sell is kind of confusing. Hope I keep track and get it right on every lipo or bumm

In the 1s category I would have to compare to the UR/UK65. I think the meteor fram and motors will last longer than the UR/US65, but the canopy on the US65 has adjustable camera angle and its durable, also I believe the US65 had longer flight times.

Sadly to much weight. Its nearing the top end for 1s whoops. The newbeedrone canopies are much more durable, but I don't have one to weigh against.

Quick tip: Hey guys, the meteor65 was my first drone and I initially had a lot of trouble with the throttle, trying to get it to hover or at least be stable, basically not enough resolution on the transmitter. I followed Oscar liangs PID and rates but changed throttle MID to 0.7 and changed throttle curve expo to 60 on the radio. This moves the throttle input that is needed to hover to the flat spot on the curve, around 0, thus providing a lot more resolution for micro adjustments. I believe this is critical for indoor flying to prevent from shooting up into the ceiling and bouncing up and down vertically. After 2 days, being a complete beginner, I can zoom around the living room at almost full speed. Btw, i have the 19000kv with Taranis x9d, so you might have to move your throttle MID if you have 22000kv.

Great review as usual, awesome flying as usual! Looks like you might have to break down and invest in some of those BH 2.0 batteries. I personally don't have any yet, but I have a feeling with the ease of connection and disconnection and the amp draw you refer to, that these will become the norm very soon. I believe there's an adapter to switch to PH 2.0 but not sure where I saw it as it might have been something that was made by a friend. I might have to break down and finally buy one of these Beta whoops. I just wonder how you think this stacks up against the Mobula 6?

I like the mobula6 better, those 2+grams makes a big difference. I have converted a few batteries to bt2.0. Converting was a bit more work than I would want to do for a host of my batteries.

I just can't. No other batteries on the market with the Bt2.0 connector. I think the 0802 might have been overkill, but could have been as small as they could go with a bearing in the motor.

@Nick Burns I just got the Black Friday Special Edition Meteor65 for $103. Tune was terrible, so loaded Mr. Shutterbug's tune from his Meteor review. Was still on Dshot 600 so I set to Dshot 300 and reversed props. Now it flies awesome on 22000kv motors, @ to @ time ripping around the house. Very fun whoop! One tip: I lined the inside of the canopy with a layer or two of Kapton tape which weighs almost nothing. Many hard crashes right on the canopy, no cracks yet.

Nick - have you tried the Welder’s mod on the BetaFPV “egg shell” canopies? Just coat a thin layer of Welder’s adhesive inside the canopy. Maybe a little thicker in areas where you crack the shells the most will make them even more resilient to impacts, but do keep it as thin as you can to keep the weight down.

I haven't. Not as a defense, I tend to try to leave RTFs as stock as I can. If I forget to mention a preventative step I took to keep the quad in impeccable shape it could lead to purchasers not being aware of what they are buying. I try to think of the silent majority, over 2k views in 12 hrs and only 100+ comments, many are watching and don't ask or comment. I try to keep them in mind.

@@NickBurnsFPV - Point well made and I agree. However, it wasn't really my intent to make a direct reference to this particular model, but rather to the BetaFPV "egg shell" canopies, as you so succinctly described them. *They are so inherently fragile as to be almost worthless, yet the quad does look far better with a canopy than without one.* I am tempted to make my own mold to form my own version with a better grade of plastic. Perhaps when I have time to do so I will, but until then the Welders glue hack has greatly increased their longevity, at least for me it has...lol

@@frankbarajas I did see where someone made a canopy from the bottom of a 2liter soda. I think it was just cutting the right area and shape. that would be a tough canopy.

@@NickBurnsFPV - Wow! That would be tough. Back in my RC car days (mid-80s) we use to have polycarbonate body shells that we strong as can be, yet fairly light weight. I'm not saying something like that but at least a little thicker than the paper thin fragile shells we have now.

The motor shafts are 1mm and most whoop props are .8mm. Just find 1mm ones. Also, were you d8? Or maybe it was dshot600? It should be dshot300 and probably 8k/2k

The first quad I ever preordered. I love that they finally did something with the connectors we were all complaining about, I am becoming a BetaFPV fan more and more. Not a fan of those canopies though, but overall looks great. I’m gonna try go get mine down to 20-21g with a few mods. As for props, these shafts are 1mm, maybe some props you tried were for 0.8mm shafts?

Funny thing is that I fly good in acro outside and am utterly horrible inside for some reason. I think it is due to the little UR65 that I fly is very twitchy and ever since I put the 0802 motors on it, it is a little rocket ship!

Throttle control inside is a choir and takes time to get a grasp on it. Super tiny and many changes. Outside is much more forgiving due to additional space. It all just takes time. Back when we were flying brushed micros inside throttle control wasn’t as difficult but we had much less thrust for corrections so our lines need to be more accurate

Unfortunately it only comes with 1 battery now and the only place i can find new batteries is from betafpv directly and takes about a month to ship. It Does come with a ph2.0 now and ships with gemfan triblade 1219 props

I would look at the documentation on the betafpv website, they generally do a good job. It might not be on the meteor65 section but the board itself.

Very interesting. I was looking to replace my old e011 brushed 65mm quads at some point soon. Before this the best option looked to be the US/UK 65. Now thou I am thinking this could be a good idea. Those new battery connectors look great. They are doing a free give away ATM via a discount code. I've ordered a couple of 4 packs :)

I suspect this frame and motor is more durable with a longer life. Mainly a bushing vs bearing issue. The US65 is a good quad and the canopy is very durable with adjustable camera angle, longer flight times to boot. It comes down to which items we see as most important. I could be wrong on the flight times, its been awhile since the US/UK65 🤔

Nick Burns with 0802 19000kv motors the ur65 is awesome (3.5 to 4 min flight time on 300mah). That crazybee f3 redboard has been going strong over a year now. I like that there is innovations in whoop design but the meteor is quiet a lot more expensive than the ur65 for what it is. I think I’d love it if there were more prop options than there currently are for brushless whoops. Mobula6 review coming soon I hope!?

Hi Nick! You are looking so good in front of the camera now! Very professional! 😎 What's your opinion on whether this flies any better than the slightly lighter US65... AndyRC calls it his favorite 1s brushless who0p. I had the UR65 and it was awfully good. It's $68 bucks!... This BETAFPV is $110. One could buy 3 of the UR65's for 16 dollars less than 2 of the Meteor's! And, it has proprietary batteries and connector, a canopy that cracks within the first few flights, props that are very close to proprietary too, it sounds like! Lol You only get 2 of those new batteries, so that's an automatic extra expense, making it essentially double the price. The UR65 or US65/UK65 uses a variety of standard batteries and props, and I've never broken either canopy I've owned. *Proprietary is a 4 letter word IMO.* I NEVER BUY IT. Plus, we must ask, is it really any better for nearly 40% more? Do we really need 0802 motors flying in our house? Not the best value purchase, that's for sure! I'm staying with the US65. 🤔🤘

It is very hard to steer away from the US65 value and flight performance. To draw out the "improvements" I would say the frame seems more durable and the low end of the throttle a bit more responsive. But the UR65 has adjustable camera angle and I thought it had slightly long flight times. I have some excitement about the bt2.0 connector, but if it remains with betafpv I won't be happy. I think even if we have to have a short ph2.0 to bt2.0 adapter it could be worth it in longevity and performance. But again only if we can have a host of battery manufacturers with the bt2.0 connector. I do think they could have gone with 070x motors, but I wonder if the bearing was a size limiting factor. I wonder and hope that the bearing will help motor performance longevity.

Question. My brushed whoop gets intangle with hair or carpetfibers when i crash into carpet. (On those you take prop off to clean it since motor is enclosed). What happenes on brushless whoops. Does carpet fibers get intangle inside the motor too?

Yes, taking off the prop is the best way to clear hairs/etc. The same happens with brushless its initially not as dramatic.

similar, I think the low end of the throttle is better and likely could handle 4 bladed props well.

I thought "Ah, it has an egg shell canopy" then I noticed that your canopy is white and is cracked like an egg shell as those style canopies always do so it is def. a good name for them. To me this is a quad for someone just getting their first 65mm quad and their first set of batteries and the main reason why is that if you are like me and you have 20 of the 300mah 1s and 15 450mah 1s with ph2.0 connectors I am not really inclined to run out and buy this and buy all new batteries. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the new connector but unless you want to throw your money away if you already have batteries it would be a "get the new connector, make an adapter and slowly replace your old batteries to new as you go" situation.

all true. I am more hopeful long term. If the bt2.0 become adopted for performance it could become a high demand thing. I know GNB is being asked about it. We could use our ph2.0 connector with an adapter to transition eventually to bt2.0. Maybe. I also hope the connector will have better longevity. I often suggest a new ph2.0 connector to those suffering performance issue with the ph2.0. They do positively respond after switching it out.

@@NickBurnsFPV it kinda like tar but it fully cures to a hardened rubber. Sense it sprays on it looks almost like bed liner. Which could be a cool finish if you wanted to do both in and outside.

I wouldnt say sticky. It's just like a thin film world durable rubber. It will be more forgiving when taking a hit. Think of it like a non glass screen protector for your phone. It hold together better like triple pained glass. Also keeps weight now and it you have a custom shell you wanna hold onto for a while its perfect to pray just the inside.

Its hard to say, The two different cameras fov really can make the sense of speed different. If I had to guess I would think in actual speed the tinyhawk is likely faster.

Nick, I want to purchase this quad, but it is only available from GetFPV with the XM+ and the new Access garbage. I have a new Jumper T18 Pro V2 radio, but have had to downgrade all my new XM+ receivers. This receiver is integrated on the AIO board. Do you know of a vid or article that shows how to flash an AIO board with the older version of FrSky protocol?

I do not know of a video or guide for that. I wonder if it’s even possible. But are we certain it’s not running standard d8. It would be very unusual if it were running the new firmware while being part of the AIO

@@NickBurnsFPV I contacted GetFPV and asked them and was told that it was using the new Access protocol. I have downgraded many external XM+ receivers, but have never attempted to downgrade the firmware on an AOI SPI receiver. They returned that quad and I purchased a quad from them that is DSMX which I know will bind to the jumper.

@@NickBurnsFPV I was told that it would need to be downgraded, which most likely the person was incorrect. It worked out great because I wanted a quad with ELRS and GetFPV did not have any so they graciously refunded the money and I purchased a ELRS version from Pyrodrone. I do love the ELRS and have five new quads and a sixth on the way to prove the fact!

Man every beta fpv video I see, the canopy is always broken, they need to get some newbeedrone canopy’s. And them azi props are amazing, there super efficient and add some flight time to my beebrain lite

@@mikehedrick4349 I don't believe its definitively better, I wonder if the new connector, and motors will run true longer than the US65. The bushings tend to wear down, decreasing flight time and performance over time, where these Meteor motors have bearings. I see the same performance issue with ph2.0 connectors, they wear down over time. Otherwise not really much of a difference in flight performance, the 0802 motors have more low end torque.

gemfan (and tbs) made their damn props too big by nearly 2mm on both the 65 and 75mm versions for basically all whoop frames. i've got packs of them i won't use because trimming them is pointless and the HM model props are fine.

@@NickBurnsFPV well technically its a right angle 90*, then when you solder up the leads you put them at 90* as well, which adds up to a 180 connector.. (I think) Justin Davis showed it on his chan with PH2's. pretty slick mod. interestingly solid PH2 are easier to find in right angle.
