but nobody mentions that methanol is actually better used in electric cars than just combustion.. it's the best way of storing hydrogen to be safe, needs no pressure and cooling, and is electric energy transferrable in seconds like a normal fuel.. also it produces heat when undergoing splitting in fuel cell, which is perfect for heating the car in winter, not using precious electricity for that.. it can be produced in huge quantities from electricity surplus in solar/wind power to be used later.. that's the main goal why to go for it, as a molecular hydrogen battery
Im a university researcher studying methanol. I've come to understand much its properties especially with combustion, but I still am not sure if fuell and electrolysis cells are good methods for the use of methanol. I understand the advatages of cells some you've mentioned but is the power output and resouce management there? I'm not convinvced.
Awesome documentary. why i'm watching this video i'm an accountant a chemical company during the working with invoices i see a methanol material just knowing purpose i watched this video.
K. L. But you need free hydrogen to form methane from CO2 and as long as short sided people want to make massive prophets from energy we will be stuck.
