That Wu-Tang album Once upon a time in Shaolin. It sold for 2 million dollars. RZA whole concept behind that album puts his ways of thinking in a different league.
@@gunchief0811 agreed hands down. Wutang in general don't get nearly the props they should as ground breaking influencers of style. Both on a production level AND lyrical technique.
1) the beats 2) the lyrics 3)the timberlands boots 4) the atmosphere they rep e,g subways tunnels the staircases 5 the marvin gaye hoodies This is the ingredients for hardcore rap music
@@giverofharmony5491 Naw it's a goes hand in hand, You could have the best Lyrics ever. But without a Beat? Your dead! This is the oldest question in time, Which come first the Chicken or the Egg? Which comes first? The MC or the DJ? The MC Method Man Blazed it! The DJ RZA Cooked the Beat! It's called Perfection Symbiosis. Two Turn Tables & a Mic!!
Danny Galaxxy I agree the beat is good, and it can definitely enhance a song, but I personally feel that without well crafted lyrics, well, you barely have a hip hop song
I feel like RZA's beats make Method man's Tical sounds spooky, especially "bring the pain", "Biscuits", "all I need," "Mr. Sandman." Its one of my favorite albums ever.
This is why he is my favorite. Hip Hop came from the streets and that’s where he kept the entire video. No cars, no half nekkit women, no big houses, no big jewels. Straight HipHop
Happy 51st birthday Meth 🎉🎉🎉! Your style in hip hop is thee most dopest thing I’ve ever seen, keep doing what you doing champ, you are a legend in my book.
This video was just so much more fuckin raw than anything else out by this time. Onyx was just a bunch of guys jumping around singing and Das Efx stood around in the sewer holding baseball bats. Method Man looked like the grim fucking reaper on a greyhound with an entire clan of equally grimy henchmen. And the words were just so crafty and raw. There will never be another 1994.
No diss, I'm actually a fan of Onyx. Their 2nd album is one of the best LPs to come out of the golden era. Sticky has always been a dope lyricist, one of NYs finest. But at the time that Tical dropped, Bacdafucup was Onyx only tape and I wasn't a big fan of it at all. Ironically, most people think it's their best album but I thought Slam was annoying and all the beats on the album were boring as fuck. Bitchazzniggaz was my shit tho. And Throw Your Gunz. But the rest of the tape was boring to me.
"The difference between a Bitchazznigga, N a PunkMuthafucka- is that when beef come, a Bitchazznigga run; and a PunkMuthafucka try to play hard- AND GET FUCKED UP!!!"
Это шедевр, как же он чётко двигается, а этот неповторимый поток... Никто, и никогда не сможет это повторить !!! Method Man великий, и уникальный художник !!!
Miss this era of music. It’s the combination the music, the video, the personality injected the entire performance (musically and visually)…even the dancing. Really, really good.
Billy Woods, RTJ, Denzel Curry, Freddie Gibbs and Boldy James all released pretty good albums last year that are reminiscent and inspired by a lot of 90's-00's era rap. Theres a ton of trash now adays, but theres plenty of good rap still being made
@@GamesWithBrainz Mickey factz cyhi the Prynce wale stalley big krit rapsody benny the butcher marlon craft etc rap is slowly coming back but still being overshadowed by the trash that's on the radio
Method Man is the genius when it comes to rapping he spits rhymes with no problem and Wu-Tang will be never forgotten Method Man is lyrically illness the most def
Rza, Gza, Mef and Wu tang in general hands down have come up w some of hip hops greatest beats ever. The whole sound of 36 chambers is epic... from the weed smoking shit talking interludes between each song to the ninja samples that album is one of my fav hip hop albums of all time. RZA/Wu's sound is their own.
Sansdeity420x i done quite understand : pick back beats " ,yeah beat selection is a skill, but to show that skill you need beats and when you make million dollar album you have a crew , mixer , audio engenier , beat maker etc
Rusty Shackleford you are very romantic but it makes no difference , it is how i say it is , its not a one man job , its not hey lets make a song for international market . you can make a song for your Hood , when it comes to business , its time to hire professionals , not rely on your , most times wasted crew . that is not how you do the job. I dont know maybe Dre or Rza , Erd or Azr do them things alone , but that is still not how you do it
Rusty Shackleford man you cant point your finger in the studio at something without me being able not just to explain its purpose , or use it , i can even fix it . So dont be blabing about but pay respect you might learn something useful when you turn on SMPS on your D class Amped Linkwitz-Riley filters of your reference monitors next time, if you have any that is . Do... we.... have... a deal
Man I remember when the trains used to look like this. I loved all the graffiti on the 2 train in Brooklyn. I was pissed when they "cleaned" them up smh
His movements are lit 🔥🔥🔥🔥 U-God said in his book that Meth knew all the new Edition dance moves. Probably that’s why he is a flexible and lit as he his 🔥
"...Vodka, no OJ no straw when you give it to me yay give it to me raw. I've' learned that when you drink absolute straight it burns, enough to give my chest hairs a perm" LOL
I was 11 yrs old when this came out in '94 ! Now in July 2021 still as good, old school rap !! Method Man is one of the best, if not The best artist and I´ve always had a big crush on him :D I am now 37 yrs old, mother of one boy and my son has, because of me, a very great taste in music, hiphop, rap, rock, heavy metal, folk music, blues, bluegrass .....Greetings from Iceland to everyone here !
@@tokenblack7983 Awwwww, thank you !!! So sweet of you 💖 Now I am turning 38 yrs on the 24. of july and my son is turning 15 on the 7. of july. He was born 07.07.07 😂 And I was pretty young when I had him 😉 But you are just so sweet and have an awesome day and take very good care of yourself 🙏❤
Pac sampled Meth’s rhymes on one of the hardest songs on All Eyez on Me. Meth was the only feature on BIG’s Ready to Die and more than held his own. That kind of sums up Method Mans impact on the culture and other rappers at the time.
J Cole is dope, no lie. But not too many artists these days coming with the unique, authentic, original STYLE that the Wu and several other folks during the 90s were doing. There’s (surprisingly) still a shitload of dope lyricists out there today, but almost nobody is flaunting any kind of unique swag to the game. You can always correlate a rapper’s influence to someone from the past. Can’t really say that about the Wu.
