@@mrstephenpariah Well done; the original one always needs to be mentioned. Of course, I usually prefer the older version of a track, but, honestly, Twilight Driving seems more touching and emotional than The Letter. It catches me so much...
I have to echo others saying it sounds like Pure Instinct's "Stilyagi". Though not quite sure why, but also reminds me of The Box Top's "The Letter", also.
+Harrison Lee came here to listen and try to work out the name of the song it was reminding me of haha. So many songs these days that sound exactly like old songs.
Yeah I reckon they definitely got it from there and I also have a sneaky suspicion that they grabbed a bit from Stevie Nicks - Room on fire in her chorus. But theyve without a doubt made it their own and doesnt feel like a rip.
You might be a better friend Still I can make it through What's left Into the hallway, I wasn't afraid Of my, my better days And I'm not functioning that way Slow down into some kid in the pray Somebody out in the dark was a knock When the door was unlocked () Twilight driving gotta watch out for the roos (australlian word) Well, it's the early morning baby I Said why don't you hit the snooze? Twilight driving gotta watch out for the roos Well, it's the early morning baby I Said why don't you hit the snooze? Pool and ocean isn't them Feel your pockets full of them, deep friends You know you've gotta be left You gotta use 'em all up It's what you said () Twilight driving gotta watch out for the roos Well, it's the early morning baby I Said why don't you hit the snooze? Does anyone know the background to the video they have used here? It looks like an older couples holiday (maybe even honeymoon) film from the late 60's early 70's, but I'm fascinated by where and when it was filmed and who they were.
This original video captures the emotional ambience of the song so much better than the recent one released on 4AD's channel IMO. Like, having seen this when I first heard the song it just took me to a some kind of place i liked. the new video just kind of... lacks. it really just doesnt capture any of what i hear in the substance of the track. Still a great song though.
WTF. I like the song by The Boxtops but there is just a section that sounds the same. Why the fuck do people need to bring them up every other comment? I'm 30 and love old shit and more interested in the newer stuff.
I think I listened to a little but it wasn't that crazy similar and I love this song sooo much. Maybe the boomers just don't realize that songs get ripped off way worse now or they are just crying about shit for no reason cause that is their life lol.
