I was not taking Metoprolol Tartrate with food thus it was NOT working much for me at 25MG, i was getting frustrated and almost gave up on this medicine. So, I started taking it with Gluten free bread topped with a homemade avocado spread (smashed avocado with a dash of garlic powder and black pepper) , then I felt the great benefits of this medication. Still at 25MG and feeling better than ever. Also, as a side benefit, my bad cholesterol went down 20 points and I attribute that solely to the avocado. I hope this comment helps someone out there.

Can they both help with palpitations and anxiety? What about helping prevent migraines? Which is preferred?

I take Metoprolol Tartrate for SVT as needed (when I have an event) therefore don’t take it with food. It works quickly, but would eating something speed it up or slow it down?

Hi great question. “Food can enhance the levels of metoprolol in your body. You should take metoprolol at the same time each day, preferably with or immediately following meals. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication. Avoid drinking alcohol, which could increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking metoprolol. Metoprolol is only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control. Follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely.”-drug.com

This makes no sense to me. I was prescribed ER-Succinste by my cardiologist today specifically for AFib.
