well Metro is kind of a post soviet half life. Speechless main character, not much shooting, lots of dialogues(Anna is alike Alix), lots of mechanisms to make working etc)
@@trashaimgamer7822 id argue that metro deals with a different type of horror. There is something about being in a bleak underground wasteleand where every scrap is being fought to the death over that is much more horrifying than a zombie chasing you or some ghosts
I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH. I get high af. And play In a dark room with a headset with all audio going to headset. And I’m terrified while traversing through metro exodus world
@@Fabi_87 yeah it pisses me off quality like the Metro series doesn't get more recognition. On the other hand shit repetitive games like Anthem and The Division do get a passed.
Carlos Santana Huh? 😂😂😂 Apex Legends is cool to play for like 2, maybe 3 matches, but it gets boring fast. I’d rather play Metro, which has a good story, better mechanics (in respect to the game), a nice, detailed world, and good characters. Fuck is Jim talking about?
Didn't get RDR2 when it launched and now I had to deside if I wanted it or Metro. I chose metro for the sole reason of the gameplay being much better. Not regretting anything, loving the game but I'm still wondering would I had liked it even more.
The average score for Exodus is 8.32 so far The average for Last Light is 8.29 The average for 2033 is 7.98 I looked at the reviews for each game on Eurogamer, Metacritic, Gamespot, IGN, Gamesradar, Gamingbolt and Gameinformer
@@blank003 users are review bombing it though. That is why i never take user reviews seriously anymore. Even steam reviews. As someone else said in this chat... the best reviewer is yourself. Always look at various reviews and look at the things you find important. Then decide for yourself. If you just decide based on one review, it is not really your own judgement in most cases.
I rented it on redbox and after a few hours in i am honestly regretting the fact that i didn't buy it. Game is gorgeous and atmospheric, easily one of the best looking shooters in a while. My only one gripe is with the human ai from time to time. It seems to need just a little tweaking cause i did notice that at times they would look at me and just not shoot. But that wasn't all the time and the monsters do their job well.
no it isn't. i'm a big metro fan and exodus is a great game but it also has a lot of flaws. first of all the controls on console are terrible (and i mean literally the worst i've had on ps4) and theres a tons of bugs. for example in caspian desert i can see the skybox. the sky is completely fucked in my game. also theres tons of clipping issues. these can be fixed with a patch but i also think the game has a pacing issue. you only have two really long levels (volga and caspian desert) while the other three are essentially the short intro in moscow, the ark part and then the taiga which is still open but much more linear. i like this game a lot but its not better than last light imho. 8/10 is a good review. i would rate it like that too. anyone who says it should be a 9/10 or even a 10 is a fanboy who doesnt see the games flaws
@@Savage_Alegator Really? they just sit behind cover and shoot and even if they see you they take a while to shoot so you can just get an easy headshot. Mediocre AI at best imo.
I like this new review format. When you have knowledgeable reviewers who calmly and rationally discuss the game and things surrounding the game, it opens up a more civil dialog whether you agree with the score, or not. It's something sorely needed with video game reviews (on RU-vid), and helps with Gamespot's overall credibility as well, IMO.
Tiranozavr Rex Well, after the ending of last night everyone thought that was the end but couple years later they announced exodus. I think they will do one last game based on Artyom trying to put an end to the war that going on in Moscow.
This game is one of the best i've played! Im gamer who likes good story and can customize weapons.Metro has it all and amazing graphics. My rating is pure 10
I’m actually sad this game doesn’t have more recognition. Been playing through it and i have not a single complaint. It’s an amazing story game, compared to a lot of other disappointments lately.
First it's cheaper for Americans. Not the rest of the world. As a Australian it's $13 USD more expensive for us on Epic Store. Some whole regions are locked from getting the game on Epic Store with China being one of those. Second it was advertised on Steam AND available on Steam for preorders for months. Steam keys for physical versions of the game were bait and switched without customer consent. False advertising. Epic Store is also the worst game launcher on PC to date. Last point, How is this game getting lower ratings then Call of Duty games? It's a 9/10 no doubt. After a couple patches that fix bugs and PC performance issues.
Jzargo is Awesome Your using the worst possible example. People love Lara Croft, Amanda Ripley, Samus, Fighting game characters like Chun Li, Ellie, Clementine, Jade, Zelda, the girl from No one lives forever, ect. People hated BF5 because it pushed agendas, insulted their audience and put woman front and center on what they called a realistic ww2 game. You are clearly just to young to have played games with awesome female characters or your just a sexist. But no one hates female leads, people hate agendas. Huge difference
I was a huge fan of the first two games and a huge fan of the first two areas of this game, but once the story progressed it all just kind of fell short. I was under the impression the entire game would be like the bridge and caspian level, being able to roam around and tackle objectives, but after caspian i barely even checked my map. It just felt like 2033 and last light. Also (spoilers) the ending i got was good but felt like a cop out. I got anna her medicine and then in the span of one cutscene, I almost died, was cured, cured anna, became commander and then went to live on the coast. There wasnt even one final fight to wrap things up. Idk, just felt like it stumbled after the first half. I spent $100 on it and beat it in 4 days. I bought the first two for a total of under $20 and each took me a few weeks.
I am certainly no expert in the video game industry and I guess I do not understand a ‘triple A’ game from any other but I can tell you that this game is ‘AAAA’ . I believe it is GOTY.
I'm new to this series. I like it but if Artyom could speak it would be 10 times better. A main protagonist with a voice and personality is very important in my opinion. Still, great game.
Disagree. Always preferred a silent protagonist. Makes me feel like the character. A voice lots of the time takes me out of it personally. There’s exceptions of course. Just play Dead Space.
Fenrir I agree, horror/survival games are all about immersion and nothing immersed the player more than a silent protagonist, as it allows you to project your own personality onto them, and your reaction is their reaction.
For those of us who are mad with the move to Epic from Steam its not that we want to stir the pot its the fact that it was not a wise move on DeepSilver's part. If they had been promoting the game on Epic the entire time of its development I guarantee most of these "pot stirrers" would not be mad at all. We are mad because it was promoted solely on Steam and then they take it away 2 weeks before launch. The last-minute move and exclusivity deal has tarnished a lot of favor the community had towards this series and its all thanks to DeepSilver
I love this series. Story and atmosphere are excellent. Gameplay is super immersive and the combat and mechanics are tense, exhilarating, and add to the immersion. It’s a harder game than I would normally choose to play but so good. Presentation is excellent too.
Loving this format of review. Useful, clear and placing questions of the customer as the priority/focus. Even happier I came across this with IGN dropping the ball so often these days.
This review style is awesome. It's not 2 minutes long or filled with sponsored bullcrap ;) I enjoy a long discussion, and I also enjoy that the reviewer responded to questions from the people anticipating this game. Thank you for the new format! Keep it up!
the problem with stalker is always their ambitions is way higher than their budget would allowed. but i still put both stalker and metro series in high regards.
Very excellent review format! As someone who does not put any emphasis on a numbered score the conversational structure is way more organic and engaging than the typical essay style employed by many other sites. Your review is so much more engaging and I get a much better sense of what you really liked/disliked, not only through what’s been said but also the tone in which it is inflected. It also really helps that you review the games you play. I’ve noticed of late that other sites will have someone who hasn’t played the game read someone else’s review, which is baffling to me and often sounds benign and unenthusiastic. Finally having the review score at the beginning makes so much sense. I would consider not having a score at all but then your comment section would be pretty bare because people would actually have to discuss the review and not just the score. Great work 👍
Just completed the game. Put 34hrs in. New metro player to the series. All I will say is I am going to start another play through. It's that good. At least a 9/10 in my opinion. The game is totally different from anything else I have played.
i think its in development when is gonna be launched estimated in 2021 or later, but whats encouraging is that most of the original team its working on the game
Awesome new way to do reviews. Loved the score at the beginning and the focused but unscripted discussion that even incorporated questions from the community.
Great review! I've been interested in the Metro series for years as post apocalyptic is my favorite genre, but had never played them. I was able to get the whole trilogy for about $25 and I love it! I've already got a platinum on the first two and am playing Exodus now. I can't believe how different and yet familiar it is. It's fantastic so far.
When I bought this bundle off of steam - the original first 2 games - I was blown away by their originality. I bought Prey as well, but was very disappointed when I realized that my controller wouldn't work with the game and I refuse to play with a keyboard and mouse. The Metro series games shows that FPS games still have plenty of life in them and and plenty of room to offer a different story and vision.
Just finished it. It's great, it's fun, but it's also flawed. > Stealth often feels unauthentic and implausible, which is very out of place in such an immersive game. >The AI makes it even worse. In some cases they were acting so unbelievably dumb that it actually was hilarious. But seriously, the AI kinda ruined some encounters for me. >Voice acting (ot) is terrible imo. Dialogue is poorly written, mostly. >Too many fights against humans in my opinion. But I guess, that's just my preference (I wish we had more levels like the last one, now that was a blast). >Every new character throughout the campaign kinda feels like a filler and even a bit out of place. Like the developers had something else in mind originally that didn't work out, and what we have now is just the leftovers that have been glued together. At least that's how it feels to me. >Controls on ps4pro are a bit gummy/clunky >Crafting could've had waaaay more potential >Frustrating movement bugs. Artyom likes to get stuck at liitle, tiny rocks and shit like that. So yeah, that's it for me. I like it and I'll be playing it again, but tbh I really expected a little bit more.
I've played the first hour and not a fam so far. I'll give it more of a chance, its just so far, one of the clunkiest shooters I've played. I feel like my character model is a giant robot, he keeps getting caught on stuff and can't move into spaces most normal people could. Also, its hard to know when your life is low. There's always so much crap in your gas mask, you can't tell if you're injured or not. So dying comes quite suddenly and surprisingly.
I like that they post the score that they gave the game at the beginning of the video and then continued to explain as to why they gave that score etc... very nice gamespot 👍
Anyone else get that glitch where one of your team member's gun is constantly firing during Volga where you're raiding that boat? Right before you go to unlock the bridge. It was hilarious haha
Really nice review, I enjoy this format a lot. Would appreciate more of it :) (Good background music as well, it created something of a "lounge" atmosphere, which suited your discussion)
The problem with them taking exodus from steam is: steam is older ergo more trusted and is more reliable than epic games, furthermore, people already have cluttered desktops, steam, uplay, origin, Gog, epic games, how many launchers do we need?! Let's not pretend they are moving it to epic games for any good reason, simply for more money, which is fine, except it works on faulty logic. Sure, they might get a larger slice of the pie on epic games, but the pie itself is gonna be smaller. They've kind of shot themselves in the foot. It's also getting boring how so many companies are: "crying poor". CDPR don't do any of that lootbox shit, no deluxe super package editions and still are worth 2 billion dollars, and that's with releasing a shit load of free updates. It's basic, make good games, you'll make lots of money, you don't need to try and pinch pennies.
I really liked this review style! It was detailed without being riddled with spoilers. I also think you managed to address most of what people who are considering playing Metro: Exodus would be concerned about. Well done!
I experianced the equipment missing on one weapon. I acquired a reflex sight for the revolver. I went to place it in later on and it wasn't there. Had to find it again. I noticed some attachments once used on a weapon, you cant add them to other like weapons. I loved every minute of Exodus. Loved the 1st and 2nd one as well.
Just completed it and I loved it but at the same time I was disappointed. To me it wasn't as intense as the other 2 were and the companion was a little short for a metro game but I loved it still like the others
I really like the overall method in this review. A little bit too long though for 1 video review (maybe split it up into sections like overall review (~4-6 min) and in-depth review (~10-15 min)?). IMO it was also harder than normal to follow all the verbal points made because of the looser dialogue form
I ran into a bug where my flashlight would not work at all through half of whole level. Don't charge and won't turn on. But honestly, this accidentally gave me a better experience lol. I had to beat one of the hardest level with my lighter, it was actually awesome.
I like the new review format for the box which tells you how many hours you've played. However I do wonder how it works as for 20hrs of gameplay did you rush through the single player on one platform and then try out the other platforms?
I think maybe a month ago I was in the desert place where you were going into the cave under the lighthouse and then when I got in the zipline I teleported to a mutant corpse where you got the car and I was so confused
I just beat the game, knocking people out instead of killing them, saving everyone I could, completed every side quest and only shot mutants and slavers and I STILL GOT THE BAD ENDING! I was so fucking invested in the story and characters, being pacifist since I figured there was a good and bad ending and after being so invested in the story and Anna I get the ending where Artyom dies!? WTF 4A!?!
9.2 in my opinion. I love the metro series but I am fair. The game was phenomenaly done, AI got a lot smarter, even though the world is open it still felt creepy and ominous, inventory system was much improved. Physics are insane, level design is very diverse and all the extra stuff just adds more life to the location, reminds you that it is a place were people actually use to live and still do in some form. NPCs were interesting. These were some of the good parts, the only minor flaws were for me personally... well. I wanted a bit more Metro, as in going into metros, I miss those old cooped up tunnels with all its cave ins and narrow paths. Plus there were a couple of bugs where the objective wouldn't load correctly and you could get confused, movement sometimes felt clunky and and in the Caspian sea level there was a strange flashlight bug where it wouldn't work because of the car and its headlights. Still, those small issues are quick to forget compared to the near masterpiece that we had been given. Note! Not everyone is going to enjoy and or like Metro games... opinions are usually highly subjective.
By far the most balanced review of this game out there right now. The dude clearly loved the previous Metro games and understands what the Metro franchise really is about, and by extension what fans will be looking for in the current game. Loved this review. Loved the dude's enthusiasm and how he properly explained what he didn't like in the game and why he didn't like them. I can tell that after I play the game I'll probably come out with the same opinion of the game that he has. Imo 8/10 is a perfect score. He understands what Metro is. Metro games are never perfect, and have always been rough around the edges, but that's why this franchise is so dear to me.
Really good review, I might give this a go. Made the mistake of looking at Metacritic and saw it was a sea of 0's and 10's - why do people do that it totally invalidates it as a platform...
Best review from you guys in a while. I liked the stats at the start and honest discussion rather than a script. I think want to play the first two games before this because I think the story would be more rewarding
"not big of a deal" my ass, go to the Metro subreddit, it's filled to the brim with complaints about the Epic Store charging people multiple times, among other issues
The reason people are upset with the epic store is because it’s extremely bare bones and lacks most of the features and quality of life functionalities of steam. No user reviews, forums, etc.
Loved this format. One thing, though, I just hope the video essay isn't completely done away with. It still has its place, I think. Whether that's done for only a subsection of reviews or other video types entirely, I'm just not ready to bid it adieu completely.
