I really love the sense of desperate determination this song conveys. You're outnumbered. Your back is to the wall. Victory looks impossible. But goddamnit, you're going to make those bastards pay for every step and give them a fight they'll never forget.
"We must stop Korbut, prevent him from taking D6. If we fail, all we've been through after the War, all the hardships we braved surviving all these years, all the sacrifices... Everything would have been in vain. Could it be that the spring that has finally melted the decades-old ice on the surface, promising us a new hope of leaving the darkness of the underground and reaching out to the sun again, is also in vain? Could it happen that there won't be anyone left to welcome the spring? I can't believe this. Hope still lives while the Order holds D6, while even a single one of us still draws breath. We will stop Korbut - at any cost. For our friends and families. For the whole of the Metro. For the spring we've all been waiting for. For the future." -Artyom (journal)
"Windmill! Blizzard here! Situation critical! There's too many of them! We've got to fall back! I repeat! Windmill, we are falling back!... Fucking shit! What the hell was that! Back! Fall back!"
"You are the most dedicated, most courages soldiers in the Metro, Each of you is worth five Reds. If you simply do the job you were trained to do, we'll win this battle. Sparta! To battle!"
you are the bravest, most courageous men in the Metro! Each of you is worth five Reds! If you simply do the job you were trained to do, we will win this battle! Sparta! To battle!
Easily one of the best battles I've experienced in a videogame. Everything comes together and you just unload on all the enemies for your last stand, people dragging you back to the line.
That battle was short but super epic and complete. The three stages were nice as well, like blowing up the tank and then killing that pyro by shooting his guards inbetween the slot in their shields.
They could make a whole different spinoff with multiplayer...imagine this: Play as Nazi, Communist, or Hanza(capitalist?) in different game types like Train chases, team deathmatch, capture stations or co-op against a fast invading force of mutants? More weapons, diverse improvised weapons/grenades....am I the only one thinking about this right now?
The movement for those games would have to definitely be overhauled at I remember them being slightly clunky but yeah I could possibly enjoy that idea.
@@specialoperatorlolbit8671 don't know if anyone here knows this but 4A games actually planned for multiplayer, but it was scrapped in the prototype phase
***** And it also lacks the too cliché and forced "deus ex machina" air of the true canon ending. I feel it (the "bad" one) more realistic and meaningful.
Zachg57 Personally I found hard to believe that a few dozens of Dark Ones, even with all their powers, could defeat hundreds or even thousands of heavily armed soldiers (If I'm not mistaken, the Red Army had more than 10000 soldiers deployed during that battle) without some high casualties as they do in the canon ending. But what really matters, as you say, is the spiritual meaning of that ending. Artyom is redeemed and makes peace with the Dark Ones after his unfortunate decisions in the first Metro game.
I don't think it was just a handful of Dark Ones. I mean it's implied that D6 is where they were created. Also the Dark Ones psychic abilities are pretty damn strong.
I didn’t think it would come to this, but it has come, we still won’t hold d6, this is already clear and that’s why Artem, in the event of defeat to the eyes of d6, detonators are installed throughout the complex, when time tells!
4:32 : me after I accidently selected the "Heavy Soldier" level instead of loading the last chapter where I stopped in my first run: "Wait this is weird. What´s wrong with his voi- OH SHIT IT´S DEFINETLY SPOILER" *skips and sits all of the sudden in a cart* "SHIT SHIT SHIT" *presses escape goes back to the main menu and realizes that he selected the DLC missions by accident* And later as I play this mission on purpose and listen to this guy completely, I realize that my panic was justified.
A great series. I bought Metro 2033 a few yrs back not even knowing how cool it would be. I bought it because I was bored and wanted something else to do. These games are definatly worth playing.
when they blew up the door it gave me chils when I heard their war cry everything we so perfectly epic ( luckely I already knew how to defeat the tank )
Beautiful game.. sadly its story is true to some extent. that if humanity was almost wiped out by a war , the remainder would still not learn the lesson and keep fighting each other!
This is the moment when Deep Silver let you play as role Shock Trooper Reich to protect your Outpost and your fellow soldier from the many wave Red army and elite forces. What a good time
1:12 - 2:00 is kinda fire, it's like "We are waiting, just seconds away before the overwhelming force begins it's march. There isn't much we can do, but we will still hold our ground, with an iron grip and an iron heart we will stand before death".
when hearing the end of the fight,i could only think of how the fight would have ended if somehow the mutants would have come to the fight near the end too, without changin how artyom blow up the whole station at the end,but would bring more chaos during the fight, like a few mutants rushing in the middle of the fight, attacking both the order and the nazis
Got the Limited Edition with the AKS-74U and proceeded to play for about 10 hours straight,my xbox decided to screw with me and crash right after i got the 2 achievments for beating Ranger mode.Great game (and song) nontheless, was a fun playthrough.
Personally, I think that making a multiplayer game would damage the Metro series. I can see where you`re coming from, and itd probably be a good game, but somehow I feel like it would dull down the strong story of the game. I wouldnt say more weapons would be needed. (Plus yes, Hanza is capitalist)
