Check Out More Theories: • MY BEST THEORIES Megamind… Probably the most consistently funny and epic standalone Dreamworks movie that exists. Metro Man and Titan are the best, it has great scenes, hilarious presentation, fun songs, subversive storytelling... And even though it took a year and a half of frame by frame analyzing it, I’ve FINALLY found a small thread that, if metaphorically pulled, opens up the film, and flips the morals on their head. So, as crazy as all of this may sound, here’s my Megamind theory!

when they actually just flat out say its part of the prison in the Danish dub

This would also explain the absurd amount of times Megamind escapes the maximum security prison. They let him escape to keep Metro Man distracted.

Metroman doesn't degrade himself when he becomes a singer. He is finally doing what he always wanted deep down. The reason he became a hero was because he felt obligated to use his powers to defeat villains and he liked the attention. But a big part of Metroman his charakter in the movie was that he never aspired to be a hero it just sort of happened

This isn't a theory. This is a fact. You've convinced me. Of course, now I'm sad because I adore Megamind and the fact that they turned him into a villain just to stop a superpowered being from becoming a villain instead really pisses me off and makes me want to protect him. And I also feel sorry for Metroman.

You know... i actually thought about this in that light too. They were unusually cruel to him, making him see no other way to get attention, other then being evil.

This actually makes a lot of sense my only question about the film was why is it just because he crash lands in a prison why not make the guards get him out and bring him to an adoption agency instead of living there for YEARS and you explained why that is to balance it to make sure that there will always be a villian against a hero. Very well made theory.

Let me give you MY theory. Between the two, Metroman and Megamind, the one who is inherently far more valuable is Megamind. Metroman is just a brute force guy. He has powers to do physical things. Faster than a speeding bullet, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, etcetera. But the fact at the end of the day is that's all he's got. He's a physical powerhouse. But megamind... he can do ANYTHING, with his mastery of science. The sky's the limit. He can create an invention that has so much more potential than anything Metroman could ever hope to do. For crying out loud it's established he can easily INDUCE superpowers in a non-empowered individual so that already gives Megamind more value than Metroman himself. He could have beaten Metroman at ANY TIME just by doing that to himself or an ARMY, maybe an army of cloned soldiers! He just didn't. He wanted to beat him in some arbitrary way, because he was sabotaging himself because of the tragic role he had found himself in. And so Megamind is inherently infinitely more valuable than Metroman. And Metroman knew this, and it tore him up inside, to know that his own net contribution to the world was actually of NEGATIVE value, because without the rivalry he had with Megamind, without his own existence displacing Megamind's true place of greatness, and casting Megamind into the role of villain, the world would be a better place than it is with Metroman as a hero and Megamind not even in the picture. And THAT'S the reason he faked his death and quit the game. He was trying to make Megamind into the positive force he should have been the whole time, since he knew Megamind would be better at it than himself as he had so much more potential.

My theory on why Metro Man broke down is this condition called golden child syndrome. Its when a child grows up overly praised and then worries constantly that they might slip up and when they do, it is the ultimate defeat but at the same time relieving because now they can live less worried.
