■ MAGALLANES STATION: It is a station on the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3. It is one of the many elevated stations found on the line. The station is named after the adjacent Magallanes district of Makati, which in turn is named after Ferdinand Magellan, who discovered the Philippines for Spain on April 15, 1521. Although the station is named after Magallanes, it also serves passengers from Kayamanan-C and barangays Dasmariñas, Pio del Pilar, and San Lorenzo in Makati, and those from Taguig. The station is the twelfth station for trains headed to Taft Avenue and the second station for trains headed to North Avenue. It is the last station in Makati before it crosses over to Pasay.
The station is the closest MRT station to the South Luzon Expressway, as well as to Chino Roces Avenue. It is also located near Dasmariñas Village and Ecology Village, two major residential areas in the Makati area. It is also close to some prominent business headquarters and institutions, such as those of the Philippine operations of Levi's and GlaxoSmithKline, schools such as Asia Pacific College, Assumption College, Don Bosco Technical Institute, Makati Hope Christian School, and Colegio San Agustin-Makati and shopping centers such as Makati Cinema Square (near Don Bosco) and the upscale Magallanes Center. The station is directly connected to Alphaland Southgate Mall and Tower, Teleperformance Building within the building, and San Lorenzo Place Mall.
The transport terminal outside the station serves tricycles, taxis, jeepneys, and buses. Buses that ply the EDSA and South Luzon Expressway routes (both city and provincial) stop near the station. Passengers may board jeepneys under the Magallanes Interchange, wherein these go to various locations in Metro Manila, such as northern and western Makati, Makati Central Business District, Taguig, Pasay, Parañaque, and Muntinlupa. Taxis are also available near the station, and taxi stands are located along with the bus stops near the station on both northbound and southbound lanes of EDSA. Passengers may also take a short walk to EDSA railway station, located below the Magallanes Interchange and west of Chino Roces Avenue, to take the PNR Metro Commuter Line.
■ NORTH AVENUE STATION: It is a station on the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3. North Avenue is one of the 11 elevated stations that can be found on the line. The station is located in
Diliman in Quezon City and is named after its location, which is at the corner of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and North Avenue.
The station is the northern terminus of the line and is the first and last station for trains headed to and from Taft Avenue respectively. The North Avenue Depot, an underground depot where the trains of the line are kept and maintained, is located near the station. The elevated tracks terminate abruptly beyond the station, but there is sufficient room for a terminating train to leave the station and stop before switching to the other track then entering the station again to begin the journey south. The station will be replaced by the North Triangle Common Station once completed.
The station is directly connected to one of the Philippines' premier shopping malls, TriNoma
which opened in 2007. It is also close to SM City North EDSA, one of the Philippine's largest malls. Other nearby landmarks include Quezon Memorial Circle and Triangle Park where
Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Vertis North, Ayala Malls Vertis North, Department of Agriculture, Philippine Science High School Main Campus, Quezon City Science High School, and Ninoy Aquino Parks & Wildlife Center can be found. Philippine Medical Association
secretariat, Phil-Am, and Sogo Hotel North Edsa are also within reach from the station.
North Avenue station is a major hub for buses plying the EDSA route. A bus terminal is also located near the station, particularly at TriNoma and SM City North EDSA, while a bus stop of EDSA Busway is located at the center island of EDSA beside the station. Taxis, jeepneys, and UV Express vans also stop in and around the bus terminals.
