A subway is currently under construction connecting BGC to the rest of the metro. It will also have a line that will connect it to the airport (NAIA). Bright prospects ahead.
"Under construction" in the Philippines is not a standard English term. It's Filipino English, meaning 5-10 years to completion. The Tagalog expression for that is "mamaya na po" (years) or "drawing lang" (decades).
Thank you. Very very helpful indeed since I'm visiting the Philippines mid-year 2024. So convenient and no hassle at all. Everyone queues and not pushing each other. Great day for you too, n o doubt. Cheers from Spain!
If its rush hour, its different better pray to get in the train quickly hshshhshs. I also think there will be another train track that will be opened in 2024 or in december not sure but its also in Manila
Meron Ka Ng Idea....hehehe!!!! Pag Uwi Mo Parang Promdi Ang Feeling Mo Like Me Sigurd Pag Uwi Namin..........Noon Kasi Token Pa.....Kada Sakay Bili Ng Token wayback 1989.....
You just asked… it phonetically is pronounced “Kay-zon “… 🤗 Great video-I didn’t even realize they had an MRT there already. (haven’t visited since 2008)… 🤗
Yes, in a few years (hopefully before 2030), BGC will be connected to NAIA via subway. Clark Airport will also be connected by a separate project (North-South Commuter Railway).
the bgc station you mentioned is part of the metro manila subway that is ongoing construction. this subway will also have connection to the airport via terminal 3. i hope they also build a line connecting bgc-makati-manila because this area is where the foreign tourists usually go
but the rate of improvement and upgrade has been so slow. it was at times frustrating to ride specifically rush hours. The line going to station stretch about 1km😅. Also sometimes the train suddenly stop at the middle of the rack. And the passengers need to disembark. Hopefully, the two subway lines, new MRT line, LRT extensions, and the North-South Commuter Rail, all of these under construction right now will improve the mass transportation in Metro Manila.
If you like to watch a local version of NBA you can alight at the Araneta Center Cubao Station. Our version of the NBA is PBA. There are also UAAP and NCAA which are collegiate basketball tournaments. Almost always held at the Araneta Center Basketball Stadium
It is said that Taipei’s MRT overall rating is now the best in the world. What do you think about it? It is a fun MRT ride, thank you for taking us on the MRT in Manila! 👍🥰🙌
So far there are 4 railway systems in and around Metro Manila. These are the MRT along Edsa, LRT 1 in the City of Manila, LRT line 2 that will bring you to the east side of the metropolis and the PNR connecting Manila to nearby provinces. Currently there are two subways underconstruction and it will create big change in the near future.
Tagalog "near future", meaning "next decades". When those are finished, new problems would have already arised. As MRT-7 was originally planned in the 70's and we are still waiting and suffering the unending road works and destruction of pedestrian areas which will never be reclaimed.
I'm curious, are you planning to visit countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc. while you're in Asia? It seems to me that you're going to all the countries that remind you of home, with their skyscrapers, malls and fast food chains. It would be good to see you step out of your comfort zone a bit more.
The construction around the BGC just confirms that the BGC that the world is talking about is NOT a bubble rather the reality of the creation of a new city and will be in the next five decades. However, there are new cities being created and built. Even where the SM MOA is found, the whole area is a reclamation area of nearly 1,000 hectares, now fully developed. That is the reality of the Philippines. No turning back. Check out Vertis North, too.
Screams third world lol To say it’s outdated is an understatement. Pretty rundown compared to Bangkok, KL, and Singapores metro. The government should get a foreign investor to upgrade and make it more world class. C’mon Manila you can do better than that!
You alighted at the Araneta Center Cubao Station. I think you can give it a shot for another vlog. MRT will take you to atleast several business districts like Vertis North, Araneta City, Ortigas Business District, BGC via Guadalupe Station, and Makati business district. MRT is connected to the LRT line 1 and LRT line 2 (through a skyway bridge in Araneta Center Cubao Station)
Hi sir new subscriber here! I don’t know why but you remind me of when Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) was younger. You could pass as his brother. 😊 Sir Quezon city is pronounced “Kay- zone” and Araneta as “Ara - net - ta” (net like fishing net). Fyi there is also a Landmark super located at the back entrance of Central Square Mall where you ate at Shake Shack. Hope you are having a blast here in our country! Its a pity your alone but you seem to be fine with it! 😊
Thank You Very Much Now That Im Updated......... I Have An Idea How To Ride MRTLRT LOL!!! Its been A Long Time haven't Visit Philippines........Im A Filipino Now A German Citizen...........Bunch of Love From Homburg Saarland Germany...... Take Care Men...Maraming Salamat Po!!! Dankeschön!!!
LRT are old stations and may be older trains but bigger in size, though MRT might be cooler in temp. You should take the BGC bus next time, it's in One Ayala bus bay, where you got off from MRT. There is an ongoing subway construction with routes connecting to BGC, Makati, airport.
i think maganda naman rail system. kulang palang talaga. maybe after the full operations of mrt7, NSCR and subway mag improve na talaga to with 12M people living in MM kaya nila yan ma maintain
actually Manila's MRT is cheaper and I think comfortable compared to other MRTs around the region well, HK is good also. Surprisingly the Philippines version is competitive too. Other MRTs going further North reaching Bulacan and Cavite will soon be operational. It's something that we can be proud as Filipinos aside from the fact that it's affordable and clean and safe Actually I stopped using my car because of its convenience and saves on gas too.
I rode it back in Aug I was kinda in the start of rush hour I was a little confused about the whole boarding and ticketing but once on the train it wasn't bad at all.
Hello. The taxis that queue in the malls use meter. It is prohibited not to use the meter. Just hop in and tell the destination. Thanks for trying MRT and taxi. LRT is also nice with extensive areas covered in capital region.
I'm a Filipino, now living in America. I get so NERVOUS when I see foreigners take public transportation in Metro Manila. There are pickpockets, scammers and opportunists everywhere because it's a third world country.
That MRT line runs over Epifanio De los Santos Avenue (EDSA), while the LRT runs over Taft Ave. Btw, the Philippines' first subway line is being constructed. FINALLY.
Hi Zane, Philippines have also 2 under construction subways (including BGC Station 😊) in Metro Manila after 5 years. Extensions and Brand new MRTs, LRTs, PNR and North South Railway plus monorail from Makati to Uptown or (BGC Station also). All done after 5-6 years 😊 take care always Zane.
I dont think it will be fully operational 5-6yrs from now. Well at least those extensions somehow might be operarional (LRT1). Though I just hope it will be indeed operational by 2030. But the subway, MRT7, NSCR, elevated PNR probably will take 10yrs more to finish.
@@lukasloh2509maybe youre right and it depends how fast the construction done, but according to JICA and DOT, 2025 is the partial and 2027 full operational.
That is the way to familiarize .. do not hesitate to ask the locals of things u want to know or how and where the places you go to... locals will zurely glad to assist or help you knowing you are a tourist...
You can avail a beep card and you can save some few pesos atleast if you wish to patronize all the trains. Beep cards are reloadable and can be use also in some buses and modern jeepneys. I heard you can also use it as alternative to a debit card if you wish to purchase something (not sure tho). I had a beep card and i can use it still. its the same card i had ever since i was in college.
The Philippines seems to be more developed than S.Korea. Manila subway and skyscrapers are better than Seoul! 🤙 Manila is the best city in Asia and a wonderful city. There are 1,000 buildings over 30 stories in Seoul, but there are more than 2,000 in Manila. The streets are dirty and the streets of Korea are overflowing with beggars. More than 50% of the people are beggars. Manila is a clean, beautiful city with high-rise buildings, large shopping malls, and overflowing with rich people. In Manila, restaurants and convenience stores are all guarded by security guards armed with live ammunition. S Korea is so poor that they cannot hire security guards. So Manila is wealthier and safer than Seoul. The Philippines is rich and Korea is poor. Korea should ask the Philippines for help. The only thing they boast about is kpop and k drama. They are poor and cannot even buy fruit because the cost of living is high. If the Philippines had not helped them in the Korean War, they would have become a communist country. Korea should be forever grateful to the Philippines.
Seoul has still ahead to Manila in terms of public transportation system like trains but, when it comes to number of tall Skyscrapers MANILA top notch Seoul. MANILA rank 10th in the world in number of Skyscrapers while Seoul only rank 13th
U got to be kidding!. Seoul is so much cleaner and have better technology in every level. Have u even been to Seoul, I wonder?? I visited korea back in 2021. Such a safe and clean city. Plus, I didn't see a single homeless there. I have no idea why u think it's full of homeless. South Korea is pretty rich as well. Average price of little tiny apartment in Seoul is a way above $300,000. in USD. Since when how many tall buildings in the city become criteria to judge the country? Lol what r u? A five yrs old?? I live in Washington DC in the states. We don't have one single tall building in Washington D.C. ( National Monument is probably the tallest thing here) but Nobody can deny this is one of the richest cities in the world!. Lol One thing for sure. I am going to visit South Korea, again. But u r not. 메롱!.
I've been watching a lot of your vlogs since I found out about you. I plan to visit the Philippines and stay in Makati for a month. How do you get around without being a target for pickpockets and bad vibes. Some of my family and friends are warning me not to walk around alone in Manila. How did you do it without being a victim of some sort of trouble?
when riding the MRT or any public transportation, make sure you secure your belongings and don't put anything valuable in uour pocket especially during rush hour or peak hours. make sure your valuables are in front of you or close to your body, especially if it's tight. MRT rides can get REALLY, REALLY tight and difficult. there's even a running joke among commuters when riding the MRT and it's "you come in fresh, you'll come out a warrior!" 🤣 🤣 🤣
Try coming back in metro manila in the Philippines around the year 2029 when other rail systems got completed such as METRO MANILA SUBWAY(underground mrt in metro manila equipped with full height platform screen doors), NORTH-SOUTH COMMUTER RAIL(connects between Laguna, Philippines to New Clark City, Philippines equipped with half-height platform screen doors), and MRT-7
Great video. I'm a Filipino living in Dallas and I could certainly say that Metro Manila's LRT + MRT lines are way advanced and commuter friendlier than here in Dallas. Also, the Metro line here only serves just a part of the whole DFW area unlike the LRT/MRT systems there. Super thanks for highlighting and trying out my country's metro rails. I enjoyed your blog so much! Cheers!
Trivia: Hollywood actor Martin Sheen who was part of the cast of Apocalypse Now (filmed entirely in the Philippines in the 70s where Brando bought a house for the duration of the filming) with Marlon Brando and other big stars, Makati was his favourite city especially when he had to be rushed to Makati Medical Centre.
Our train network is expanding will connect intl airports and other states to another airports… our first subway our first interstate network sith the first for the phillipppines express service. Hopefully you will see this projects up and running in the near future. You can have a new prospective travelling by train and plain or by ship through different beautiful places in the Philippines
I've always wondered why the LRT/MRT doesnt go in and out of BGC/Taguig City. Maybe the new Subway will be linking BGC to the rest of metro manila. Everything is going underground in your area, including the telephone poles, thanks for sharing your MRT experience!
I did the same, took the MRT from Ortigas to Taft and LRT 1 from Baclaran to Quirino, and the same route back to Ortigas. I believe the total fare was 80 PHP ($0.80). in comparison, the minimum BART fare is $2.10 and CTA is $2.50. The trains are super cold inside and I got sick after walking outdoors in the hot and humid weather for a few hours and then riding the train. I still can't shake off my cold after a little over two weeks.
nice your vlog but moving forward, you should never take taxi, try to challenge that you drop by Ayala station then walk to Jeep station for BGC or Busway Station near Ayala station. you try to learn without TAXI! OKAY?
