What I loved about the enemies in this game were were the grab animations and how sudden they were. They're all so unique and really express these creatures, really give you a feeling of actually being on an extraterrestrial planet... And the moment you're not paying attention, something grabs you out of nowhere and has the advantage just like that. That was the feeling I was always missing in Metroid games, even being the superior being the creatures had no unique grab attacks in the others to actually immerse me in the dangers of these creatures. Metroid Prime being my favorite because it was the most immersive for me, and Other M and Dread closely tying due to their amounts of detail, Other M always stands out to me because of the combat grabs, takedowns and melee. But Dread is definitely one of my favorite 2D Metroid games because of all the cutscene transitions, and details that smoothly transition from gameplay and into.
Daaaaaaaamn at 0:52 I never realised they kept ravaging Samus in her suit while she was finished off >:) Pity she doesn't strip to her suit in that pose though, that would've been perfection :))))
Hey, have you seen the "Shake Off Gandrayda" attack animations in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption? Feel like you'd probably really enjoy them. Gandrayda practically finishes on Samus in one of them, and it's kind of amazing. 🤣
@@RukuTakahashi Yeah hahahaha I know that very well ;) But god, just the fact that Samus is being suspended in air, totally helpless, while being thrust and drained until her spirit erodes, surrounded by a swarm of monsters who are more than ready to do the same to her in their hive. It's such a hot situation that I never appreciated fully. And then there are similar creatures waiting for her later in the game, ready to do EXACTLY the same to her as needed.
@@dMGraymusic Yep! You described it so well. Love that Samus is so helpless and weak. And knowing that she is bound despite being such a powerful heroine is icing on the cake. What do you think of the “Shake Off Gandrayda” stuff? It’s a similar scenario in terms of the power mismatch between Samus and Gandrayda. And Gandrayda wants her, just like the Kihunters do.
@@dMGraymusic Perfect description. Still prefer Gandrayda due to the rivalry and crush she has on Sammy, but it's hard not to look at the Kihunter and Super Kihunter enemies and not be at least a little jealous. 🤣
