Metroid Prime Remastered - Optimal Prime 

I think it's a testament to how well they've managed to replicate the original's overall art style that Jon still thinks that this is more or less how the original looked, when in every comparison it's clear that this is a massive effort and pretty much every single model and texture has been changed to some degree.

Hopefully the RU-vid algorithm will show your video of this game now that it’s a popular topic.

At least they have the decency to officially give it a name to distinguish it from the original, a rarity in this day and age, it seems.

Jon. The 7 minutes escape is not for urgency. It is to make sure the player understands the controls. This was a thing in Super Metroid.

Oh man, Metroid Prime! And Jon even included his fight with Flaahgra this time! I'm glad more people can play this now that it's on Switch, finally.

As a note. Remasters are just the same game with graphical overhauls and minor tweaks to controls and such. Remakes are rebuilding the game from the ground up following the story beats of the original and adding in new features and such. So for Metroid Prime Remaster its just gonna be the same game with a fresh new coat of paint. And Im all for it. Just making the difference of Remake vs Remaster understood. Love the video and the content. Keep on keeping on

As a note, you can change many of the controls. For example, you can put missiles on X and use R+d pad for changing weapons. Or swap weapon/visor controls. Edit: even without the swap buttons screen, just in menu.

I played the Trilogy version of this game sometime last year, which was the first time I'd ever played through it, and then beat the Remaster in about two or three days of playing. The remaster is so pretty. Also, as a note, you can set your controls to being like the gamecube original in-game.

I think you're doing a bit of a disservice to the redone graphics of the remaster. They remained very true to the original's art style, but the lighting, textures, models etc. are vastly improved over the original. Literally everything has been redone/replaced.

I played the Gamecube version so much that I broke the disc from overuse. I figure that says how much I enjoyed it.

I remember playing the original on the Wii back in the day, it was such a cool feature to use the wiimote to aim her arm cannon, the nostalgia is strong with this game

I think a "Remaster" has no right to actually change the games content. Not to mention that hardcore fans would be really angry. It's a difficult argument with new players. I've read very critical reviews of the RE remasters, because so many idiotic and annoying UI "features" of the originals had been retained. They came from the perspective of a new player playing these classics. But they got heavily criticized (read: slaughtered) by fans for their criticism. Which i understand for the keep it real arguemnt. It got very silly when it went to a "these features are what makes the game good". You know, inventory management, door opening animations... You can't please both sides. But if you call it "Remaster" you have a good excuse to leave the game alone beyond controls and graphics.

It's funny how he gives a 2 minute explanation for this game. But every time he goes to play fallout gives a 45 minute tutorial lmao

This was one of the biggest games of my childhood and I am so happy it is remastered. And not just an upscaling they actually updated the gameplay.

Prior to the Incinerator, Jon gets "infinite respawning vibes" from the wasps. After the Incinerator, Jon states that the player can "just take out the entire nest." The Incinerator taught Jon how to defeat the infinitely spawning wasps without him even realizing it. How is that not elegant?

I played this game recently on the GC and this looks leagues better. I only miss the "lighting" effect of the cannon while charged, but the remaster seems to be a bit brighter overall.

Just a heads up, you don't need to use the switch controller config menu to swap the controls. In game has a pretty extensive control customization section in the options menu.

I’m so baffled by the end cards. Why is it A Way Out with Job yelling about laundry? Shouldn’t it be the other Metroid Prime video? Or another remastered game? Why is it always STOP DOING LAUNDRY? Is it just me?

I wanna start this off by saying i love your videos and i watch everything you put on your channel. However, you gotta shut the f*** up about saying things should of been removed from this remaster. If anything it ahould of been 100% identical to the original 0-00 version down to the speed tricks that game had. This is my favorite game ever created and it is absolutely perfect. Every boss belongs here. And the fire bot thing ur thinkin of is known as Zoid.

So around Christmas time I decided on a whim to dig up my old Gamecube and buy a copy of Prime on eBay so I accidentally got to play the original and the remaster almost back to back and good heavens is the remaster good!! I so so hope they do the other Prime games

I think on my first playthrough I got like 95% of scans and 99% of items. Wish I had a switch so I could play it again.

Metroid Prime: 10/10 masterpiece Metroid Prime Remastered: 9/10 outstanding playing in 900p with very little (any?) anti-aliasing and little environmental effects in the year 2023 makes it show its age. That being said, I still loved playing it. (8Bitdo controller pad also helped a lot)

I love this game. DO NOT buy it from Nintendo. Digital can always be shut down. They released it later for physical copy, and just delayed it again. I love Nintendo products and games, but we need to stop supporting their terrible market practices.

Haha light touch remaster... No it isn't. Watch a side by side comparison. They have replaced every single bit of geometry and 3d model. You likely think it looks the same because they haven't butchered the feel and atmosphere at all.

I demand a part 2

Metroid Prime was my first Metroid game and frankly few of the non-prime Metroid entries have really grabbed my attention. This had everything I love in a game first person shoot, platforming, puzzle solving, and most importantly a 3d map you could rotate. I cannot stress enough how many games since then have had 3d rooms with 2d maps and I'm looking for some door or passageway with no clue how high up it may be. I primarily only has two very small complaints about this game: 1.The world building didn't go far enough. Like it's interesting seeing what happened to the Chozo but to this day I still want to know more about the Metroid universe. 2. It is important to scan bosses because not only does it reveal weaknesses but you need them to get a 100% completion and if you get caught up and forget to scan one (especially that very easy boss on the space station) you can kiss that goodbye.

Never seen this one before. Looks interesting. I heard "Nintendo", and I didn't understand any of the commentary about key settings, so I'm assuming this is a console game. Is there a PC version? Jon, you've braved the horrors of Metro 2033, and sampled, far too briefly, the world of Metro Exodus. The hole in between them screams out to be filled. I have a copy of Metro: Last Light, the second game, for the X-Box 360, never used and still in the holy shrinkwrap. You are welcome to it if you don't have a copy. And Fallout 4 is starting to feel neglected. Getting on for half a year since your content visited it. .
