Jon trying to kill the regenerating monsters for like 2 minutes while a literal giant green tower heals them right in front of his eyes without him even realizing it, is simply amazing. Don’t change…
Maybe Ooblets? Ooblets is a life sim game kinda like Stardew Valley + Pokemon where you farm, make friends, etc. The best bit is the "battles" which are card based dance-offs. It is chill and friggin adorable!
More to the point: There weren't a whole lot of women astronauts in the Apollo era, given that the first one to join NASA was in 1978. There was the unofficial Mercury 13, but none of them were ever likely to fly (nor did any of them experience something that could be described as "the accident"). So something screwy is going on with the timeline in any case.
Jacob Geller did a fantastic video on the story of this game. Explaining just how deep the themes and metaphors go. "Returnal is a Hell of our own creation". Go watch if ya wanna know the story without the gameplay.
honestly, any game that even attempts to explain why the character is coming back again and again already gets bonus points from me for effort. Gonna have to check this out now since Hades was one of my all time favorite games of recent time! ok, so I never get a notification for polls so I post my vote for a Returnal livestream!
Couldn't click fast enough!! One of my all time favorite roguelites. It even got a friend of mine into gaming it's so bloody good!! I'd do terrible things to get a full series of this gem 😍
This is my game of the year and one of my favorite games of all time! Excited to see you playing and even more excited *I* finally get to play it now that it’s released on PC
Would love for Jon to do a full playthrough and discover how deep that rabbit hole goes. Also his thoughts on the intertwining mythology. Fyi, the beginning area is one of the trickier bits as you haven't really unlocked anything yet. But once you do, it is an awesome, trippy ride. Selene is the new Ripley
Day 964 of requesting Zoo Tycoon. On the one hand, she now has all the time she needs to explore the planet. On the other hand she can't exactly do all the fun Groundhog Day learning montages unless her ship came loaded with all the stuff she needs for assorted hobbies. On the OTHER other hand, she won't run out of oxygen now...
Jon: Green means health. Also Jon: Why aren't these enemies that all have green beams going to them taking any damage?! Better just keep shooting them!
@@redsargent1 Saddens me as a Finn how Finnish studios seem to "sell out" for exclusivity deals more often than not, Returnal was only on PS5, Remedy seems to be Epic's baby now, well at least some indies are multiplat
I've gotten to level 5 or 6 in returnal and the bosses get soo hard but sometimes you just get lucky on weapon drops and abilities and can just do super well when other times you just die in the first 5 min. Luckily once you beat the boss you don't have to refight it every single time but that being said sometimes they are worth fighting just for the loot they drop
It's not a game I'm ever going to play, but it is good to see a game that set out to try something different. Not sure how well the open world 3D bullet hell roguelike mashup would work after a few hours, but yeah, in an industry that is in love with reboots, and annual sequels, at least it feels like its own thing.
@John Last year was a good one for quality games, wasn't it! Sadly I am limited by physiology to what games I can really play) to quote Fallout 4's Virgil "these hands are ridiculous, fine motor skills have gone to shit!"), this is why I love channels like this, where I get to have a taste of all different kinds of games. Besides, I am so far behind on releases, I am literally starting Skyrim properly for the first time (thankfully with lots of mods to help the useless old hands)! I really appreciate your comment, it's so good to hear from people who have spent a lot of time with a game!!
I think I'd be more interested if there was a bit more of a colour palette. It's a bit too dreary, and I think my eyes would be tired after 30 or 40 minutes.
"Groundhog Day Planet". Or, indeed, "Edge of Tomorrow" planet. Those first monsters are mimics. I see what you're doing there! So they made a game that liberally borrows from a movie that wasn't based on a videogame but acts like it was...? This is really confusing.
Ive only played the first hour or so, but there definitely seems to be a good deal or lore and story elements to keep me pushing on. I very quickly filled up a codex of lore already.
I hope you or markiplier do a playthrough of this because it’s really cool and seems like an actually fun new game but the kind just like doom and high on life that would frustrate me a lot
Jon, you absolutely have to check out rainworld, it is a game made just for you! It doesn't speak or explain stuff yet you have to observe and understand to push trough, give it a check I think you would really enjoy it.
most game breaking upgrade for your guns are regenerating bullets once you have those you just can't die. but you don't get them until the second biome lol
I loved playing thru returnal, i haven't gone back to it since i got the platinum cause i needed a break (mainly from those floating world 6 Steppenwolf looking fucks that malfunction you with every hit) but this makes me wanna go revisit it
Jon - you know, I bet there was some things you could have reacted to or commented on in those first few hours. Very atmospheric game, probably had some story in there.
Not particularly interested in seeing more of this. It seems fine but kind of, eh. Whatever happened to Tinykin? You seemed super high on it when you tried it out and was hoping that'd be come up again.
Glad your playing this crazy mess cuz I got no intention of every polluting my HDD with it. I also bet you never ever play it again after today. But it is a pretty thing, to be fair.
