Quick little Tool-Assisted Stealth run through the Pirate's ship. Not Optimized, just a Demonstration. Can be vastly improved. I planned to do this for a while. What other place is as perfect as this for a little TASing?
I hate how they put so many callbacks to the Wrecked Ship only to tell us later in the interview that: "Nope, they are completely different". And yeah, I get it, there is a part of the Wrecked Ship we can visit, but it looks nothing like in Super Metroid, and I never knew it was supposed to be it.
Well maybe we could put all that under "Sakamoto was crazy at the time". I mean technically the Prime Series isn't considered canon by him. Yet Nintendo almost hid that statement away from the view of fans, we're still getting prime games, and overall they're showing excitement at continuing that half of the series.
His statement was that Prime was a side-story. Which makes sense with it being a bunch of in-between games for Metroid 1 and Metroid 2. Its definitely canon now what with the Metroid 2 remake adding Ridley who was transitioning from Meta Ridley to his full bodied self in Super Metroid.
@@gabiwolf1439to be fair, they took away the visual cue for walljumps that Super Metroid had while retaining the execution, so it’s more hidden than in any other game
I like how the music didn't changed. Fits the stealth feeling much more. It would also be a cool challenge to try out a stealth run if only the first one wasn't so unavoidable.
that makes it sound more like they'd expect some people to attempt a full stealth run, and despawned some pirates if you haven't been caught to make such a thing possible
Thanks for the nice comment. This was around the time HD videos were first introduced on RU-vid. I tinkered around with that, and even back then, I was able to do videos almost as good as what's possible nowadays with some trial and error first, but the reason I uploaded old game stuff in 480p, is because I was stubborn about upscaling old game stuff too much (still am tbh, lol), but since RU-vid introduced 60fps video at 720p and higher, kinda have to now, plus 720p and higher looks better on RU-vid anyway with how it processes videos.
It’s interesting to see that this video is getting some attention around a decade after it’s upload. The algorithm is weird I suppose. Very cool TAS regardless.
Pirate 1: wut up dude, u know a moment ago I was on surveilance and all of the sudden I got really cold, I know it makes no sense but, please dont think im crazy... but I even believe I was like frozen for a brief moment? Pirate 2: I hear u! same thing happened 2 me, man! Pirate 1: NO WAY
Something cool about this older TAS is that it isn't too far off from what a normal playthrough looks like. Most TAS nowadays are so crazy with how many humanly impossible inputs they do in such short periods of time. In another TAS of Zero Mission, people intentionally get caught several times, zipping and zooming around everywhere, up walls, etc.
This is an unoptimised TAS, meaning that I didn't use optimal inputs or anything like that, it was more a showcase with minimal use of frame advance, and save states. Pretty much all of the TAS' I did back then were more freerun types for entertainment purposes instead of optimal gameplay.
👏👏 Wow I've beaten Zero Mission so many times and not once gotten close to a perfect stealth like you did. I didn't even know about those hidden pathways in the wall when you were falling.
Samus: Writers! Where is my Power Suit? Writers: Huh? Samus: Where. Is. My. Power. Suit! Writers: We turned it off when your ship exploded! Samus: WHY?! Writers: Why do you need to know? Samus: My life's in danger! Writers: Our FANBASE is in danger! Samus: YOU TELL WHERE MY SUIT IS, PEOPLE! WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE GREATER GOOD!!! Writers: "GREATER GOOD?!" You are a WOMAN! That is the greatest "GOOD" we're EVER gonna get!
That last run against the three last pirates... I always do exactly the same, without stopping, but the third pirate always catch me, even after turning back... Wtf...
Samus used to look more like a proper jpn artwork videogame character before ZeroMission/Prime2. But they decided to turn her into basically barbie. With cartoon-simplified yellow hair and a much easier to draw cartoon-simplified face //haha some _aimless wanderer_ got rinsed away from the comments for trying to start something here😄 free entertainment yaay!
This makes me wish we got more stealth missions with zero suit Samus, this was a very unique level compared to all of the other levels I've seen in Metroid games. It could even be a fun challenge to replay missions with only the zero suit, with the goal of completing the mission with low health and firepower.
This was my favorite part of this game; Sneaking around and hiding. 😁Too bad you don't see a lot of stealth modes like this in games nowadays. 😮Batman on PS2 was like this;🙂 It was really fun. 😁
I explained before, but RU-vid removed all of my comments I ever made at some point. This video was made with pre-60fps RU-vid standard in mind, so I used a frame blending technique at 30fps to have 2 frames be displayed every frame. I am crouching once per frame, then standing once per frame, and blended this way, it looks as if there are 2 Samus'.
