One correction: The CDC has updated their guidelines (July ‘21) to state that alcohol does not cause a disulfiram reaction so you no longer have to tell patients to avoid alcohol when taking Metronidazole

I believed alcohol should not be taken while taking any meds because it alters the potency of any meds.

Even if it's CDC guidelines, ETOH is never a good idea to encourage when teaching a client. RISK-BENEFIT ratio.
