The robot and Dr. Smith were a comedy duo.

In the pilot episode, he was absolutely serious and machine-like. Harris told the producers the robot needed to have a personality to play off the evil Dr Smith. He was right!

Considering Smith's insults, the Robot had a sense of humor!

I think LiS should be considered science fantasy. So much of it's science is garbage. The writers might have been able to spin a good yarn, but the "science" they used was so bad and inconsistent it makes the show so hard to watch today. Space: 1999 isn't as bad, overall, but the basic premise is impossible. Guess that is why I love Star Trek TOS so much. Much of the science is based in fact, or at least believable (except perhaps "Spock's Brain......*shudders*). Lost in Space looked great and had many fun moments, but it's science is horrible.

@@georgehenderson7783 in one or two episodes, he's referred to as robot model b-9, class m-3. I think it's the one where he swears allegiance to the cybernetic brain. Not sure.

I read that the rollers in the robot's base initally worked well on motors but soon broke so technicians had cables attached to the base and pulled to make the robot "roll", sometimes when the scene included a long "walking/rolling" scene the base and lower part of the robot's "legs" had to be detached to allow the actor walk quickly in smalls steps. Usually it was somehow concealed by rocks or furniture but the movement of the legscould be noticed anyway.

The movie lost in space robot was voiced by the same guy who voiced the TV robot ..

the netflix show was too woke...a black judy and female dr smith....NEVER...I never watched that netflix show...glad it was cancelled...the original is best....and I am black

I loved it. You're just close minded. It's a reboot with a different style and approach, which I think payed off. That and It's the only version with a proper conclusion. Matter of fact, it's the only Lost In Space to NOT to get canceled. The original was after 87 episodes.
