For the arms, it seems like an easier method for installation would have been some type of twist and lock method. A metal ring in the arm hole, with keyed notches, that match a plate on the arms. Fit each arm into place, and then turn them 90 degrees to lock them into place.
Why is it that almost everyone that makes an assembly video, fails to show the finished product? Seriously, you couldn't just show the fully assembled Robot working for a few seconds?
This is a brilliant homemade project. Sure we can sit back and criticize why this is too long or why this controller is too large, but this machine is way cool. I don't have the skill set to reproduce characters from my favorite sci-fi television show. How many of you criticizing could do this or even conceive of it?
As a kid, I was fascinated by one tiny detail on B9: the winch-points on his shoulders! Those two silly little bits of metal had me dreaming of the day they'd attach cables and lower him into a cave... Alas, nothing is every attached to those little straps.
I would have liked to have seen the original robot from the late 60s before the invention of the C.D player and Bluetooth it would have been either quite simple electronics or difficult with old school valves and a tape player.
This is cool with the electronics but I would want an exact replica of the original where a guy could get inside and it still did stuff. The warning about the bubblehead raising too high and breaking will be a problem. Nobody reads/watches the instructions and kids who see it will run to it and play with the controls.
@@CosFXStudios Hah! How are ya Bruce? The band was "Spoil The Child" with a frizzy-haired guy named Steve Busman. His wife played flute and we had a red-headed keyboardist who limped. Check out my album: talesofloveanddefiance.com .
There was never a viper cockpit video game. Why? Not the slug thrower newer remake. Scanners super imposed with 3D ships in a star field. Would have been so cool.
Why didn't you just attach the arms before placing the torso on to the lower half? You could have just used some tape across the claws to hold the arms in
I was 10 yrs old when Lost In Space aired for the first time. Irwin Allen created some great shows. Robot (B9) was way more believable tech than Robby the robot. The bubble extension issue can be fixed using a micro switch to kill the up power.
At 5:12 the robot says "Who turned out the lights?" twice. That sounds like a line from an episode of the current series of Doctor Who. Shorten the bubble extender so that at if the actuator travels its full distance you won't damage anything. I would also think it would be easier to put the arms in place before putting on the head.
its funny how they use the new the new version of the themes opening music these days and rarely use the original one from the first 2 season . The funny part is that for the entire life spand of the show they allways described Jonathan Harris as a guess star instead of one of the main characters like he actually was . In fact most people liked the show mainly because of him and Billy Mumy and the robot named Robot . Many of us kids at the time played lost in space in our backyard and we would have someone playing the role of the robot using cardboard boxes and later when technology came up with automatic washers and dryers we used those white plastic spring like pipes for the exit of the dryer to use as robot arms and we ran arround the yard yelling ''Danger Danger Danger '' and other the role of Dr Smith. We had so much fun playing that when we were kids . I still remember when we played this late at night and that when time came to go to bed my mom would come out and yell bedtime and that we continued to yell ''Danger Danger Danger '' hoping she would let us play more . But naturally those were the end of the 60's and start of the 70's mOms did not fool arround and my mom allways said if you dont come in soon you will be in ''Danger Danger Danger '' My mom was good at being Ironic even if she ment it as a joke . These times were what made childhood and family of the 60's and 70's so special . When i see how todays kids lose that connection so soon with their parents before they become teens today it kind of makes me sad cause its not becasue you become a teenager that you need to seperate the good opportunities to make good memories with them cause those times will never come back . . How many kids today have fond memories good or bad about their teen years with their parents that now seem funny instead of drastic ? Shows like these are what reminds you of who you were and how happy familys were back then . Its with these shows that we became who we are today and how optomistic and joyfull we stayed all of our lives . I stil remeber how lovely i found Judy Robinson which is normal since she was only 20 years old which i was surprise to hear recently casue i allways thought she was much older than that like in Pennys case which was only 13 in real life but looked more like 18 with her big boobs and her silouette. never expected Maureen Robison to actually be 41 casue she didn't look old at all , I was more counting on 30 at the most but then again it wouldn,t have match with the age of Judy would it
@@peterloader974 why would he do that ? wasn't it more fruitfull to get a main character status ? Unless that by being called a guess star that gave him the option to leave at anytime he wanted to ?
There are only two plugs one with four connections and ..wait five connections and one with 5 no 6 connections no wait I mean 5 no …. six connections, yes six connections and this is plug number four ..., I mean 5 .. no six and the third plug I mean second plug has 5 ... no four ... yes 4 connections. Who is this guy? I guess he never heard of making a script and then testing it so that the plugs and the rest of the video is not so screwed up. This was really funny to watch.
5:30 I have that same stereo in my car. It's a Kenwood KDC-U5049DAB. It has a removable face plate and comes with an infra red remote control. It can play files from USB sticks or receive audio input via a phono jack. It can also control an iPod.
Very nice,...now you have to incorporate some advance AI and really shock some people. Or how about adapting Amazon's alexa in the robots voice? Again, fantastic job!!!!
This guy seems to know what he's doing, so why wouldn't he merely shorten the extender, so it was impossible to raise it beyond a certain point? Sooner or later someone will push that remote too long.
In 2017, a small mp3 player would be much smaller, lighter, use much less power, and provide far more, longer lasting, and easier to back up storage of he voice audio than an outdated CD player.
Excellent rendition. Although the original had a more matte finish (prevents reflections from studio lights) the gloss on this one is like a car finish. Not bad.
That actually wouldn't help. The problem isn't the length of the extender, it's the distance of travel. Cut the conduit and in the retracted position it wouldn't be tall enough for the head to be in the right position when retracted. Basically it's the correct length when retracted, but it moves too far. The correct solution is to add limit switches so when it reaches the max allowable height it cuts power. Or a bit more brute-force, some kind of stop block so it can't move past a certain point tho that's a bit iffy, especially if you get some kid or dingus who just keeps holding the button once it hits the limit, you're just asking to break something or burn something out.
@Kimble Simpson You still don't get it do you but I guess you are the sort of person who, on a daily basis likes to try and put people down by stating the f+*&ing obvious. Here's an idea - wind your neck in and re-read our posts and then, just then you might have a lightbulb moment. Sadly, I very much doubt that will happen.
The 3 aliens took the Robot apart and 2 humans put him back together, oh and Will helped, ,, sound familiar ? It's sweeter than my 88 camaro, lol !!! Sweet !!!!
Why wasn't the bubble lifter just altered before it was delivered so it would work correctly without fear of damage? It seems ridiculous not to have everything in perfect working order. Is there at lease a way to fix it correctly? Also, that Robot is crazy noisy. I have never heard a Robot making that much motor noise.
I think the fact that it doesn't have a limit switch on the brain height and him saying if you extend it too far it will break is frankly ridiculous. The way it slams back down and jerks to one side making the brain section jerk with it is a terrible design. Also, him forgetting that it should be assembled with the power off, or even that there is a risk if assembled with the power on is really quite reckless and dangerous. Why not insulate all the wiring so that there is no risk? A CD player in 2017? Really? Good grief there are far better options available for sound and voice. The motors are way too noisy.. I imagine this robot costs thousands of dollars and these small details really are unacceptable. I've seen much better implementations of all this technology by amateur builders shown in other RU-vid videos
A craftsman would have included limiting micro switches , the fob controller is a real weak point in the system too much chance of inadvertent operation . This rates as a prototype in development.
