Awesome review! I'm curious on how to send that wireless feed to an atem device and what the latency will be like. It would be nice to be able to use something like this as a roaming camera for our church livestream without having to buy a wireless transmitter that costs more than the camera it's attached to 🤔
So far I know the wireless feed goes to the Mevo Multicam App, but think about the SRT and NDI options, that could be something to explore here for your case
Same price, lenses and footprint as a Blackmagic micro studio camera, without the need for an ATEM.... and produces footage more or less on par with the sub $1,000 ATEMs. It seems they hit the target markets basic needs quite nicely. Would be interesting to know if the SD recording can do 1080p60 however.
Absolutely. It’s made for a specific market and for now we have 30fps on both 4K and 1080p but I am very confident they will add a lot of new features with firmware updates, remember the whole thing is software based so there is a lot of potential here.
@LiveProductionTips I consider the software connection to be the limiting issue tbh. Can't trust an eco system that is 100% reliant upon mobile device app updates. I'm currently pricing out a 6 camera setup to be shared between 4 locations. These MEVOs hit a lot of the pain points encountered with alternate options, but not enough to clearly rise to the top of the pile. Not having direct ethernet or POE on the camera is a huge miss. It being available via dongle is almost OK, except the usb c ports don't have locks. Awesome product for a home based streamer. Falls well short of the needs of anyone that is setting up a mobile, or temporary installation. Even if the 3rd party people fix the design compromises via cages etc, them being locked to a specific company for mobile app updates to have basic functionality is a deal breaker.
@@ZagatoZee I agree this camera is not for everyone and if you need it you know. But I also look at it as just a beginning of something big. Now Wi-fi technology is getting better so imagine Mevo Core V.2 or V.4, I personally stream weddings sometimes with my GH5 and a Yolobox, yes it works but I hate to deal with HDMI cables or HDMI transmitters so this camera setup is perfect for me, I can bring my phone or iPad with a WIFI router and be able to get 2 camera feed wirelessly. People will get creative with this setup and I am sure Logitech will keep adding features to meet the needs of the market.
@LiveProductionTips I do similar work occasionally. I'll take running a single cat 6 cable to each camera given the chance, wifi is just not reliable enough to be the only choice. Not by the time you have venue lights, venue and photographers microphones, venues public and private wifi networks, neighbouring venues wifi, flash triggers and 200 guests phones causing issues. If the cameras can connect to an AP and be fully controlled via a web interface, reporting to any software on the network - then let's go. But as far as anyone has said so far, the camera controls are via the mobile app only. That should be a huge red flag to anyone intending to have these in use for any extended length of time.
@ZagatoZee you know this is not the first Mevo camera though the system has been out for quite some time this is just an upgrade to a bigger sensor and interchangeable lens camera. I am gonna be running some test for sure. I have used wifi before for streaming and it if you have a good signal usually it works well as long as you don’t use high bit rates.
Think about the how much it cost to get HDMI transmitters, or video switchers like the Yolobox pro you won't need that anymore. If you have done any mobile live stream before you would easily understand the value
What about subscription price... about $19 per month. That would soon add up to the price of a switcher and at least the switcher could be used with more devices. Still trying to understand this camera & Mevo as the specs seem pretty low ie only 30fps streaming and extremely low bitrate internal recording.
@@Altcine there are people already using the previous Mevo who can justify the cost of the App. The camera may not be a good fit for your situation and it’s ok. And being too pricey for you it’s normal you may not be the only one but usually it’s because the camera wasn’t made for you. The target user already knows how valuable it is. Trust me.
@@LiveProductionTips we just bought a few acres of land and are in the process of buying more surrounding it for purpose of building studio spaces for live streaming, podcasts and shows. We don't need top of the line camera's but we do need a robust system. As the stuff will be used by lots of different people, I do want something easy to use, good quality and reasonable options. One of the current podcasts is doing some serious numbers so we were looking at implementing a better system rather than using hybrid cams. I saw this and thought it looked great until I saw the spec. Money isn't a problem, use case is definitely in our scope but I don't just throw money away. I actually wanted to get a bit of advice of why we should consider this because a few people sent me links and you seem knowledgeable but I wasn't expecting that answer . Regardless of existing users, every company wants new users.
