Mexican Moms try BANNED American Foods 

and now the question we should all be asking is why does OUR country allow it????

Hello from Australia to the most entertaining Mexican Mum's! So, it is true, the USA ingredients are banned, but we have most of the products here, just different ingedients. It is never due to sugar content - because you can just go and buy bags of sugar. It is usually because of some colouring agent, preservative agent or an artificial sweetener that, in Australia, has been dertermined to be an At Risk substance unsuitable for human consumption. So, from my knowledge on the products mentioned in the USA, we do / don't have them here (If we have them, the ingredients are different): Yes: Skittles (different colouring agents), Mountain Dew (no bromide), Instand Mashed Potatoes (We have dehydrated potato flakes you add hot water and butter to, I am guessing they are the same just without BH additive. Of note though, about 20 yrs ago we had a few options, now I think the only brand is Deb Instant Mash, so maybe less popular in general?), Farmed Salmon (mostly from the island state of Tasmania, but I am guessing without the colouring agent used in the USA), Pop Tarts (but I am guessing without the colouring / flavouring agent... I must say I like the Cherry and Cinnamon Brown Sugar ones... on ocassion 😉 ), Fruit Loops (I guess without the colouring agents, I haven't tried the USA version but I am told they are brighter in colour), Fruit from USA (I am not sure about apples, but I often see Grapes, Oranges and Cherries fom the USA, so, I am not sure if that applies to Australia BUT our quarantine rules are super strict so don't bring any with you if you come on vacation, it will be confiscated and you risk a nasty fine on arrival). No: Tysons (No, we have similar brands but there are limits on added hormoned and antibiotics), Little Debbie Swiss Rolls (we do get imports of some other USA treats like Twinkies though - maybe you can get Swiss Rolls, but I have not seen them in QLD, VIC or TAS), Hungry Man Dinner (The brand isn't here but we have similar frozen meals of chicken etc). Just from Australia, as best I know, could be different in other countries. 🙂

In Germany we have skittles montain dew fruit loops Pop tarts but without the chemicals when we buy colored candys then its often colored from fruits and vegetables but sometime it's sadly also from chemicals

Mountain Dew has brominated oil to stabilize the citrus flavoring in it. The FDA revoked the regulation in July 2024 which allowed brominated oil in the US, but it won't take affect until August of 2025 to give manufacturers time to reformulate their drinks. And Tyson, I have NEVER bought or used Tyson products because of their overuse of antibiotics, not to mention inhumane treatment of their poultry. Free range chickens are healthy, happy, and very tasty.

Sugar should be cut by at least 1/2 in America, start going with dye free all natural. No wierd fillers or chemicals whats the point? Actually more expensive the more you add

I have brought some of these to Amsterdam to my friends teenager. They have very strict food laws. They don’t have dyes, chemicals, or fructose, corn syrup, in their foods. They don’t even have goldfish because of the dyes. The kids there are much more healthy and are more active. They ride bikes everywhere and school lunches are much healthier. They have sugar, sprinkles , pancakes but without all the chemicals and fake sugar. They are not as obese and not as much diabetes. We need to follow that example.

I'm so surprised that they called some of this junk food healthy. Just cuz the TV dinners had a side of corn doesn't make it healthy. Also I don't know if they understand that it's not the amount of sugar that makes them illegal in other countries but the fact that the product is using chemicals or ingredients that are banned in other countries because of they are bad for the health or can cause cancer.

Gotta love how they gradually stopped censoring the groserías xD, it gives people on the USA a wider panoram on mexican slang besides of Taco and Burrito hahahah. Excellent choice Mamah! Official Sello de Aprobación Mexicano :))

Herer in Hungary (Central Europe, but actually the end of Europe) we can't buy any of these, and we also have taxes on sugary food and sodas, and chips etc. People are obese and sick, but still eat sh*t even if it is three times more expensive, and third of the size as an avarage U.S serving. Please mamahs eat healthy and stay healthy ❤

Hospital food is the worst I talk from experience

I wish people knew that it's not the sugar that's bad (in moderation of course).:( It's all the processed oils/ingredients, coloring, and preservatives that are harmful to our bodies. Companies usually try to find the cheapest way to make the most money, hence the bad processing. And we tend to try to find foods that last long with enticing looks and enhanced flavors, hence the bad ingredients. Oh, and we all want the quick and easy way to make a meal...

Good food is expensive bad food isn't.

Google bromated/bleached flour. You'll be shocked how many countries do not allow bleached flour. And 99.9% of all premade food companies are using the cheapest flours which are going to be bleached.

Eh, I wouldn’t be surprised if these claims were based on weak sources. I have known there are many substances banned in the EU but allowed in the US. Mostly because the EU wanted to be super safe despite them being safe in lower percentages, but I’m pretty almost all of these should be fine to consume, unless you’re eating 10,000,000 servings of the product every day for the rest of your life.

Como han dicho otras personas en los comentarios muchos de estos productos existen en otros países. En España por ejemplo tenemos los Froot Loops, Skittles, comidas congeladas, etc pero los aditivos que se utilizan son más regulados, tienden a ser colorantes y saborizantes naturales y la cantidad de azúcar en todos los productos es menor.

They arent so much banned as some of the chemicals and dyes they use in the US are banned elsewhere. They are made just with alternatives. (in Canada anyways)

FYI a lot of these products are still available in other countries but they produce them outside the US and they change the recipies.

Cheap dyes that are used with chemicals that your skin will absorb over time. These are more prone to give you cancer when consumed over time. Have you ever had Cancer? I have.

Everything in moderation!! Also Subway bread used to have the yoga mat stuff too so they changed it and took it out and now the bread is horrible.

Most of these were childhood foods to me. I had a bad frozen food/tv dinner phase in middle school for at least 2 years, and before that during summers of elementary school it was Lunchables or multiple mini cereal boxes, all day. I'm grateful my palate grew up and I taught myself how to cook fresh foods, but I regret it wasn't soon enough 😅 And ngl, the junk food still hits the spot when you need it like, emotionally lol. Instant mac and potatoes still served a purpose for me this year in particular 😂🫡
