I absoluteky love haw flakes, Jamaica has a large Chinese population so you can find them at pharmacies and supermarket counters, the first time i tasted it i was like, where have these been all my life?!?!?!?!

The preserved plum "mui" is related to a flavor my Mexican coworker introduced to me, chamoy. That's why the name is similar too. Chamoy was introduced to Mexico through Filipinos
I grew up on these candies too! I’m Vietnamese tho, but the ginger candies I still eat- They help keep me awake during class and they also sometimes help my cramps, my headaches too

The lai see tong has definitely changed. It's "strawberry" flavored now. The wah mui tong omg brings back so much memories for me. And the san ja I would used to eat it when I had to drink soupy liquid medicinal tea.
In my childhood I grew up eating the Jelly candy. My aunt use to live close to a Chinese community and used to buy in their stores so we had that jelly candy around. Interesting because I'm not Chinese. 😅
Grew up eating the lychee jelly, white rabbit candy, haw candy, and the lucky candy and omg this really made me miss my childhood 😭 I also remember the lucky candy being pink on the outside and filled with pink jelly
Lol! I don't like to eat any meat off of bone but the occasional craving for a chicken wing hits me so I eat it and then my husband also lectures me about how I didn't finish it. Lol!
Haw Flakes and the plum with the seed was definitely in my rotation of candy when I was younger. Somehow parents thought it was healthier lol .. the others I tried when I was older.
AHHH HAW FLAKES, I only got them when I had to drink Chines medicine but I would scour the entire kitchen to sneak bites in as a kid and sadly never found them unless there was medicine being made. Haha
My grandfather used to give my brother and me rolls of haw flakes every time we went to visit. He also smelled like cigars so that must cigar smell would hover in the air every time we ate.
