I’m Ecuadorian, I’ve tried both Mexican and Peruvian ceviche. Let me tell you, Peruvian ceviche is the best!!!! 😋😋😋

As an unbiased Colombian, I can comfortably say that Peruvian Ceviche is by far the best Ceviche.

I'm Guatemalan no bias in this but Peruvian ceviche is more elevated, textures and flavor more delicate. Mexico ceviche is delicious but Peruvian ceviche is just heaven in my mouth.

I've tried both. But Peruvian ceviche I think wins to me. Its one of my favorite dishes to eat in general

Mexican ceviche is more of an appetizer that you down with beer. Peruvian ceviche is an actual meal you get corn, with sweet potato, usually a leaf of lettuce and cancha with chicha morada on the side.

I am not Peruano (Honduran) but the Peruvian ceviche should be served on a plate not a bowl in order to enjoy the flavors and the aesthetics. Every time I had Peruvian ceviche it was more of an experience rather than just a meal because of the different flavors and colors.

I’m Peruvian and my mom made Peruvian ceviche for my now ex Mexican girlfriend. She told me a few months later her family threw it away because they thought it was disgusting. You can see why she’s my ex now.

The only ingredients that were substituted when the Spaniards invaded The Inca empire were onion, lime, black pepper, and garlic. The ancient Peruvian used products from the coast of the Pacific Ocean, the Amazon, and the high lands, instead of lime; they used citric fruits from the Amazon, salt from the highlands, and hot peppers from the coast or the Amazon. It was one of their main dish in the Caral civilization since their primary source of food was fish and seafood. Why are there different types of ceviche from Mexico to the north of South America? Because the Conquistadors ruled from Mexico to Peru, they interchange products and food to Mexico, and each connected city adopted a version of ceviche, but remember, ceviche origin began in Caral's mother civilization in this part of the world.

I've grown up eating Mexican ceviche: the fish and shrimp variations. It's delicious, but let's be real. The dish is originally from PERU. The OG is ALWAYS going to be better. I've had it before and I loved it. Love that they both require lime to give it its flavor.

Ceviche is completely Peruvian. The Mexican guy in the end said this food shows "the region where we come from", cool, but ceviche is not from Mexico, and Mexico is quite far from Peru... where it's from. I get they did their own version... but Hispanic America is not cut by the same scissor, that's why each country(and regions within each country) have different cuisines and culture. Being from Peru, I never ate Mexican until I visited Mexico... and it does annoy me they call this dish ceviche... it's like Peruvians created "Peruvian Margaritas", lol, but we obviously don't because we know that Mexican and we respect it, plus we have our own drink (Pisco Sour).
