I am familiar with most of the dishes that both you and Carol ate, including the grasshoppers because Los Angeles has a very large Oaxacan population, so we have many Oaxacan restaurants to choose from. We even have a tlayuda festival. I have had the grasshoppers several times, but unless their legs are removed, they get stuck on your teeth which is annoying. My favorite mole is verde - made with ground pumpkin seeds. My fave Mexican dish is chiles en nogada, but its made with beef and I know you and Carol don't eat beef. Its been two years since I lats visited Mexico. I normally go at least once a year, but the pandemic prevented me from visiting lats year and even earlier this year. One of my favorite places to visits are the markets to explore the food scene, so thank you for covering it in this video. However, i'm now vaccinated against Covid, so hopefully I can squeeze in a visit later this year.

Nice tour. The fruits looked lovely. What a lovely vibe that restaurant has. The bananas rolled in sugar or butter. Not low fat. :D and cooking in a pan. Will caramelize them. Naughty but very nice. Carol's food looked so tasty. And your last soup. Thank you for sharing. Take care.

@@JumpingPlaces It became my favorite quesadilla in Mexico City when I lived there for two years. But in the capital, you literally have to order it with "Oaxaca quesillo" to get your huitlacoche quesadilla WITH CHEESE! (I know, makes no sense in Spanish because the Mexican "quesadilla" comes from a Nahuatl word, not from the Spanish "queso" for cheese.) Add your favorite salsa, btw, and you'll have a party IN YOUR MOUTH.

"YEAH" Oaxaca food Market and eateries. So glad you stopped and got the ( as you call it ) Mexican pizza. I have had a few of those before and they are great. Though I am not a vegan I do love avocados, cilantro, cabbage, onion, green peppers, on mine. I was impressed with each of your dishes you had. I love those restaurants that you were in that have hotel rooms around the second and some third floors with the open air atrium to keep it cool, plus the soothing sound of the fountain. I am so glad you enjoyed your meals. Sorry you don't like hot chili's, I grow Thai chili's each year, those are hotter that a habanero's, plus 6 other chili's and peppers. But then I grew up on this food being from the San Diego area. I loved the video and loved seeing you both. I love how your hair is growing out Chris, I like it a lot and it makes you more rugged looking and handsome, like I love Carolinas cute curls. I am so glad you stopped in Oaxaca. A local Oaxacan person told me that if the Tlayuda is open like a pizza 🍕 with tomatoes 🍅 is not a real Tlayuda . And indeed i tried them again in a little restaurant away from a touristy market : The difference was huge! So amazingly flavorful. It’s folded like a giant crispy quesadilla cooked on charcoal with melted delicious cheese … and no fresh tomatoes 🍅 lol 😂

Cousin moved from Mex. City to Halifax w/her 2 kids IN SUMMER 2 yrs ago. Hated winter at 1st, but Covid actually HELPED her accept it & even LOVES the snow now, despite mostly staying in! (Been twice to Vancouver myself in summer, but I live in L.A., where our mtns get snow each year, so I'm not cold-phobic like most other Mexicans.) Funny, I HATE L.A.'s summer/autumn for the absolutely SCORCHING temps, but Mexico seems to only have air conditioners in beach areas, so I prefer summers in BRITISH COLUMBIA, winters in Mex.

@@oscarlugo8761 Canada is a great place to raise children because it has good health care and education system, child support/protection and good public safety in general but it's a boring place for people in their 30's and 40's who doesn't have family. Summer in Canada is great to enjoy nature but other than that there's not much to do here. The cost of living in Canada is also becoming unaffordable especially in bigger cities such here in Toronto. I'm just saving enough so I can live somewhere comfortably that has amazing culture, weather and warm people such as Mexico. :-)
