Mexico's Longest Bus Journey (#11)

There I was, stuck in Queretaro on my way to Hidalgo, thinking that it would just be a few quick hours before I arrived. Oh no, sweet child. Living in Mexico can be painful. The journey would take almost 24 hours. The good thing though was that the experience made me an expert on riding buses in Mexico, and being the generous individual that I am, I've decided to share this bounty of knowledge with you. Aren't you lucky. If you're moving to Mexico, take notes.

If there's anything you take from this video, let it be that Mexican bus tickets are cooler than your country's bus tickets.

New fan of your channel. I have a question as a USA citizen trying to learn as many languages as possible: Do you have a special innate trait, or knack that allows you to absorb language so fast? Were you exposed at an early age? Do you have a special technique or is it just hardwork, dedication and immersion? I plan to set myself in all directions for language immersion across the globe and any direction will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the inspiring videos!

I'd say the more you explore languages, you start developing an awareness to how they're built, in a way, making the learning process at least a bit more streamlined But Tommy has one critical advantage in his arsenal that many people don't, immersion. Look at all his mexican videos, he has to interact with Spanish speakers without any crutches, just his rusty albeit quite nice) Spanish, and with that, he is develops his Spanish in a natural and intuitive way as he catches how others speak and can use this information to fine-tune his own Spanish far quicker than anything you'd be able to do by yourself

When you get into a taxi in Mexico, you should ride shotgun, not in back...
@notyourbuddy26
@notyourbuddy26 2 года назад
Why
@tribudeuno
@tribudeuno 2 года назад
@@notyourbuddy26 ... "When in Rome, do as the Romans do"... Also, you don't have to wait for a green light to walk across the street, you can go anytime when safe, without legal repercussions... The US says that an intersection is dangerous, so they put a camera that takes your picture when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. This to them is their idea of a free society. In Tijuana, the yellow light flashes three times to warn you that the light is about to go red. That is true concern for the people's safety, one that maximizes the person's options based on real time information, so they can drive responsibly, which responsibility is part and parcel of life as a truly free person. I'm not going to tell you what that responsibility is, just that without it it will heighten the possibility of losing freedom. Whatever springs from your heart to do...
@jumpy2xstreaming

Yea why? I rode in the back everytime when I was there
@tribudeuno
@tribudeuno Год назад
@@jumpy2xstreaming … Oh, you can ride where you want, just Mexicans don’t ride anywhere but shotgun unless someone already had taken that seat, like if your party takes up all the seats in a taxi libre… I noticed that it was implied to be like that in Saudi Arabia, in the movie Hologram for the King, when the driver told Tom Hanks to ride in the front, “I’m not a chaffer”… If you want to act like an American as you travel around the world, then act like an American. But I think that Tom would tell you that if you want to really taste of the culture, to have the people treat you like you were one of them, then do the subtle things that the culture does, like ride in the front of the taxi…
