soufrin fr chichen itza is a little over rated. I highly recommend teotihuacan or uxmal less crowded and you can actually walk up the steps on the temples there. It’s a lot cheaper too.

Helen Hu yes that would be good too BUT the overrated part.. that is not the matter I am interested in the history, architecture and religion behind the Chichen itza

soufrin fr : i love that you do not succumb to other people’s attempts to discourage you from visiting a place they deem “overrated”. we all draw different experiences from our travels, all unique in their own ways. while the Chitchen Itza isnt the most impressive in terms of structural grandeur, it is steeped in history. getting a proper guide like the one i had not only gets u thru the gates BEFORE sunrise and BEFORE its open to tourists, but ull get a wealth of info and enjoy the space in peace and tranquility while ur at it. priceless. hit up Mario at www.bushmanphoto.com :)

I went today and had a toured. It's pretty fascinating to hear and see the grounds. The idea if the temples and life/death are remarkable. The sacrificing area and the games they played are astounding . And no one can climb the ruins anymore because people have ruined a lot of it. A lot of the acoustics relays on the steps being intact so that doesn't make it "overrated" Heads up though that theres vendors on the grounds. They are the illegal as chichen itza is federal property . Anything in the building and in the parking lot is legal. Dont fo in September unless you wanna die. It's super hot

Surf and Turf Travel : well the water was about 18 degrees celcius when i was there in feb. a long sleeved rash guard over my swimsuit was enough to keep warm cuz i only snorkelled and swam... if ur planning to scuba then a short 3mm scuba suit should suffice.

Also carrying all the equipment around...

because i have skillz and steady hands - footage is filmed either on iphone or a small compact canon cam. i didnt bring my drone, instead i borrowed my friend’s DJI mavic pro in mexico. because drones are banned in peru and cuba so i didnt bother takin it along. dont worry abt my “equipment” - i travelled light. and dont even worry abt whether ive enjoyed myself fully: the footage u see here are only 20% of what ive experienced.
