I thought Millar did good, his speed and work rate is a real asset, he didn’t create much offensively but if we’re trying to hold a lead or a draw he’s a good player to have. Oso on the other hand doesn’t fit in this aggressive pressing scheme, he doesn’t have the legs anymore and he doesn’t cover a lot of ground either. He still can be called up but he shouldn’t play every game. Eustaquio, Kone, Choiniere and Sigur should be the go to guys in the middle. Sigur played right back in this game but should be in the midfield eventually.

You also need to remember that Oso isn't exactly a forward either. Once David came on and he went into the midfield, it got better. I don't disagree with perhaps he's best coming off the bench though.

@@SilverSamurai12 Oso can hold his own against the big dawgs in the world as we saw in Copa but he doesn't elevate or bring anything special to the team as a midfielder or a forward. He lacks the pace or the physical traits to be impactful. If we're serious about winning anything I don't see him in the plans. Only in case of injury.

Appreciate you pointing out a few things - 1) that both teams were playing rough and it wasn't just Mexico. Some delusional Canadian fans think canada were playing clean. 2) that you finally acknowledged that Davies is just better when he's in defensive role. At the highest levels, players play where their strengths are and they can contribute most effectively. Davies has straight line speed + with mediocre dribbling = mediocre winger/attacking mid as opposed to his Straight line speed + defensive awareness = great wing back

I just dont see what Millar brings to the team constantly dribbles into double teams and his touch is just not acceptable at this level . Thank god we have Schaff ,Millar should get garbage time at best!.Mexico had to foul they just can not handle our pace of play we are a much better side ATM which is amazing as a long time CMNT fan!.

“We had the better chances” 😂 Canada only had 1 clear chance the entire match and that was when Luis Malagón saved it. Not saying Mexico was playing amazing but it was clear canada could not get through their defense and I would say Mexico played better the 2nd half with them creating most chances. let’s not get ahead of ourselves you are only just beginning to get better.

My big takeaways from that match is we need to give more guys a chance in the 10 and CB roles to see what we have. The quality drop off from David, Cornelius, and Bombito is massive right now and without any one of them on the pitch we look so much weaker. Kone might solves the 10 depth issue. CB, maybe it's time to give some young guys a chance? We know what we have with Miller, Waterman, Kennedy...and it's just a huge step down from DC and Bombito.

Mexico's gameplan was to foul, and foul again. Most Mexican fans were embarrassed by the performance because it is usually them complaining about less-talented CONCACAF teams resorting to foul play to have a chance against the obviously superior Mexicans. Seeing the tables turned was a painful reality-check.

@@Andrew-y7l They set the tone - at one point the fouls were like 12-2 or something. When the referee doesn't do anything about it, the players have to defend themselves. Mexico did decide to play football the last 50ish minutes of the match after they had kicked Canadian players' legs enough.

Any result in this game was going to be ok. We are still in the testing phase for the team - this game was to see what kind of depth there is, as shown by multiple regular starters being out of the lineup. You obviously want to win every game, but you learn a lot when things don't go well. Liam Millar didn't play great, in my opinion, but he had a breakout season last year. If he is used correctly and buys into the system instead of trying to be Ronaldo, he can still be a quality option up front.

Hard to glean anything from that shitshow. What a horrendous display by Mexico. Fouled the match into a coma. Canada inevitably played down to their level. Couldn't really tell if Marsch player rotation could work in that mess, but clearly David and Schaffelburg were missed. Not sure they'd have made any difference in that debacle. Let's hope the October match against Panama is better played.
