The youngest Japanese-born player to break the record with his 56th homer last season (2022). Japan's whole roster would win in any division in the MLB right now lol. Nootbaar said his homestay in Japan in 2009, and watching that year's Koshien (The most amazing year in modern history - NYY Masahiro Tanaka loses to Yuki Saito) became a big part of his love for Japanese baseball. Like Lars' mom said. This WBC might just be the Koshien that he never got to take part in. (edit: Saito and Tanaka faced off in 2006 )

I think you mean 2006 where Masahiro Tanaka dueled Yuki Saito at Summer Koshien. 2009 Summer Koshien is when Chukyodai Chukyo had a 10-4 lead in the 9th inning in the final before Nihon Bunri rallied to cut the deficit to 1 with the tying run on third. Chukyodai managed to hold off Nihon Bunri to win Koshien after forcing the final batter to line out to third.

The word “Saiko”Lars saying means “So great”(Subtitles is saying as “phycho” but its not collect ). And when you pronounce it as “Sa-Iko”, it means “Lets go!” . So “Saiko”is “so great” meanings for Lars and his Japan teams.

I’m a football fan (soccer in American terms) and this tournament reminds me of the World Cup, but with respect the World Cup is levels above the WBC. This tournament is not some “glorified exhibition” match it’s an actual tournament and has the best baseball players from all over the world representing their country. It’s totally different than playing for their domestic team because playing for their country means that the players have the whole country behind their backs and the pressure for them is immense. This is amazing for baseball because the more exposure the better and kids will get to see how baseball is fun and will hopefully be more involved in playing the sport.
