My father met Meyer in Cuba and always spoke highly of him. He was a quiet, wise, well respected man, whose word was his bond. I personally met him in 1973 in Miami, Florida during one of his many trials. He remembered meeting my father in detail although that had been in 1955. RIP Meyer.

Every organized criminal syndicate needs a financial genius. Prevents ( IRS ) issues. Increasing legitimate business opportunities over shadowing the illegitimate ones. Keeping a respectable low profile kept Lansky under the radar. Las Vegas was his El Dorado. As was Havana for a short duration of time. All in all till his legal problems started to haunt him. He never went without.

Lots of clips from the movie "Lansky" starring Harvey Keitel. Good movie but slow pacing, lots of extraneous subplots but Keitel was excellent.

Where can we find more detailed info on Myers affairs in the Bahamas. Although it was never proven, I'd like to know if there are more details on Myer's involvement in sir Harry Oakes murder who was at the time the richest man in the world living in the Bahamas and the biggest opponent to the Mafia starting casinos in the country.

You should check out the 60 Minutes segment from the 80's when they did a story on Meyer and interviewed his wife, if you haven't seen it, as it's a great segment to scope even for people who seemingly read everything about the man.

Blaming antisemitism is crazy since Luciano himself treated Meyer like a brother and equal peer in a time when Jewish folks weren't given any influence in that world. If anything, he's a victim of Israel who denied his right of return when he was always a proud Jew.

Meyer eshewed violence and stayed under the radar to make money for everyone. Why would he be hated when he came from literally nothing to succeed at the highest levels of that world without being a killer? He made his wealth from gambling and casinos when those things are largely legal now lol. He's an admirable man.

Even the feds went into denial about his hidden wealth by saying he owned people instead of bank accounts, when the former is certainly true to some respect due to his respect among people, but he certainly put his riches away in Swiss bank accounts, trusts, and other proxies. His last days were spent being rich in Miami when the feds watched everything he did to find his money and he never lived life without being obviously rich.
