Mezco 1989 Michael Keaton Batman  

He's a frustrating figure. It's difficult to swap parts and make it look good. I probably should've given him a lower rating, but he looks so damn good!

Thanks for the review. Mezco blew it on this one with the body and cape. We shouldn't have to work so hard to fix issues on a $130+ figure that took 3 years to deliver.

I like mezco, but man, those wait times for production are just brutal.

I have to say I’m not a Keaton fan I get why people love him but Kevin Conroy was my first Batman and will always be my favorite

I’m not sure why they didn’t include the hand stopper he used for that one thug. Anyway with another cape probably a third party one it’d be much better. I think someone made one for the figuarts 89 Batman and made it a lot better. I believe like other people have been saying this figure was ready probably about two years ago and WB prevented them from releasing it. The fact that there is so much powder on it is probably because it was just sitting around waiting for the release. Also the cape seems outdated. Remember the Flash movie got pushed back as well because that was supposed to come out years ago as well. It’s strange that the release of the Flash trailer came shortly after Mezco announced this figure was ready to be shipped. Mezco always say pending license approval so that could be the reason. They might’ve have been told to keep a tight lip on the situation. This is all speculation but without really knowing we don’t really know.

I knew you were going to set the cape correctly! You're right; the figure can be frustrating, but once you get over the hurdle, it's a thing of beauty. And yes, there shouldn't have to be any hurdle...

Nice review! This figure looks great! Still waiting for my shipping notification. I have a strong feeling they'll work on Batman Begins with this same niche of silicone body and moveable eyes, but this time, that one will probably be more successful, because he didn't wear a leather cape in the movie, so the figure would look amazing with a cloth cape that would drape straight down. Cowl will sit completely flushed with a simple black cloth cape. I'll buy that DAY ONE.

Dude you have to fiddle and snap the cape around the neck ring area! I know is freaking frustrating but is doable! It took a while for mine, but it fit snug and flush with the cowl. Cool review though! Glad you got it to fit better in the end!👌😎👍

Great figure and review. I’m deciding between getting this Batman or the recent Superman Man of Steel. This video makes a good rationale for choosing him.

This bird is baked, all these reviews have done is made me appreciate the figuarts and neca's versions, regardless of their flaws, their issue's aren't nearly as bad as what Mezco just 💩out.

I watched a dissection of Mezcos “wire skeleton/silicon body” alien and .. honestly it really helps understand the articulation more. I also ordered a custom cape for mine, really glad I did.

Just got mine today, and I agree... They got too cute with this one. Aesthetics are great, but there's just too many flaws. The capes, quite frankly, suck. I don't think the rubber body was necessary. He's too complicated to move, pose and articulate. The gimmick with the eyes is kind of foolish, a regular head sculpt with side eyes would have been just fine. I can see this becoming a statue just standing on the shelf because he's not enjoyable to play with, pose and move around (Compared to the Sovereign Knight which is still my favorite Batman figure...) . I also just got the Mezco Superman Man of Steel and he was actually a bit disappointing as well (Though not as much as this Batman.) These guys just aren't as good as the price tag and wait time warrants. Great thorough review as always!

Mezco Onyx variant SK Batman is my favorite primary Batman figure just due to nostalgia and my familiarity with the Keaton-style Batman all black outfit with the oval bat emblem (Lego Batman movie or the Kenner crime attack Batman figure I had as a kid) (**note: I was a 2000s kid, born 2001, I just happened to have a kenner Crime Attack Batman from the ‘89 or Returns movie line. Don’t know where it went tho, prolly lost it when I moved 😢)

04:37 , I heard use car dashboard spray like, Armor All to wipe off the powder on the figure.

definitely use 303 protectant, apply with fibercloth - folks use it on their 60k car interiors, it is plenty good to go on this figure's silicone rubber based exterior - it's used to add UV protection and repel dust/lint/staining. 303 makes a few products, the "protectant" is the one to get. 1989 Batman is my childhood, go to - forever favorite bat film as well sir, keep up the good work!

Great review. It's definitely figure of the year I purchased 3 of the same 89 Batman reason being is because Michael Keaton is in his 70s plus we may not never get this again.

used a very small flat head screw driver to help push it down the ring of the cape.

I've have a pre-order from early 2020 for this thing... I just wish they'd give us an estimate on arrival.

I'm disappointed with the cape design and the moveable eyes are unnecessary. I used ArmorAll protectant wipes which is used for rubber, leather, and hard plastic surfaces. Totally fine for this rubber body. It gave it a nice gloss finish.

The Neca 89 Batman figure is my favorite version of The Michael Keaton Batman figures. Awesome figure though.

Question I hope so if they make amazo mega-scale from DC villain amazo because he'll be cool to see ham and Trigon action figure I really want those two figures what do you think for those two mega-scale

I almost got ran over on my bicycle when this came out. I had already bought advanced tickets and just left the piece of crap bike I had been riding right on the street The cape of this thing throws me off. Definitely needs a secondary market version.☠️

Its a great looking figure but the cowl not sitting flush without a ton of elbow grease looks really frustrating to say the least.

You have to jam that cape ring downward over the neck lip to get the cowl to sit flush, that's a really poor design choice on Mezco's part. While the cape material looks nice, it just looks too poofy, wiring and all. Somebody like Jaxon Xu will probably make 1/12 custom capes so if you're looking for an upgrade, that'd be the way to go. While not quite perfect, this still looks like the best representation of 1989 Keaton Batman in the six-inch scale and the second-best overall after Hot Toys.

A friend of mine has that coming soon. He doesn’t take any out of the box though. It’s completely closed right? That’s how it seemed. I hate that. Anything could be in the box then! Lol

So many other Batman figures were released by Mezco during the three years it took to make this that they should have mastered the cape by now.

Can't wait to get mine. I know it says not to use chemicals on it, but I wonder if the rubber needs some sort of protectant to help it last longer. We've seen the material they used for the cape start to flake off as well. On another note: I believe there's Filix Toys Nicholson coming soon.

I dont personally understand keeping toys sealed that you cant even see. Like mezcos hot toys or even new legends. To each their own i guess

Really wanted to like this figure but it just looks so weird with its huge head and tiny body. Not a big fan of the magnet heads and cape either.

Hey my man, when the cape is draped down in front, push/tuck both sides in between his arms and his body so that it folds in on itself if that makes sense? That should create a deep crease and get rid of the billowy-ness out the sides yeh??
