I shoot a Mathews V3X 29. In 28.5 draw but it is more like 29. At 60# and I shoot Easton axis 5mm 340 spine at 420 grains. I can reach out to 115. And it is a very fast set up. This is my 1st deer season wt the bow. But I have shot a Hogg and got a double lung it went 25 yards. Fixed blade broadheads NAP HELLRAZOR

I'd be interested in a similar discussion to this but for the rest of the folks out there that aren't shooting 65lb and up bows. Seems like the RIP XV arrows could be used to build a high velocity flat shooting arrow for a 50-60lb draw in the 360-375 grain range that would be a performer out west. Another cool topic would be wind deflection and 5mm vs 4mm arrow options and different vane designs, quietness of vane designs etc....

Would love some episodes more focused on bow hunting. Ideally on how to get into hunting if you dont come from a hunting family/community. Think more people would get into archery/bow hunting if there was better info out there on how to get started. Ive known many people to totally give up on hunting due to the initial learning hurdle when they dont have a mentor. An episode on how to plan first time self guide western hunt trip would be great as well. Thanks for the great content gentlemen!

I'd love a talk about setup regarding cam lean at brace, limb deflections, etc. Basically what is the best way to look at a bow, see the cam lean at brace, then what you would do to the cams position on the axles prior to even shooting the bow. Discussing what the limb deflection does to influence this cam lean at brace would be appreciated as part of that conversation.

Nice thing is, I like that I can pause it and get back to it during the day. Keep up the good work! For a suggestion. I have a 27 1/2 in draw on my Bowtech Solution. I run about 65 lbs on it. Is that the best bow for someone with my DL or should I go with a bow with a cam system that would give me better benefits at the shorter DL?

Not sure if they have them out west, but in the north east we have a few "Captain and Mate" shoots. Two man teams, sometimes you can pick your team and sometimes its a "bind draw" where the host will randomly pair teams. 30 total targets. Odd numbered targets are usually IBO scoring, and even numbered targets are ASA with the 14 in play. On each target the team gets to keep their highest scoring arrow, so if your teammate shoots first and hits a 12 then you're free to shoot at the 14 with no risk. It's a ton of fun and adds an element of strategy. Usually half the entry fee goes to the club and half goes to the pot for the winners.

Loving the content guys. Have a question (possibly a topic for future chats) How important is modern equipment if you want to be competitive in a 3D/target environment? I’m currently shooting a Mathews Drenalin LD from 08 (modern Strings and Cables, though) Everything on it was “state of the art” when I bought it new. My form is good and the bow is tuned (get consistent groups out past 60) Would there be much upside to switching to a modern rig with modern accessories or is it a case of diminishing returns at this point? Keep up the great work

I noticed something interesting the other day when shooting the bow. Arrows seemed to penetrate farther into target at 50 yds compared to closer distances. Shooting into a Block 6x6. Maybe be when the arrow stabilizes and flying straighter or it has lost enough velocity that it doesn't weld the foam of target as badly and has less grip on arrow. Thoughts?

Hey guys. I mainly hunt whitetail in Northwest Indiana out of a tree stand. I'm currently shooting a Bear Legit at 70ish pounds and 29 1/2 inch draw length. I'm running stock Gold Tip Hunter XT 340's cut to 29 inches, with Nockturnal nocks and 125gr Stinger Buzzcut 4 blades. So about 440gr total weight. The 340's are too weak of a spine for me this year, because I got in a lot better shape and have increased my draw weight. I'm thinking of getting a Ranch Fairy Sirius Supernova 2.0 250/300 spine test kit and try getting my arrows closer to 500gr with a little higher FOC. I know I have to get a stiffer arrow, but do I need to go up in total weight? Can I just cut my arrows down and raise the tip weight to achieve the same results?
