Let me simplify Baas for you: It is nothing but a loan on the battery from a partner NBFC with minimum emi of 5700 and tenure of 10 years. Baas for MG: Battery as a service. What it is in real world terms: - The ex showroom of the base model is 10L and top end around 15L - Pay by usage of battery is nothing but a loan from one of four NBFCs like Bajaj and Hero. - The battery loan is customised so that you can choose how much emi you want to pay per month. - The priciple amount of loan is the cost of the battery which i am estimating to be roughly around 5L (so in short, you are taking a LOAN from an NBFC for 5L and your tenure depends on the amount you choose to pay per month. Minimum might be 1500 kms * 3.5Rs/Km = 5250 emi. For this emi, you can expect a tenure of around 10 years with 6.5% interest. I dont think they would loan you the battery or anything in this world without interest. - So in short, the battery is on Loan from one of these NBFCs and 'pay by usage' is nothing but a fancy way of linking your usage to how much money you can pay per month. If you want to sell the car: - Like any car loan, this is also a loan. so in order to sell it, you should close the principle amount. The Catch: - If you want the whole car on a bank loan . You have no choice but to take a car loan from one of these four NBFCs. Your car loan and your battery loan should be taken only from any one of these partner NBFCs. Its one of the conditions for taking a loan of this car. Else you have to purchase the batter and take a loan on only the shell? idk. Verdict: -For a Petrol/Diesel car, you are anyway going to pay anything around 7 to 12 Rs per Km ( estimating mileage of 15km/L to 9Km/L on) for the fuel. if you drive around 1000 per month, that is around 10k per month. You pay the same for the battery and after a while its yours. however you will have to pay for the electricty you use as well. MG's Free electricity for a year is only if you consistently use their app for recharges. This dude in red tshirt talks as if even one charge outside the app and you lose your free electricity boon. So, i dont know how good their app is, maybe its good. in one line: Its a good feature but they could have cut the sheett and just called it a battery loan. I might have missed something which i initially wanted to share with you before i started typing this whole damnj thing but now i have forgotten that, so bye , i am out.
8:50 Only one question. Is it really Battery As A Service? That means even if the battery is having some issue, whether the MG will replace it with another one without any downtime or they will repair and return? Simply speaking the battery provided with the car will be an asset of the customer or it is asset of the MG for which customer has to pay amount per km.
@@svXPs true if it is subscription model any issues has to support by MG for eg in harsh climates flood etc if battery damaged , mg to replace and ensure responsibility of battery operational
@@subinn it should be but it will not becoz if they start practsing then we indian we will drive in water or dont care if battery will get damage like from speed breaker and replacing cost is very high so they will make any dumb excuse to refuse it
@@subinn They clearly told accidental damage needs to be covered by owner's insurance. It also says about outstanding battery cost. The rates are also mentioned. With an EMI calculator, you can easily assess the tenure also.
Follow in for what? This Ba(kw)aS idea? If there is a quality product in the market, people will automatically buy it no matter what the price is.. First MG should strategise their products based on Indian conditions.. Hyundai, Tata and Mahindra are doing exactly this. Once they strategise and make it a success in sales volume then they can come up with these kind of ba(kw)as ideas... Apple products are prime example for this strategy.. Believe me, no auto company is crazy enough to follow this chinese strategy.. this is exactly what they are doing in country to country level. trap them in debts.. if you opt in for baas, you are entrapped for next 'n' number of years with them. !
This is a bad move by mg. Indian market is not mature enough to understand baas. They should have revealed the actual cost of the car at launch event and then later should have launched this so called "BASS" Program
Indian market is "not matured" for baas????? what the hell... dude infact these auto makers should be mature enough to understand what Indian market wants and make products accordingly.. dont just dump some rebranded product from some other country and expect Indians to adjust to that just like the comet crap..
BAAS concept is really cost-effective and will be great daily vehicle users, MG made really smart move in EV industry. I'm sure it will work in India.🤩
A minimum requirement of 1500kms is going to be the greatest issue for the sales slump of this car. Also a company cannot expect to sell Chinese type car designs to be successful in India. They should slightly make it looks more musculine before bringing in Chinese made EVs.
I was seriously considering this , but why is MG Management mum on its Safety Ratings , the core structure , The HARDWARE SAFETY Structure. is it just a fancy car with cool pricing but with MARUTI ALto inside. ? What is the status on Saferry
Whats is the cost of battery ? . When we are paying say 3.5 rs/km for 3000km in a month and the month is billed for 10000rs . I drive the car for 5 yrs amounting to 5x1.20 lakh=6 lakh will the battery then will be mine or not?
So BAAS is essentially a seperate loan for the battery. Suppose I decide to purchase the windsor, I have 3 choices: pay in full, take a regular car loan or opt for BAAS. "What is the benefit of BAAS compared to regular loan for the entire car"?
Even if u r paying for extra 25km per day, that adds up to the battery 'loan' payment... that money is not wasted in that sense...! (after the battery cost is met over some years, no more payment per km and also the battery will b yours)
Also, there is a chance to increase the present ₹3.5 rent to ₹8 or ₹10 in future . If that happens, buyers will stuck in the game. Since it is called as rent, it can increase. Company needs to give more clarity on this.
When the car is for servicing does MG provide with a spare car to use until the car gets fixed? And if there’s a breakdown purely due to malfunctioning of battery does MG provide free roadside assistance to tow the car to service centre?
Also it will be interesting to compare ICE car with this BaaS car. Including rent of the battery, power bill to charge, maintenance costs and resale value after 5 years. We can compare for 1500km per month. @amit can you do a short video on that if possible
What if the battery health depleted in three four years. On what basis they are calculating 3.5 rupees/ km ?. Is it calculated based on real range or estimated range?
MG offered multi facilities that good but they should clear the battery price because one person use the car for life time up to 3,50,000km then only battery price will = 3,50,000 x 3.5/- = 12.25 lakhs and another person use that car up to 4,00,000 km then only battery price will be = 14lakhs. The battery price rate increases as per kilometer increase, so they should declaration the battery price rate.
Why no one talking about the certified range in all brands. They say 330 kms in full charge, but users struggling to get 220 kms in full charge in most of the cars. No one will drive at 40kms/hr speed to achieve 330 kms. 5 rs/km for 18 kms = 90 rs. 18 kms/litre mileage petrol car = 103 rs. Difference 13 rs per 18 kms. For this small benefit, we need to compromise travel time. If you are travelling long distance lets say 700 kms, how many stops you have to take for changing. Think... As said in this video, No where it will half the fuel spents on petrol cars as per the calculations. Rather reducing the battery charges from 3.5 to 2 rs then users can see some real EV benefits in this model. Thats my thinking.
Till the full amount of battery pack that you select is paid. In simple terms they will divide car price into shell and battery. So you pay full price for shell and pay ₹/km for battery. So upfront cost of battery is reduced. It's like EMI on battery depending on usage. This is my understanding. Hope they release more information.
People r getting crazy for 200km range...this wont give 331km with 4 passsenger, ac and indian condition. If this car was 50kwh with minimum 400km then something to think about
@@smiralshah7635 Exactly... I don't understand the hype with that range.... 😂😂 ... Not a single car reviewer talking about range... Really curious to know why😏
@@smiralshah7635 Nexon ev with 40kwh battery gives approx 300km range..punch ev with 35kw battery delivers close to 300km range..MG has 38kwh battery.. I believe that windsor can actually give close to 300km range if driven normally...250+ for sure..
These people don't tell that in the long run alongwith car the battery efficiency also depletes. And the initial cost of the battery car is high compared to normal cars. Then u have to charge the battery daily which is also additional cost and headache of charging battery on daily basis. And if u want or change ev car after 4 years, bcz of reduced battery life the resale value will be much less. Break even point will take 4 to 5 years.
Hi Gaurav Gupta Ji ... I have couple of questions regarding Windsor shell + battery costing plan. 1) Suppose customer has taken Shell only ( say 10 Lakhs) with battery as subscription plan, will the insurance be only on the Shell price of 10 lakhs or it includes battery price as well 2) in subscription plan in case of accident will the insurance cover full body including battery or only on shell. battery price excluded ?
BAAS should be renamed to Battery loan. Please this onto MG. Every loan has 3 main parts- Principal, per year interest, tenure. For each financier, please make a table and this. Principal amount- interest per year- Tenure- Only then the benefit of BAAS can be compared with a regular car loan.
Lagta nahi inki Gaadi bikegi... Aisa model India. Mein nahi chal payega.. Agar Yeh sab possible hota toh leasing India Mein bahut popular hota.. Dekhte hain.. Inki kitni Gaadi bikti hai.. Diwali bhi Aa hi gai hai.. Next three months will tell the true story and their business model on this car
Real world range should be 400+ kms.. And minimum kilometers per month should be 1000kms. Then only it will be blockbuster.. till then this concept wont work
Lagado bhai shisheka bhi rent, headlight ka rent, sunroof ka rent. Driver passanger sit ka rent, steering wheel ka rent, all tyre ka rent, ac ka rent laga do laga do jinko kharidni ki mitao unki echha, free me mil rahi he fortunar😂😂
What is this rubbish we will declare very soon. Why do you launch a car that you even dont know about its subscription. Deception is all you guys have got.
Seriously a bad move... It's a case of how the marketing team came up with an idea and the rest of the bosses were somehow convinced that this would work.
Instead of fixed 1500km per month rental concept, would suggest 0-500 km, 500-1000km and 1000- 1500km plans would provide more options to buyers. It might increase the probability of choosing ev adoption. Or yearly plans can also help. Bottom line is buyers most likely look for more options to choose. Also would suggest to increase time limit for free charging to attract more buyers.
There are multiple options no one is talking about on youtube. The BaaS is provided by 3rd party providers like Bajaj, Hero Fin, Autovert, Vidyut. There are pay as you go plans as well. They are just promoting 1500KM per month only. Probably Bajaj Fin is paying huge commission
Please answer my queries : 1 - In the Vidhyut plan, if I don’t drive at all in a month, will I still have to pay any battery rental? Is there a minimum fee even if no kilometers are driven? 2 - If I drive 300 km per month for 3 years, how much total rent would I have paid for the battery? I calculate the total rent as ₹37,800 (10,800 km × ₹3.5 per km). If I plan to sell the car after 3 years and exit the Vidyut plan, will I need to pay any outstanding amount for the battery under the "foreclose the outstanding battery amount" option? How is this calculated? 3 - Regarding the 60% buyback offer under the BAAS plan, does the 60% apply to the total invoice including the battery, or just the car’s cost? For example, if the car costs ₹10 lakh and the battery ₹3 lakh, how much will I get back after 3 years? Assuming that I have bought maintenance package and the car condition is good after 3 years.
38kw battery will give only 250 km real range...50 -550kw battery with this BAAS would have been a good choice, hope MG brings BAAS concept in ZS EV and other future models..
@@sriharijoshi5 yes, then why should we be a partial owner of the car?? It will be better to buy a diesel car and refill the fuel without any delay, for ev recharging we have to find a public charger and it may lead to delay if there is a queue ahead of us.... MG is missing a trick here by charging 4.5Rs ...
@@ssivasmr 15yrs contract is what you've for diesel and a hefty road tax! If I get ZS EV for 16l that's a great deal. Point is, electricity+battery to be seen as fuel
I completely agree! If I’m getting Baas features why should I pay the full price of the car? This is a very unique approach by mg in the EV industry and really in the auto industry overall. JSW and MG are doing a fantastic job!
U compare ICE fuel cost Rs 12000/- per month in this YR Video and MG EV U mention Rs 3.50/- but this is rental charge of EV Battery must add additional Rs 1.50/- for only Home change Cost so total charge c cost will be minimum Rs 5/- per KM ..so..Monthly 1500 km * Rs 5 so Rs 7500/- minimum monthly running cost compare to Rs 12000/- ICE Monthly running cost ..But ..off-course ICE Automatic more than 15 lac this size SUV Cot .
we pay EMI for the battery indirectly as 'BAAS". who is ultimate owner after 60 months as under 'BAAS', it would be MG though we would have paid for the cost of battery
All I want to know about vidyut plan, it has no minimum cap so will it also available at 3.5 per km or there are any hidden charges in that case, say my monthly driving is hardly 500 km so will I pY only 3.5*500=1750 or there Is a catch??
Everyone is suddenly advocate of environment. Politician, businesses etc, just imagine the amount of money these people are expection because of grater margins than ICE. Golmal hai bha Sab golmal hai!
for the comet, actual battery cost is Rs 0.5 . so simple calculations is renting finance company will make Rs 2 per kilometer. its better to buy full car with battery. a comet battery should last 4lakh kilometers
Trust me, this concept will be a big flop. Only thing any car company can do to revive EV sales is to increase the battery capacity and increase the charging stations at least 5 times. The present number is around 14k for the population of 140 cr in India. EV sales will automatically increase drastically, no need to do all these dramas.
This concept wont work very well. the better idea is to price the car sensibly and give a warranty of upto 3 lakh kilometres. this car will be a hit formula. Whenever there is complicated maths involved people generally tend to exit.
People who can buy a 10 lakh car can buy a 13 lakh car. baas is just another way to collect more profit through rental. Otherwise the business model is flawed if the company comes out without factoring in the time value of money in their cvp model. The loan interest benefactors is simply diverted to baas provider instead of the bank. There is no big deal here. We still have the very stupid idea of carting around a large and heavy battery for the life of the car. Given that electricity is still a scarce resource in India and that charging infrastructure is very thin, there should be extra taxes on BEVs - say at 100%? Yes, that sounds reasonable. Liike baas sounds sheepish.
Customers are paying 6-7 Rs per km if the use petrol cars.. This extra charge will bring EV cars usage to almost Rs 5 plus, the new technology has a lot of bugs for initial adaptation.. so then the EV are no longer cost effective for us?
Unless the prices plans and range of the car comes with details. Its lots of if and buts. But deffinitely a good initiative to buy ev. e.g. if you can buy curvv EV like this or hyundai ionic ev like this. Or ev6 It would make more sense and ev would be lot affordable. Or price comparable to ice cars👍
Is it possible to pay rent of the car battery as per usage without choosing a monthly plan? Only then can it be seen as a replacement cost for something like petrol/ diesel. And can the 55 minutes to 80% charge time be used continuously/daily or not?
i see he easily skipped to answer the GST question.. buyer will pay gst on battery also while registration and when we pay the rent on battery i think gst on 1500 km will be additional
What does the unlimited km battery warranty for 1st owner mean? If I buy the Windsor and battery health drops to 70 percent in 2 years, will my car battery be replaced? At what percent of the battery health degradation will my car be eligible for battery replacement?
This BAAS technique is like jio business. If you buy this car then owner is control by MG because the battery unit charges price will be increased as per MG and owner should be bound to pay .Think 100 times before buy.
