MGB engine conversion to a 2.8 V6 Camaro engine. Getting the engine ready before I do the swap over. Lots to do!! using a new camera DJI Osmo Action 1. Still learning how to use it. I will do more videos as I progress
as an American auto tech what I know bout the 2.8L chevy v6 is "1" I highly recommend you do NOT remove that EGR vlv because it will affect engine Idle and also cause popping from the exhaust on deceleration especially down hills, in addition those engines run naturally hot at around 220 deg.F at idle for better fuel efficiency, these engines run dirty and carbon build up is a problem. not changing oil regularly will cause the oil to turn to a jelly like substance (I've seen this happen many times) and cause the engine to lock up, I also recommend to move that oil filter with some adapter away from the exhaust manifold, your just asking for problems by cooking that oil filter with that header, and if your using a 2 bbl carb I recommend to use a Holley because the stock carb. is a pain to work with and it sucks balls, finally change that engine dampener, the outer ring has been know to shift or even separate causing all kinds of headaches and finally use good gas "one step above reg. unleaded will do fine" (unleaded plus or better). but if you can find and late modal Fiero GT 2.8v6 with injection that would be a good choice, for some strange reason those engines just seem to be really raspy and have great top end.. good luck hope my advice helps in anyway..
@@gsminors Quick pointer- The Camaro has been, and always will be a Chevrolet product, versus the incorrectly stated Ford in the intro....Just felt like you might like to know.
Ireally like the clean look it will have when finished, especially with the internal hydraulic clutch throwout. But, I am reticent about having any possibility of fluid leaking onto the clutch? And, I would be concerned about exhaust heat so close to the oil filter. I would strongly recommend a remote filter setup.
Hi I have an MGB and would love to do an engine swap. I just don’t now what I would need. What rear end are you using. What front suspension are you running? What are you swapping? Engine transmission and what else?
I am using a 1984 Chevrolet camaro v6 2.8 engine with 5 speed T5 transmission. Original differential. Stock front suspension. Custom made drive shaft. The V6 engine is just a little heavier then the stock engine making it a ideal swap. I will have a new video very soon showing it complete except for the exhaust system. If I can help in any way let me know? Thank you for watching and commenting
The stock MGB engine is around 100 hp give or take and hampered by poorly designed anti pollution equipment. The 171 cu in V6 can be tuned to about 150 hp with little effort. It is only a 50% gain in power in its weakest form, but can be breathe on to give more. It operates in the same rpm range as the MGB engine so the rear gearing need not be changed, especially considering the overdrive 5th gear in the T5 trans. The V6 is a bit lighter than the I4 that comes in the car. This isn't the ultimate MGB motor upgrade, but it is going to give the owner a more modern engine, a smoother engine, a nice power increase, and a quieter ride as far as engine noise from reduced rpms.
