So. In Rap Devil, when he talks about being blackballed in the industry - that's what he's referring to. Press outlets like Fader and XXL all of a sudden quit featuring him (XXL even had a cover article written - pulled for no stated reason). It wasn't just about Shade 45. Maybe it was something else - who knows, but he did get a phone call from Diddy and Jimmy Iovine at his manager's mom's house at 9 am at some point asking him to apologize. He is, as you can see by now, the type of guy who isn't going to apologize because Diddy told him to. If Em had picked up the phone and called him (or asked them to connect him), then he'd have apologized to him - that's who he is. He works out issues face to face, man to man. He's gotten into disputes before with multiple rappers (Yelawolf a while back, for example, and even G-Eazy recently) and he always works it out face to face. The stans usually say back to me that Eminem didn't owe him a phone call, that MGK was "beneath" Em making a phone call too. I would just say that if it's worth asking the label to step in, then maybe a call would be a better way to handle it. No, he didn't owe him a phone call, but it is a courtesy he could have extended to an artist on the same label as him. But, we all know Em is petty (he's not the only one - believe me, I know) - so I think that's what Rap Devil grew out of, and why there are so many petty insults in Rap Devil. Some of that is my opinion, but it is a fact that the phone call happen, that he was dropped from XXL (for a long time) and Fader (permanently) and possibly others. He's had difficulty getting radio play up until his song Bad Things came out. He's had a few radio outlets very loyal to him and those are the ones you'll see him going to first (i.e., Funk Flex, etc.). He is extremely loyal until you betray him. Anyway - I always, always enjoy your reactions and your open mind. He has had a double battle, too - traditional rap fans don't fw him because he's a "white rapper" but people who like white rappers (Eminem, Logic) haven't always fw him bc he's too gangster. I think that he's found his place, though, and people are starting to wake up to the immense amount of talent that he and his team have (they're always the ones behind him producing or writing or performing on stage with him). Little lesson here. 19XX is just kinda the symbol of EST. Black Flag is a full length album that was supposed to be his 2nd album, however it was shelved by interscope. (That's what he referenced in Rap Devil) And so he released it on his own completely for free giving out download links and everything. Entirely self promoted, no hard copies ever were created. Black Flag then became a symbol of EST as well. A black flag is a symbol opposite of the white surrender flag. Instead of a surrender it's the symbol that there is no surrender. It's a fight to the death. He toured off of that album for about a year before general admission was released.

Black Flag was one of his albums (his black bandana/black flag is always on him). 19XX is basically to fill in the blanks meaning he’s here for every age. Someone correct me if I’m wrong on that 19XX but that’s what it means to me. No discrimination towards any age. He’s here for it all

Black Flag is representing the opposite of the white flag(surrendering) -not giving up, chasing dreams, overcome all odds. The 19XX stands for any age of his fanbase.

EST, Lace up and 19XX, are all part of the representation of his movement. EST means Everyone Stand Together, Lace up is kinda the name of the movement itselfs (a line related to it in the song "Smoke and drive" he recently uploaded, is "Only time I get an L is when I be throwin' one up for the gang sign") is another way to keep on that "motivation", the movement roots for, to never give up and stuff and 19XX is about the movement being por everybody, no age restricted, we all can be part of it. The "Whats-his-name" he is referring to is more than likely Em. Song was released in 2013, the tweet that ignited the beef was sent in 2012. It was at this point that Fader mag pulled his article, not being allowed on Shade 45 etc. Due to the date this video was released we can assume that Em's camp had already reached out for an apology and thus it makes sense that the "Whats-His-Name" that he refers to is Em.
